Best Alt coin to invest in 2014

If BitShares X market pegs prove to work, I believe its going to change the world.  It may well give Bitcoins marketcap a run for its money.

As of right now, the bitAsset markets are in testing phase.  The BitShares X chain is live and you can trade BTSX but bitAsset market functionality has not been turned on yet.  The current price reflects this fact, and could be the best deal your going to see this year.  It comes down to, is it going to work or not.

So, the best investment for 2014? If BitShares X works, there's no comparison in my mind.

Even if this were true, it wouldn't threaten Bitcoin in any way given it's all open source which means copy and paste.  Bitcoin has momentum, critical mass,  mass adoption etc which is very hard to overcome.  Any new innovation will simply be taken by Bitcoin if it's worth taking. 

Alt coins are nothing more than test mules unless they actually have must have features which cannot be taken by Bitcoin.  That said, no alt will compete with BTC just csuse it has great new features - just look at all other coins which had real features to offer - nothing more than a flash in the pan.

Yeah but has BTC made any improvements in the last 4 years NO! so i don't see that changing anytime soon, plus it's slow as all shit, and the same thing could be said for Myspace they could off done what facebook did, but did they NO..XC is 3 months old and already better then any crypto out there,mass adoption doesn't happen over night, and it will be open source but on a delayed timeline so they won't be able to just copy and paste, it's also built from the ground up and designed for mobile devices, it's very diffrent to BTC, BTC is myspace..XC is facebook..get used to it.

and i have seen nothing that has offered anything but vaporware, lots of promises, no delivery, and when they have delivered, it almost never works, that's what is different about XC, they over deliver, it works, and always earlier or on time, nothing compares...

In my opinion, almost never the newer ones. They pop up every day with so many claimed features that haven't been put to the test. The older grandfather altcoins are more likely to succeed imo.

I totally agree.  People forget this isn't just money but also technology and for tech time testing is a must have.

Well you need a lot of trust in this community.  An individual doesn't have the time to download every wallet + accompanying research and see which ones are scams or not.

If I compare the things from the Dark community with the XC community, then given all the rhetoric and facts I have seen I would buy XC over Dark. 

The real question is actually how much faith do you have in these anonymity-rhetoric coins.  I think crypto currencies will be worth $1 - $2 trillion in a decade but how much of that will be dedicated anonymity coins and how legal will they be?

The cool thing about XC is, that in the future it will be 100% anonymous but it will be an option if you want it to be or not, you will be able to switch between annon and non-annon, anyways the government would need a good reason to make it illegal, i don't see them having a good enough reason, there not supposed to spy on us but they do, if they make something that makes it hard to spy on us illegal it's fairly obvious too everyone the only reason they did it was because they want to snoop, they could use "terrorists will use it" line or child pornographers or drug dealers, but there are things like military grade cell phones that are encrypted and fairly untraceable, TOR etc they can already use and there not illegal, hey lets make the US dollar illegal shit loads of child pornographers, drug dealers and terrorists use that and handing someone a suitcase of money is untraceable unless your under surveillance , plus why do we let those scumbags run our lives anyway? if they try to make anonymous crypto illegal lets just riot.

You wouldn't get a concrete answer as most people have agendas and are often peddling their bagholder coins with $5+ million capitalization.  A lot of people promoting their $hitcoin have 5%+ stakes in them.

Sadly, that's what I was afraid of.  So then you really cannot trust any of these people.  You have to do your own analysis but that's hard to do given there are no cash flows and no assets with these coins so you're investing in an idea or in the people behind them.  This sucks!

From what I've read so far stellar is nothing more than ripple 2.0.  Same guys same massive premine and same enrichment of insiders with massive dilution.  I'd buy some for speculation but not because I believe in it cause it's no better than paper fiat.

I prefer coins with way less dilution and little to no premine.

I saw that page and it's good but personally and I imagine most newbies are looking for a coin which is cheaper which has the chance for a larger return.  Maybe XC is good for more stable returns which has it's place on any portfolio .
