Thanks to this new rule, I got demoted to Newbie. And to say the least i am truly devastated about this. I do not see myself a "shitposter", if i may say. I do research everytime i replied for a topic for it to appear as constructive as it should be. I do my job seriously because i consider this as my bread and butter. All the tokens that rewarded to me here were intended for the school needs of my daughter being a single parent.
Can i still be rewarded the tokens intended for my then Jr. Member rank from the signature campaign i've participated? I do need some advise on this, please.

I checked your post history and I didn't see "research". You're posting generic phrases in meaningless megathreads. If this is your job you should consider a career change.

You may get your signature payment but you need to talk to your campaign manager. This thread is not the place for that.

Is there a place where we can post merit abuse? I've found a few users already who "randomly" send out merits on the 17th..

Agreed with this new rules. This forum isn't just for kidding or spam talks useless, therefore don't assume this is ordinary forum. Review before posting, so a newbie like me can obtain reliable information from here

Becoming a newbie again is very disappointing it is unfair for all members who was already a jr member. Yes I think it is good idea to prevent spamming activities and meaningless posts. However I think it is favor only to all higher ranked members that was old here in this forum. Demoting all jr members are not the good ways to decrease huge number of spamming rather it increase the total number of spammers.
Hello friend; getting  disappointed is not good.  One more think let me know you that all the junior members are not demoted.  junior member holding even a single merit are not demoted.
Take it as a challenge friend.  Devote at least one hour a day reading various threads available in different sections of the forum.  It will add to the existing knowledge level.
Then you will be posting various replies and I am sure you will get merits and again you will not only become junior member ; even you will become member and high ranks also.
Best of luck friend.

Hello friend; please note just getting sad is not the solution.  If you don't mind I will suggest you to become copper member.  you can become this by small payment.
After doing so you will be able to work under signature campaign.  Try objective to the point posts; then I am sure you will get merits.  Best wishes.

   Hello all moderators  Grin ,
Realy , I don’t want to give my judgment on this new decision before getting clear answers about my following questions :
1- do you think that buying copper membership will improve the newbie’s  posts quality ?
2- what is the main problem now , the increasing of  garbage-posting posts or the decreasing of high-level posts ?
3- are the newbies members only responsible for upgrading forum’s posts level ? if they aren’t only ,what are your related decisions to push or force the high-order members to improve their posts quality and do you have the tools which allow you to monitor and evaluate their performance in order to make the appropriate decisions to improve their performance? as what  now happening with newbies … thank you . Smiley

i still waiting for any one to answer my questions in this quoted post Roll Eyes

You are making good points here. I'm not a mod, but I felt I would comment what I thought regarding your claims.

Buying copper membership will do nothing regarding post quality of newbies, but it will reduce the registration of newbies who post garbage. It will discourage and demotivated the newbies to register since they need to pay a small fee to registered and even needed to put extra effort to ranked up to Jr. member level. Because I have seen that most of the people/bots will tend to join and just post shit in order to rank up just by wasting time here. When they ranked up by wasting time and moves immediately to earn money or shitcoins by just participating bounty/signature campaigns. As always I have believed that earning through the bitcointalk forum is not the problem but the way we do it.

In a nutshell Prevention is better than cure even though the cure is not perfect.

2- what is the main problem now , the increasing of  garbage-posting posts or the decreasing of high-level posts ?
I think its an ultimate effect caused due to both problems. We can't just say this is the exact root cause, but we can surely say that posting garbage posts will have the much heavier portion when we put those two problems in a scale.

No, all other members have their own responsibility for upgrading the forums level of post quality. All other ranks needed to put in extra effort, help the community members etc..in order to ranked up and they can't just get ranked up by only just wasting time and posting garbage. They need merits to ranked up. That's why theymos introduced the merit system at the beginning of this year. So any shitposter/bot even cant imagine to ranked up easily unless you are having merit abuser in your pocket. He might think now that why should I left any loopholes to the users who really don't care about the forum and put some restrictions in order to avoid ranking up sheer garbage posters.

Merit system is the appropriate decision that has been taken by admin in order to improve the posting quality of other members who really earned their rank by putting in extra effort when they posting. It is not the best, but at least for now it's doing the best what its supposed to do when it introduced in the first place.

I'm hoping these stats will help you to understand whats happening in the forum after introduction of the new rule.

I had noticed the "bug" which really sucked as I'm still learning about discussions in the crypto mind set. Hopefully this "bug" will not become the new way of making us Newbies pay to post! I like asking questions! I have learned quite a bit in the 9 months of being on here.

Thanks

Thanks to this new rule, I got demoted to Newbie. And to say the least i am truly devastated about this. I do not see myself a "shitposter", if i may say. Can i still be rewarded the tokens intended for my then Jr. Member rank from the signature campaign i've participated? I do need some advise on this, please.
Hello friend; please note just getting sad is not the solution.  If you don't mind I will suggest you to become copper member.  you can become this by small payment.

details are already given in Theymous  post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote
so its seems to me that if "newbies" want to get paid, they have to pay to play. still not making any post better but is ok if they pay.

I say limit topic post to 3 posts a week, unless replied to.

this would limit crap spamming post better than taking way bounties for newbies that are trying to earn while learning

How about the cancellation of Merit, which were accrued upon its introduction?

total 61 merits. not a very good prospect, right? Wink

I read 1,061 for nutildah, and 2 for you.  That's about 530.5 to 1, but who's counting?

Of course, you feel disinclined to support such a system in which you hardly have established any stake or to bash others for their merit status when you hardly have established any of such yourself either, for that matter.
I see 336 merits. the rest is the age of the account and the amount of flooding.

Get the fuck out of here with your stupid-ass nonsense that attempts to reframe what is merit or meritorious and your simplified conclusions regarding what constitutes forum contribution.  You are not adding value by attempting such superficial renditions about what is supposedly "worthy" within your newbie status on the forum.

I think you did a lot of useful things, but you do not need to be arrogant.

My supposed choice to be "arrogant" is your subjective assessment of the matter, and from my point of view, I was reasonably responding to your own attempt to assert yourself into provoking rather than adding any value to the subject matter.  Your assertion of arrogance seems quite inaccurate, given the context.

you do not know me

So what?  It does not matter whether you have prestige, value and rank in real life because the forum only assesses value based on your forum contributions and the rules that are established here (and changed from time to time).

and also understand that the situation is now unfair

You conclude that I "understand that the situation is now unfair."  Huh?   On the contrary, I agree that the decision and changes seem to be a reasonable balance based on what is being attempted to achieve, which is to filter out shit posts from farmed accounts, shills, trolls, spammers and scammers.

I also agree with theymos's suggestion that 1 merit is not difficult to achieve for newbies, and personally, I believe that he might be being overly generous when he allows copper membership to bring most of the same benefits as jr member status (at least posting of images and such), but that seems to also be a kind of compromise that he has concluded to be reasonable based on his perception of the matter (which I am not going to second-guess that kind of discretionary matter because overall the whole package of these recently implemented changes seems fair to me - in spite of various whinings from mostly 0 merited accounts and some other low merited accounts, like yours, that seem to be inclined to make common cause with the 0 merited newbie accounts based on non-substantiated assertions of "unfairness."   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  )

total 61 merits. not a very good prospect, right? Wink

I'll admit its harder for Newbs to get merits than higher ranking ones, but 95% of all Newbs just post senseless trash, which ruins its for the actual 5% who might actually have something interesting to say. Sorry but we're sick of the forum's quality being watered down by opportunistic spam artists.
you understand why this happens. it's all at the money. earlier this was a forum for communication. now for earnings. and newcomers are forced to spam because of the terms of the forum and campaigns

What? You're missing the entire point of the forum. Newcomers only come here because they mistakenly _think_ they can make a living spamming here. But they're wrong. They were always wrong. The recent changes were made to deter them from flooding the forum with useless posts so it can maintain its original intention as a place for communication.

Nobody's _forcing_ _anybody_ to spam. That's a ridiculous mindset to think they have to keep spamming the forum.
you are very naive. you think that such a measure someone will stop. read my appeal. above you will see a link. the rules of the signature compel create spam.

Why don't you work within the parameters that have already been established by the forum, Uesly_Future, and that is the existence and allowance of signature campaigns?  You have about a snowball's chance in hell changing the choice, in this forum, to have signature campaigns, at least in the short term.   You may need to create a new thread on the topic or at least find a thread in which that kind of proposal is being batted around.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

One thing that wasn't mentioned is that some existing merit sources seem to have gotten a source size increase as well, so there should be much more merit flowing.

merit should be flowing but...... I feel older more established accounts still wont give merit where merit is due. That being said I only post to new alt. coins topic post to learn about the projects. Chances are i will never receive merit.

I believe these rules are great to a point limiting amount of posts per week would be better than taking away signature bounties from newbies

Ohh yes! This is what I'm waiting for. Good job! should we celebrate now? Lmao.

After this, we can get low probability of sighting a shitposters in the bitcoin and altcoin discussion.  Cheesy
I really don't like shitposting at all and there are many threads, ideas and suggestion that has been created just to eliminate this activity. This implementation will really help our forum improve for the mean time.

This pretty much means there won't be anymore fake people on bounty signature campaigns.

I always had question. If you can get merit only if someone gives it to you. How does first person acquires merit ?
