Proof of Stake

Bitcoin uses a cryptographic hashing algorithm to encode the transactions in the blockchain. Miners create these hashes by
using a ‘Proof of Work’ (PoW) algorithm. The network hashrate is actually inflating as it requires a lot of
power to create a new block in its blockchain.

Unlike Bitcoins PoW mechanism, Helix blockchain uses a hybrid system. The first 90.200 blocks are PoW, and after this period we switch to a PoS mechanism.
The rewards a user receives depends on the amount of stake the participant has in the Helix network. The more you participate in validating and processing
Helix transactions and its blocks, the more rewards you receive. Therefore, it’s incentivized to invest in Helix as a valuable core product.

Masternodes

The value of Helix lies in its main vision: building a secure and scalable currency. Therefore, Helix implemented masternodes, which can be used to earn more Helix by passive income to increase your holdings with a great risk/reward ratio. A masternode costs 10.000 HLIX and gives a ROI of 60%.

Masternodes are enhanced nodes that are always up and running, which provide additional functions and security to the Helix network. Masternodes provide an enhanced form of staking, increase the privacy and speed of transactions and enables participation in governance and voting within the Helix community. A Helix masternode processes Zerocoin (zHLIX) transactions which ensures topnotch privacy (more about this subject under ‘Privacy’).

Helix believes in true and strong privacy. Bitcoins transactions are traceable for anyone who’s interested to find out. A high degree of privacy doesn’t allow this potential loss of privacy. That’s why Helix implemented the Zerocoin protocol. For detailed information about Zerocoin, read their whitepaper.  

For this service, Helix coins have to convert into a zHLIX coin. This process, called ‘minting’, is provided by masternodes running on the Helix Blockchain. No traces are left behind during this process. RSA-2048 encryption makes sure no information about the users is shared whatsoever. To reverse this process, you can send your zHLIX coins to your own address back into regular HLIX coins.

I'm sorry you feel this way. The reason that we decided to make it PoW for the first 2 months is to generate the initial coins to start the PoS phase with. As we are not planning to be a short term project that just cash grabs and runs, we are NOT doing an ICO. If you prefer to just buy your coins instead of mining, you're always free to buy them of the exchange once we are live.

Heya guys, don't mean to interrupt, it's just that our community at our discord saw your post and wasn't too happy about this comment so they asked me to comment.

I'm one of the core team of Hilux coin and yeah we're not on bittrex or binance, and our coin has been discovered by the community at their own initiative when we were busy building infrastructures. Our main focus wasn't to do a premine and then try to make money out of it because we would be better off making pure masternode coins instead. Pure masternode coins (or close to pure MN) are controlled mostly by the founders because they will own the initial masternodes which in turn generates the coins, hence it is more centralized than Hybrid types like Hilux. It is also easier to sell coins when a coin uses pure Masternodes because they are only available at the disposal of the founders.

Hilux uses Masternode and Proof of Work which allows more decentralization so that miners can earn their own masternodes and we encourage the public to do that. This in turn distributes the coins to the public than the founders.

Due to earlier attacks from rogue nodes we set up a really strict node banning system, to make sure that your node doesn't ban all nodes leaving you with 0 connections, add:
banscore=10000
bantime=5
(and addnode=173.212.198.12 if you want a fast connection, it should find the node within a minute by default though)

to your .conf and restart your wallet. After this go to your console and type "clearbanned" (without the "s of course) and press enter. You should be getting connections now.

Proof of Stake

Bitcoin uses a cryptographic hashing algorithm to encode the transactions in the blockchain. Miners create these hashes by
using a ‘Proof of Work’ (PoW) algorithm. The network hashrate is actually inflating as it requires a lot of
power to create a new block in its blockchain.

Unlike Bitcoins PoW mechanism, Helix blockchain uses a hybrid system. The first 90.200 blocks are PoW, and after this period we switch to a PoS mechanism.
The rewards a user receives depends on the amount of stake the participant has in the Helix network. The more you participate in validating and processing
Helix transactions and its blocks, the more rewards you receive. Therefore, it’s incentivized to invest in Helix as a valuable core product.

Masternodes

The value of Helix lies in its main vision: building a secure and scalable currency. Therefore, Helix implemented masternodes, which can be used to earn more Helix by passive income to increase your holdings with a great risk/reward ratio. A masternode costs 10.000 HLIX and gives a ROI of 60%.

Masternodes are enhanced nodes that are always up and running, which provide additional functions and security to the Helix network. Masternodes provide an enhanced form of staking, increase the privacy and speed of transactions and enables participation in governance and voting within the Helix community. A Helix masternode processes Zerocoin (zHLIX) transactions which ensures topnotch privacy (more about this subject under ‘Privacy’).

Privacy

Helix believes in true and strong privacy. Bitcoins transactions are traceable for anyone who’s interested to find out. A high degree of privacy doesn’t allow this potential loss of privacy. That’s why Helix implemented the Zerocoin protocol. For detailed information about Zerocoin, read their whitepaper.  

For this service, Helix coins have to convert into a zHLIX coin. This process, called ‘minting’, is provided by masternodes running on the Helix Blockchain. No traces are left behind during this process. RSA-2048 encryption makes sure no information about the users is shared whatsoever. To reverse this process, you can send your zHLIX coins to your own address back into regular HLIX coins.

Coin information

Helix is founded on September 1st 2018. A total coin supply of 500.000.000 HLIX will be created, with a functional pre-mine of 1% (5.000.000 HLIX). Proof of Stake

Bitcoin uses a cryptographic hashing algorithm to encode the transactions in the blockchain. Miners create these hashes by
using a ‘Proof of Work’ (PoW) algorithm. The network hashrate is actually inflating as it requires a lot of
power to create a new block in its blockchain.

Unlike Bitcoins PoW mechanism, Helix blockchain uses a hybrid system. The first 90.200 blocks are PoW, and after this period we switch to a PoS mechanism.
The rewards a user receives depends on the amount of stake the participant has in the Helix network. The more you participate in validating and processing
Helix transactions and its blocks, the more rewards you receive. Therefore, it’s incentivized to invest in Helix as a valuable core product.

Masternodes

The value of Helix lies in its main vision: building a secure and scalable currency. Therefore, Helix implemented masternodes, which can be used to earn more Helix by passive income to increase your holdings with a great risk/reward ratio. A masternode costs 10.000 HLIX and gives a ROI of 60%.

Masternodes are enhanced nodes that are always up and running, which provide additional functions and security to the Helix network. Masternodes provide an enhanced form of staking, increase the privacy and speed of transactions and enables participation in governance and voting within the Helix community. A Helix masternode processes Zerocoin (zHLIX) transactions which ensures topnotch privacy (more about this subject under ‘Privacy’).

A Helix MasterNode can be run if you can lock away 10.000 Helix coins. This means that the coins must remain in the Masternode, otherwise it will not run.
It will then generate a great ROI of 60%.

A Masternode does not only generate coins for you but also serves as a technical aid for the Helix network.
The Masternode can be seen as an enhanced wallet that you run on your PC.
The wallet on you PC also supports the network by for example confirming transactions (stakes you receive, coins you send and receive) from other users.

A Masternode performs for example:
- Enhanced form of staking
- An increase of privacy and speed of transactions
- Enables participation in governance and voting within the Helix community

Normal Masternodes must have a very high % of network availability (for example 99,9%). The Helix Masternodes will continue to operate (generate coins) when they are offline.
Sure it is better for the network to keep them available a much as possible to perform the technical functions described above.

We just released wallet v1.1.1. This is an optional release on top of the mandatory v1.1.0 release.

V1.1.1 changes:

- Dnsseeds have been added to the wallet to increase the connectivity of the wallet to other nodes
      - This should also increase the additional sync performance after wallet startup

V1.1.0 changes:

- We added a new Masternode add button to the wallet for masternode owners.
      - Masternode owners can now add their masternodes to the masternode.conf file via the wallet itself, it will automatically generate a private key and import the unused masternode outputs to the text box!
- We also fixed some bugs such as:
      - Wallets that under some conditions stopped staking and needing a restart to start staking again.
      - The timestamps during sync showing the current time instead of the block time.
      - Many more little fixes

This release is mandatory, you need to at least run this (v1.1.0) version before we reach block 216000 (around feb 3rd 2019).
To update your wallet, simply close the old helix-qt.exe, remove it and open the new one..

At the moment 16.4 million Helix coins are in circulation of the total maximum of 500 million.

In the beginning of the project, the first 90.200 blocks of the Helix blockchain were generated by POW (about 10.000.000 coins).
POW are the real miners that use heavy calculating power to generate the hashes.
As POW is done by just a few people, the generating of Helix coins (reward for the POW) was not evenly distributed across the Helix community.

As of block 90.200 and above, the blocks are only generated by POS.
Everyone with Helix coins can receive POS reward via the work the wallet does for the Helix network (securing the network).
The more coins you have, the higher you network weight is and the more rewards you receive (Helix coins).
Because a lot of people have the Helix wallet that does the good work for the Helix network, the Helix network is very secure.

When you look at this, you understand that a network pool, where for example 1000 people drop a few coins in, is not very good for the Helix network.
This because in this way there is only one active wallet servicing the Helix network instead of 1000 wallets.
But, for someone with just a few coins, this is a nice way to receive good stakes

Please note that the bot holding your coins in Discord is not always 100% reliable or available. Better not to keep to many coins within it. So move the Helix coins to you local wallet from time to time.

When you start using your Helix Wallet, always encrypt the wallet first, this will prevent someone from abusing your precious Helix coins.

You can encrypt you wallet via:
- Settings
- Encrypt wallet
- Enter the password (encryption key) twice
- You will see a warning that if you lose your encryption key you will lose access to you coins (KEEP YOUR encryption key SOMEWARE SAFE)!
- The wallet will shutdown itself.

You can now start you wallet again. The wallet will just start without asking for a encryption key, that sounds strange.
It is not that strange because if you want to make a withdraw, you have to enter the password.
Please be aware that for staking, you also must open you wallet:
- Settings
- Open wallet
- Enter the encryption key and check the checkbox: "For anonymization, automint, and staking only"

Now your wallet is safe and still open for staking your Helix coins, great!

Be sure you have a backup of your Helix wallet at all times!
If your PC or laptop crashes or gets stolen, you will not be able to recover your Helix coins.
That would be very nasty.

There is just 1 file that you need to be able to recover your Helix wallet and that is the wallet.dat file.
You can make a backup of this file from within the Helix wallet:
- File
- Backup Wallet...
- Select a location to store the file and give the file a name and press Save

IMPORTANT
Don't save the file on the harddisk of your PC or laptop! If your PC or laptop crashes, you will lose both your wallet and backup-file.
Make sure you place the file on another medium like an external Harddrive of USB-stick.

It is also possible to place the backup on for example Dropbox or One-Drive.
Please make sure that you don't just put the file there in plain site! A rouge administrator from Dropbox or One-Drive could just steel the file and steel your Helix coins (ok, only if you did not encrypt your wallet).
You can use 7-Zip (Freeware) to encrypt the backup-file of your Helix wallet.
Then nobody can just steel your precious Helix coins!

But what to do if your PC crashes, how do you regain access to your coins?
Well, here we go.

After you get your computer up and running, download the latest Helix wallet from:
- https://github.com/ProjectHelixCoin/helix/releases
- https://www.helix-crypto.com/#downloads

Just install the wallet.
When the installation has finished and starts to synchronise the complete Helix block-chain, you can just close it again.
Then go to "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Helix" and remove everyting in this folder (files and folders).
Place the "wallet.dat" file from your backup in this folder and start the Helix wallet installation again and let it completely synchronise.
When the wallet has completed the synchronisation, your coins should appear in your wallat.
Also the complete history of transactions will appear.

Great, you can now continue to have enjoy your Helix coins!

Proof of Stake

Bitcoin uses a cryptographic hashing algorithm to encode the transactions in the blockchain. Miners create these hashes by
using a ‘Proof of Work’ (PoW) algorithm. The network hashrate is actually inflating as it requires a lot of

Unlike Bitcoins PoW mechanism, Helix blockchain uses a hybrid system. The first 90.200 blocks are PoW, and after this period we switch to a PoS mechanism.
The rewards a user receives depends on the amount of stake the participant has in the Helix network. The more you participate in validating and processing
Helix transactions and its blocks, the more rewards you receive. Therefore, it’s incentivized to invest in Helix as a valuable core product.

Masternodes

The value of Helix lies in its main vision: building a secure and scalable currency. Therefore, Helix implemented masternodes, which can be used to earn more Helix by passive income to increase your holdings with a great risk/reward ratio. A masternode costs 10.000 HLIX and gives a ROI of 60%.

Masternodes are enhanced nodes that are always up and running, which provide additional functions and security to the Helix network. Masternodes provide an enhanced form of staking, increase the privacy and speed of transactions and enables participation in governance and voting within the Helix community. A Helix masternode processes Zerocoin (zHLIX) transactions which ensures topnotch privacy (more about this subject under ‘Privacy’).

Privacy

Helix believes in true and strong privacy. Bitcoins transactions are traceable for anyone who’s interested to find out. A high degree of privacy doesn’t allow this potential loss of privacy. That’s why Helix implemented the Zerocoin protocol. For detailed information about Zerocoin, read their whitepaper.  

For this service, Helix coins have to convert into a zHLIX coin. This process, called ‘minting’, is provided by masternodes running on the Helix Blockchain. No traces are left behind during this process. RSA-2048 encryption makes sure no information about the users is shared whatsoever. To reverse this process, you can send your zHLIX coins to your own address back into regular HLIX coins.

Coin information

Helix is founded on September 1st 2018. A total coin supply of 500.000.000 HLIX will be created, with a functional pre-mine of 1% (5.000.000 HLIX). This will be used for marketing, development and exchange listing fees. The first period will exist of a PoW phase (10.000.000 HLIX), followed by a PoS phase (485.000.000 HLIX).
