We need an API so badly..

Ok peeps, we've heard the many calls for an API. Now, help us define the minimum viable product. There's is a huge difference between a simple monitoring (read-only) API reporting per-gpu temp/fan/hashrate/shares compared to a full-fledged sgminer-style API being able to modify and control anything. Naturally, the former is our intended first version, but it would be helpful to get some feedback on the following:

  • What API features do you need for your operation? Feel free to reference other APIs/miners if you need to.
  • What third party monitoring tools do you use that need to integrate with the miner over the API?

You can dump replies here or in a PM if you don't want to describe your op in public.

Just make it CCMINER read-only compatible so all monitoring/control software in existence can support it and we'll be golden..

No need to have a write/control API. Just restart the program.

great almost 6mhs on rx 580 and 12 on vega 64

How do yue get that speed??

I have only 4.9 Mh on sapphire 580 nitro with patched timings CC 1250  MC 2070, so what i do wrong ?

Wow guys, how you get these numbers?
Im using rx580 4gb diff vendors but havent got more than 3,7mhs with 1360mhz...clock using stock frequency 1750mhz but ethereum modified bios.

I think they are not talking about lyra2z algo. I also cant get them past 3.6Mhs.

Yes, I think there has been some confusion regarding posted lyra2z vs phi2 hashrates... Smiley

1. BUS number per GPU when miner starts, its very important when more than one miner running in system.
2. may be --reorder option.
3. temp monitoring(read-only) per GPU.

CCMiner compatible API, or even better XMRig/XMR-Stak, since its json and you can add additional information

This way you can easily integrate in many tools

I am developing (and using) Forager https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3516114.0 , so I can add support for a different API, but a common one would be great

Regarding features, most commonly used are:
- Hashrate (per device and/or total) - This is the only thing I actually need to integrate with Forager
- Submitted/Valid/Invalid shares
- Temperatures

What rate are you guys getting from RX 570? I get (with OC etc) 4.4M phi2 and 2.7 lyra2z, but I use legacy opencl and not rocm because I have old CPU and motherboard that do not support GEN3 PCIE as required by rocm

well it all depends on how much W can your cards get. for example i have rx 570 where is limit 117W and despite i set anything, 900+mV it all the time hit the wall 117W and start lowering Mhz. so in this case maximum for me is 2,7xx for lyra2z (havent tried phi2). however when my card has higher W limit, im able to reach 3,1xxMhz with rx570.
I got exactly the same results! Rx 578-574 1250 core 950 mv on Phi2 4.2 , on Lyra2z 2.7 ! Is it even possible to get 6m/h on phi2 and 3.7 on lyra2z with 120-130 power usage? cause there is no point to get such results with 170+!

Anyone know if this can be run in parallel w/ a cryptonight miner, given the low use of mem?

Following up on the API topic: like many have pointed out, there are many pros with implementing a known API. However, we believe it needs to be both open source and a multi-algo miner API, which disqualifies some suggestions. Since we're AMD only, the natural target is sgminer, it makes it much easier for us to test things. Therefore, we're targeting the following setup in an upcoming release:

  • Implement the sgminer API v4.0 (sgminer 5.5-gm is a good reference)
  • We will not have time to add ADL/sysfs support for fans/temps, that will be added later.
  • We will support both the ugly text-based and json-based formats.
  • No privileged commands will be supported for now, the API is read-only.
  • We will verify correctness against a few known monitoring tools, Awesome Miner is one of them. If you have other suggestions, let us know.
  • PCIe bus id for each gpu will be displayed on startup and made available over the API to map cards against other tools.

Wow guys this miner got me down from 1520 w from wall to only 1060watts from wall  Shocked
thats almost one third! Im amazed.

config is 1366 core 300 memory and 850mv, if some cards wont work i give them 875mv and it's ok then. Hashrate the same but so much better power efficiency. Thanks again!

What cards you have that those are able to work 1366@875mV?

You've developed great software! It worked for months, not hanging and not requiring maintenance at all! Unfortunately, the lyra2z died, I had to switch to another algorithm. But thank you for my time saved. I hope that you'll increase the number of supported algos. Today we need cryptonight v8. =)

VIRUS

that's funny since it came from you who just started a thread claiming author of BMiner and trying to distribute that software thru blockchain.su which is a complete copy of AwesomeMiner website discovered by other users.

RX 580 - 8gb, three of them are special edition, they work at 1411 core.

Thank you for the kind words! Todxx is the main target for your sunshine though Smiley. It’s quite possible that we will roll out CNv8 in a few weeks. The upside is limited due to the memory-bound characteristics of the algo, but we’ll see where we end up. For CN Heavy, I’m quite confident we will produce the fastest miner so far. Dev time is the limiting factor for us right now.

We chose to not run a self-moderated thread for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, it means we have to accept idiot posts like yours. I hope you can find something more fulfilling to do with your life than this.

For me, I didn’t get a M.Sc. in Computer Science, work professionally in various low-level contexts for N years, spend countless of hours studying the AMD GCN ISA specs in my spare time to then bootstrap a hobby project like this to try to steal 50 GIN from some poor guy’s wallet.

VIRUS

I just want to support devs of this miner since it's the best and most stable miner I've ever used. My rigs literally work for a month without any problems or freeze on lyra2z.
Ohhh...Ex57 you're a complete idiot...sorry if I forgot to mention that.

Can't imagine beating JCE miner hashrates for cn7/heavy/saber right now - that would be nuts!

If you can figure out how to do a dual cn - l2z/phi2 miner tho...  props

I would be ok with 10% dev fee if it was lyra2z+cn or any that can combine unused memory from lyra2z.
