How is that being a formal player? luck isn't associated by being a formal player, a veteran or so. Luck comes in unexpected times so that's a mystery that will never be solved by anyone on when it really comes. I reckon with that part whne you don't have a self discipline you're likely to stumble whenever you gamble. But to mention, OP has learned that you can win in gambling. What he said before is the result of his frustration and losses. |

In my opinion, in gambling there is never a clear consistency so I agree with you that it's particularly hard to win in gambling without self discipline. Even if you have self-discipline,you can't always win in gambling.The percentage of winning is just very little compared to losing.Sometimes if you're really unlucky that day,you will only lose for sure.So gamble only what you can afford to lose so you won't feel so frustrated whenever it turns out negative. |

The chances of winning in a lottery is very low. The more numbers you need to pick means lower chance of winning. In sports betting you have higher chance of winning, there's even odds that can help you pick which team to place your bet and which one has a higher chance of winning. I would rather place a bet on sports betting than lottery.

So you are saying that if a gambler, let's say I am a gambler and I have a discipline I can win in gambling? I don't know about that. I do gamble myself and I can descipline myself, from stopping immediately on gambling to prioritizing my tine into something more important but I don't really win a lot of my gambling sessions. Both of you are correct there is no specific the best answer for this. To the fact that if you can win the game and you have the discipline to yourself then you can make a profit. Why? I just had a really bad day gambling today with Roma losing a ticket for me and their odd was 1.20 and they were playing against the last place of Italian Serie A. I thought a bad day and move on and played another ticket this time I choose Brondby as they were playing at home against a team they had beaten almost always and the odd was 1.35. This was even worse as Brondby lost 2-4 at home to a team quoted from the bookies at 8.5
Now I am not an expert in gambling but this day was a really eye opener for me, you can never win in gambling. Imagine when you can't win in lotto , soccer betting or whatever you call it, you don't have a chance in slots.
We can win money in gambling if we have luck. But gambling itself versus us or versus you, I think yes we can never win. Try to compute/total the money you put in gambling then compute the money you got in winning. For sure the money you put is greater than the money you got. It will be wiser if we just save our money than putting it to gambling. Certainly, we all know it is possible to win money only if you are lucky, but the question is how many people tend to get lucky over time when compared to those who are losing over time. The second question is that how many people have actually been able to control themselves over time, without having to blow away all their winnings at the end of the day which is what most lucky people who have inflicted themselves with gambling addiction always end up doing. It is better to always have that mindset that you cannot win in gambling so that when you have that in your mind, it will be easy to control yourself and if you are able to control yourself you will be able to value any huge winning if you get lucky. |

No matter how good our skills, if we cannot control the emotion, then we cannot win in gambling. But if we can do this and when we can win the game, we can stop the game. But this will be difficult to do especially if we still want to chase the money from another game. Can I ask what do you mean in your words "Formal Player". I agree that you cannot win if you can't control yourself and don't have discipline but at the contrary, I think what is important is you have luck on your side. Even you have this 2 attitudes if you aren't lucky then its useless. This 2 attitudes + luck is important if you want to win in gambling. |

it just means that you were pretty unlucky

Yeah you can win in gambling but if you total how much do you spend with the your total winnings, you will see that you are at a loss. This is what @FlightyPouch said and I agree with it. I don't gamble much because I have no time and gambling is not my hobby. Gambling for me is just for fun and I just gamble when I feel I need to. I know that winning in gambling is very hard so when I gamble, I risk a small amount of money only. Absolutely right, nobody can win in gambling forever. You will win several times but finally you will lose because it is the nature of gambling. To avoid such situations you should fix time and money limits for gambling and never tries to cross that limit. First of all you should try to quit gambling forever because it is not good at all. You will ruin your life with regular gambling. |

You can win, only if you know when to stop. It's a matter of right attitude towards gambling. I heard a lot of successful stories of gambler here and most of them has the same attitude. After winning they put a certain percentage for investment then only a portion of winnings was use to gamble again, that tactics will surely help you to control yourself and not to lose too much on gambling. If you want to avoid big loss then you should fix a time and bet limit for yourself and never accede that limit. If you gamble continuously then no doubt you will lose your money. I never gamble too much because I know that the consequences of gambling are always in worst and you will not only lose your money but may go in debts because of the continuous gambling. That limit is something that is very necessary for every gambler and without it; the possibility of doing things you would not have done in your right mind will suffice. I have seen what gambling has done to people and that is just because they refused to not caution themselves when things were getting out of hand, and the bad thing is that once you miss that point where you have to caution yourself, retrace your footsteps and make amendments by setting your limit, the chances of coming out of it becomes close to impossible. So it is better not to even allow the emotion overwhelm you at all. |

If you will be grabbing a dictionary close to you or maybe just searching the word "discipline", this will be the given meaning. the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience. So, even if you obey the rules in a casino or gambling sites, I don't think you would be able to win your gambling games. I think the discipline comes after or before you gamble. |

I'm not sure what you say is correct because from what I observe, the result in sports betting is always scheduled before the game begins, it means your analysis or research, it does not work, the results have been decided by others, it will not change. You always think you win because of your experience and analysis but in reality you are just being manipulated, and you can win a few times, but gradually, the results will make you desperate when you constantly lose while your analysis is very reasonable, the scenario is always the same |
