Sold at 5700 since I knew this was trending downward. Standard protocol with new coins on cryptsy. Might pick some up again if it dips down to 1000.

I'm starting to wonder how trustworthy some unseen guy named "AnonymousPirate" is. Where did this guy Payu Harris come from all of a sudden? The toughest part about maza is that it could equally be a huge pump and dump scam or it could be a real effort to legitimize cryptocurrencies. It's very difficult to tell at this point.

I keep seeing lots of retweets about Maza, including some from the infamous Max Keiser. It's hard to imagine such a vocal figure as Payu doing all this networking about mazacoin just to shill it.

I have never been so on the fence about a coin before. At this point in this game it's hard to tell which coins are legit and which are just blatant pump and dumps. Ultimately I find it hard to believe that a three-person team would commit to all this effort just for their new currency to get listed on mintpal, hit its peak, then peak again on cryptsy and die immediately afterward.

I know we've had 140 pages of discussion, which is phenomenal considering the age of this coin, but I want to know all of your thoughts right now. Is MazaCoin a legitimate effort or is it just an elaborate pump and dump scheme? Only time will tell.

AnonymousPirate certainly had grandiose ideas when I talked to him. Whether or not he was talking about of his ass remains to be seen. He unloaded a ton of information on me in that chat. There are things that throw up red flags for me, but there other things that don't. I don't know what to think anymore, really. I'm just as much on the fence as you are. Not a good place to be.

Yeah, I'm with you on being confused about the late happenings and news around the coin. Some timings seems suspicious, and some news and reports on the other hand gives some confidence.

Here's some bits that I've managed to write down:
// Videos by IGM Pro (http://www.igmpro.com/, whois: igmpro.com has been registered on 07/04/2013.):

- Company from 2013, seems like a project/company with community ties?
- Duck race also seems to be a yearly community event: http://www.regionalhealth.com/Ways-to-Give/RCRH-Foundation/Giving-Programs/Duck-Race.aspx

// Active community news site report on MazaCoin: http://madvilletimes.com/2014/03/pine-ridge-activist-promotes-bitcoin-spin-off-as-official-lakota-currency/
- Not too good of an impression by the local people? Or just ignorance by the writer? (he seems somewhat misinformed on the idea too?)

// WSJ article: "CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post said mazacoin had been adopted as the Lakota currency. It has not been officially endorsed by the council." http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2014/03/07/lakota-indian-promotes-new-digital-currency-mazacoin/
- Something to do with the cases of already previously mentioned trouble with FBI? (mentioned in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tyb0LVgW8q8 "Keiser Report: Guest Payu Harris on native American Indians using Bitcoin (23Jan14)")

// BTC Oyate Projects pages not reachable (http://www.btcoyateproject.cf/)

Neither will they use Bitcoin. Might as well sell all your crypto now and trade magic cards.

This is what happens when people try to change their world. They get attacked.

Look at Bitcoin.

If you cannot handle Crypto. Then go home now.
Meanwhile behind the scenes hundreds of millions and possibly billions are being invested in Bitcoin businesses.

Very slow, can't cancel orders in 1-2 seconds like @mintpal.

fun watching the orderbook on cryptsy. None actually buys anything, just moving around the orders like crazy, haha.

By the way, it seems that the market has stagnated, doesn't move either up or down much.

yeah ?

MZC/BTC    MazaCoin    222 BTC

That is Maza volume so far on Cryptsy.

You people amuse me. Always complaining when price drops. Out comes all the "scam" talk.
The prices go up and down all the time on all these coins.

You really think this coin isn't at some point going up again?
Even total scam coins came back from the DEAD to go up 1000%. Totally abandoned coins like TIPS. TWICE!!! A fortune. Get some brains and pay attention people.

If you bought it yesterday at 4000 and sold at 7000 today do you realize how much money that is in 24 hours in profit?
That is exactly what it did in price INCREASE today.

It's hilarious to read what people are writing.

Be happy it goes down. When it hits a bottom then buy it. That is a GOOD thing.
If you don't someone else is happy to make that 60% profit in a day for you.

MazaCoin went from 15k to 4k once it hit Cryptsy.  Why would you even sell that low?

Has anyone had trouble with mazacoind taking a long time to respond? If I just run "./mazacoind getinfo" it takes 16 seconds. The blockchain is downloaded and current, server load is fine, other coins returning getinfo in < .1 seconds. Not sure where to even start to try and figure this out. Nothing unusual in the .mazacoin/debug.log file.

If I tail -f the debug.log file, the ThreadRPCServer method=getinfo doesn't appear until after the long delay either. So it might just be in the client side.

Edit: Actually, the instant I do the getinfo command some CBlock stuff appears in the log file instantly. Then ~16 seconds late some more, the method line, and the result is available. Watching top, mazacoind maxes out the CPU until the response is provided.

Edit: Someone provided a fix here that worked great: http://cryptominers.freeforums.org/post232.html#p232

Because people hate money, so they just throw it away. Like 'oh I got 200$, oh wait I hate it!, it's too much, let's throw 150$ away.
