Depends on what you mean by success.

I think crypto already succeeded something that we all wanted, a money that we can call our own without any backing from government or companies. However we forgot that in a free market without a decentralized bank or any governmental backing without regulations, its just wild west, any rich man can manipulate the market however they want in order to make money.

We need to go back to old ways when bitcoin was a money in itself instead of a commodity people make money from, bitcoin needs to be used like "you give me x and I will pay you with btc" instead of "you buy btc now and sell when it goes up".

While decentralized system brings some advantages, it also brings a disadvantages like security issues, anonimity (gives advantages and disadvantages, and many more. Just want to say, what you have been saying in the OP is basically right, but lets not forget that every system alwaya have its advantages and disadvantages.

Although i agree that cryptocurrency can be a big success, it is still a long way to go before all people adapt this technology.

Crypto currencys will certainly be successful in the future. I doubt whether it will be the only means of payment, but it will certainly make up most of the payments one day.
