Fluttercoin is out there as well.  It's pretty much bottomed out right now, so there is low risk in investing, a couple of BTC should be fine.  An active and knowledgable dev team, and introduces Proof of Transaction (PoT).

There's a chance with every transaction to be rewarded with free PoT.  Think of it as PoS but with spending.  It still also has PoW and PoS to strengthen the blockchain and secure the network.

If you're looking to invest you should diversify anyway and a couple of BTC in FLT wouldn't hurt.

I think at least Bitcoin and NXT are both doing some voluntary-anonymous-plugin-thingy... and was there AnonCoin ?... and can't remember which others are
planning it too. I don't follow all coins so closely, but i am sure there were many. Don't know how soon others are releasing the feature thou.

Its my gut feeling that in the year 2014, more coin developers will place an emphasis on anonymity. Many coins are announcing the plans for adding anonymous features now, just as an after thought.

 Seems like bitcoin was beta however mainstream beta. It is true we need more privacy. Bitcoin devs like Gavin Andresen find altcoins more interesting when they address the transactions differently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxEWRORzLSc he says so in the first minute here. He doesnt mention Darkcoin by name but says only a few altcoins interest him. They are cool but will struggle with bitcoin for mainstream adoption. Wallets are cool too but only go so far as to stay within the confines of bitcoin protocol.

It is hard to say which one could be the best coin for an investment. It seems to me like every day new alt coins appears in btt.
Nevertheless I guess the best investment is NEM in regard of all those features you can read on their main thread
