How is this "fair" distribution if some people are creating 10+ addresses?
I thought this was going to be somehow fair and one address per person.
what makes it unfair if you input more than one address ? Fair means that if you DO want to input more than one address, it's done in a way that everyone has access to the same amount of "fairness". So in this scenario, 10 addresses would take you 10+ hours to do so... The barrier is discouraging enough to prevent bots, scammers, or greedy people to get a monopoly on this.  10 addresses would give you 10 000 coins. out of the 50 000 000 possible, it's a decent 0.02% of the distribution and leaves plenty of room for anyone that wants to participate, to have their fair share. It looks pretty fair and honest to me.

You are going to have a lot of people creating accounts around the clock to game the system. Why should those people have several times higher stake than those who don't have time to do this?

This also leaves open the ability for the developer to claim as much stake as he wants in the background.
One account per user ensures the developer doesn't have a majority stake because you can see exactly how many people have applied for stake, you can't just create "phantom accounts".

If its so easy to game the system why don't you game it. Its NOT easy to game the system only one person can game is and thats OP. He has used same methods as other sites are using for voting. Its difficult to abuse it if not impossible. As for each altcoin you need to believe the dev if not then move on

On the issue of people creating accounts (and I assume you mean sending more addresses) the process is so long that this wont affect a vast majority of the people. If you don't have time, well that is your particular situation and this is the same as saying why people WITH time can't benefit from this.

I think fair doesn't/shouldn't mean equally distributed... That's a "socialist" type of idea that I won't get into here.

As for the dev abusing their own system... it is a valid concern.  I think it would be stupid from their part and kill the long term possibilities of this coin but hey, it's been done before... Stupid people are stupid people. I guess we need to have some kind of faith and trust there that this won't happen here.

Blind faith and blind trust have no place in the cryptocurrency world.

The whole point of cryptocurrency is we can't trust people not to abuse that trust. If you believe this schmuck isn't going to take advantage of possibly millions of dollars (see auroracoin) then.. I really don't know what to tell you.

If people really were making these coins out of the goodness of their hearts and not to get rich they would strive harder to make them fair and equally distributed. Not leave glaring holes in their systems which only they can take advantage of.

my laptop crashed before I could save the txt-file with my token Sad
any help how I get a new token?
thanks a lot for help!

I hope you have a dynamic IP address, otherwise you're screwed. Like others, I'm not convinced that faircoins distribution method is fair at all.

Also, I still have a sneaking suspicion that the dev will disappear in 5 days with his huge faircoinqt botnet. Then again, I'm paranoid. Has anyone looked at the source code yet?

What happens behind these pages and what's coming in future, we dont know about that yet but still until 4 days or until it gets 35000 more tokens you are welcome to get your fair share than just attacking other people on forum lol We also have learnt enough about crypto and certainly can say more than 90% of fucking alts have no real use or they dont serve any genuine purpose but yet they are still here hanging around with some hopes and this coin is no exception. Whats the reason not to participate where you dont lose anything not even your hashing power?  Grin

That's a horrible argument.
So if its easy to steal money from old people, it should be open season on mugging old ladies!!
I have access to 6 computers. This means I can create 6 addresses every hour vs most peoples 1 address per hour.
When all is said and done I will have 6x the stake you have.

How do you feel about that? Doesn't matter right now because its worthless. You don't have any feelings on the matter. For arguments sake lets say that stake is worth $5,000 in the future. My stake will be worth $30,000. You can lie and say you wouldn't care, but you would have to be pretty simple-minded not to care about that.

Regardless, that pales in comparison to the fact that with access to the back-end the developer can generate as many addresses as he wants.
Who cares if this guy gets filthy rich off a few days/week of work right? Long as we all get our tiny sliver of the pie.

Talk about pacifying the masses.

I wasn't talking about blind trust here.  I'm not sure I agree with you when you say that the "whole point" of cryptocurrency is we can't trust people to abuse that trust.  A major point of cryptocurrency is to be able to be just that, a currency... now how is it going to go mainstream if mining farms and the already whealty can "buy" there way in.

Where ever you look, this is going to be injustices... But considering all we know, this is by far the fairest distribution I have seen.  you don't have to be a nerd, have a gazillion MH/s farm or be already rich to start with crypto... My grandma could get her address and be part of the revolution without going through too much pain.

Heck it's given for free !!!! what's to lose?

Why should I care if the guy that put time and effort in putting this together makes money, even if he makes a lot? He's trying to scam us? well shame on him and move on.

Maybe I am crazy, but I still have faith in people, that some of us really work for this to be a better part of our collective future.  And besides the money that can/will be made out of this... I believe that this concept of "fair" distribution is worth that we test it out as a community.  I'll say it again, this might not be perfect, but it's one of the best I've seen this far and a step in the right direction IMHO.

The whole point of cryptocurrency is we can't trust people not to be abuse that trust.

I wasn't talking about blind trust here.  I'm not sure I agree with you when you say that the "whole point" of cryptocurrency is we can't trust people to abuse that trust.  A major point of cryptocurrency is to be able to be just that, a currency...

But you are talking about blind trust. You are blindly trusting that this person (this anonymous person) will not abuse the trust you are placing in him by taking advantage of the situation.
If you can make a million dollars, are you going to not do it because its not ethical? Fuck yo ethics foo! You got a family to think about!

Maybe I am crazy, but I still have faith in people, that some of us really work for this to be a better part of our collective future.

I'll say it again, this might not be perfect, but it's one of the best I've seen this far and a step in the right direction IMHO.
You may be right. But if I could come up with a fairer distribution method in 5 minutes, you have to wonder why it was deliberately not utilized in the first place. Yes I'm sure the developer just overlooked the solution that would NOT allow him to take advantage of the system.  Roll Eyes
