"Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership."
are non-coppermembership "Member level" unable to use signature(apparently not?)

I think this is the perfect solution to make the forum better. And to reduce spam ... and also to find out someone's position whether he really wants to make a forum better ... or just do spam that is useless. Or just take to the advantage of this forum. I hope this forum will be better and better in the future ...

this new rule is a fair act, so that the scams in this forum are reduced and the forum will get better in the future ... and this is also a motivation for me to get merit from quality posts

--- With help from DdmrDdmr, I just added 36 new merit sources, which should help newbies achieve the requirement. But if you're incapable of posting anything worthwhile, then you will never rank up, and you shouldn't: this isn't the forum for you.
Maybe I missed something. Which 36 new merit sources?

I joined the Forum a long time ago but still had no merit because my English isn't really good. I join so many bounty but only a single signature for the mission that I am done but do not know the result will be like. Although this change will help avoid the situation many fraudulent accounts with the spam, phishing or just to join in signature of bounty. From now on I will learn much more about getting merit on the Forum. I will try with a few video tutorials help people account, typing shortcuts, using some tools ... 🤔

At the first time really surprised me but maybe this answers of people who feel annoyed with the spammers, hopefully the rules are going much improved, and new members and old member can give good contribution.

Maybe I missed something. Which 36 new merit sources? Merit sources always remain a secret right? Otherwise people will start following them around.

This may look like drastic measures, BUT I have seen huge increase of shitposting and empty posting, as well as scammers creating multiple duplicate threads, that I reported multiple times.
Maybe this will help bringing some order in bitcointalk forum, and making it cleaner.
I would also like to see some voting/suggestions on further reducing spam/scam posts.

Been a little busy for a few days. Today I logged in and saw this new rule implemented. Personally, I loved it. This will really help eliminating crap postings in the forum. A very good step indeed.
I really don't mind paying 20$ for copper membership. Can you please direct me to the thread with the benefits of copper membership? Thanks.
You don't need to pay copper membership in order to participate, you know that right? If you don't mind using the forum it is intended to be used, you won't even need the membership since the first thread you start will be everything that you need in order to become Jr. Member. At least if it has some form of value. Otherwise, here you go https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104.0I personally have mixed feelings, as for me it would be totally fine if Newbie could become a Jr. Member without the need of Merit. I'd instead restrict the signature privileges of Jr. Members more heavily or remove them entirely. For me, the rank of Jr. Member shows that you dedicated time and efforts. Those efforts may not be acknowledged yet (in form of Merits), but the member made them. A Newbie is someone who is new.

In as much as I don't like this idea I guess is for the greater good of this forum. Anyway I also suggest that the moderators of this forum should also be up and doing by deleting any post that is irrelevant to a topic on any board. I know they sometimes feel reluctant to do this because they don't want to be tagged as people who enforces censorship. We appreciate your efforts and contributions to this forum but I believe this forum should set some standards for all the other child forums to follow.

This will definitely affect a lot of people involved in the mission, including the signature, but I think it's really necessary for the development of the Forum in the future.
Those who join the Mission signature will have responsibility and contribute more quality articles because they need to have merit.
Bulk spam status to up the rank in forum will be more limited.
The project organized the bounty will find the participants really into their projects. I met a project has more than 300 member participating in the Mission signature and more than 100 of them they just act as a ghost account with few believe the garbage every week. That's not fair to the other people
The signature will be more valuable for almost every job, quality takes precedence over quantity.

What can be done if it has become a predetermined rule. With this rule I can't take part in the bounty, but I will stay here because in this forum I get insight into crypto.

It is a good initiative by the administrator, but the new members will find it very difficult to participate in bounties. It will be very harsh on those demoted

Who are we to raise concerns, in fact all these reforms are good, its for our own good and again for the sustainability of the forum. Check some negative practices such as multiple account holders and many others. My only worry is the timeliness of this new reform. I just saw someone with over 200 post who joined the forum early this year. Probably he might be in a bounty program with some about to end soon. I think this could have been done more appropriately with no hurts with enough consensus. What does the Future hold for Jr. Members?

Interested to see how this turns out in practice. The theory may sound good, but I can see how this could backfire, since now having an account with only 1 merit is already a desirable thing. Desirable things create incentives to get as many of it as possible. In this case, there will be an incentive to own 1 merit accounts to sell them to newbies that want to start getting some satoshis with bounties right away, so I can see a market for single merit points developing.
It's probably better than what we have now tho, since at the end of the day newbies will either have to pay for the account or get the 1 merit point themselves, only time will tell how the situation looks like after this change.
