1) General information, other items needed
(top)
WhatsMiner M10 is a Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner using 16nm ASIC chip technology,
manufactured by Shenzhen Bit Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (headquarters in Shenzhen, China).
They are also known short as MicroBT.

They have a overseas distribution partner that is called Team Pangolinminer.
This unit was received as a sample unit from Team Pangolinminer for this review.
Team Pangolinminer: www.pangolinminer.com  This is a ref. link.

WhatsMiner M10 is a standalone miner with a built-in controller board, like the previous WhatsMiner models.
You don't need a separate controller unit to run it.

This new miner has a new 16nm BTC ASIC chip. The exact model name for this ASIC chip is QA1800.
It provides the miner a very competitive nominal power efficiency, 0.065 J per Gh/s.

The miner comes with a built-in power supply unit, like the previous WhatsMiner model.
The new power supply unit is called WhatsPower P10.
It has max. 2250 Watt power capacity and it is able to work with mains voltage from 176 to 264 VAC.
This miner won't work in a 110-120 VAC mains voltage system.

There are many improvements in the miner design compared to the previous model,
especially a huge improvement in the miner performance and efficiency.

According to the official technical specifications,
the nominal hashrate is 33.0 Th/s with a nominal power consumption of 2145 Watts.

It weights 8.55 kg and outer dimensions are 390 mm (L) x 130 mm (W) x 220mm (H).

Technical specifications:

Dimensions: 390 mm (L) x 130 mm (W) x 220mm (H)
Working temperature: -5℃  -  40℃
Warranty time: 180 days after shipment

Other items needed:
  • C13 power cord suitable to your country's electrical socket.
Make sure that it is a good quality one and able to handle the over 2kW load
  • Ethernet cable to go to your router/switch
  • Computer to set initial pool and configuration settings.

2) Unpacking (top)
After the agreement with Team Pangolinminer for this review
and the sample unit was made, the delivery was quite quick.
This miner was sent from Hong Kong in September 12
and it arrived my place in Finland in April 17.
DHL was the courier used in this shipment.

The packaging style is 'the market standard'.
The miner is inside a plastic bag. Then there is a custom shaped pieces of foam.
And then this set is inside a cardboard box.
There is no extra space inside the cardboard box, which is of course a good thing,
because the goods might get damaged if they could move inside the box.

All in all the packaging design is good.

Inside the box you can find the miner with the built-in power supply unit
and also a C13 to Type I power cord (3x1.5mm2 wiring, good amp rating).
Unfortunately I personally need a Type F ('schuko') plug in the power socket end,
but it is no problem since I already had one ready for use.

Here is a bunch of images to show some details:

3) Overview (top)
Next you will be provided with a nice set of images showing both the miner and the built-in power supply unit.

4) Installation (top)
The installation is a very simple process.
Because there is a built-in power supply unit,
you don't have to install the power supply yourself.

You need to connect the Ethernet cable to your miner
and the other end of the cable to the router/switch device.

And then you need a good quality C13 power cord which fits into your electrical power socket.
Please make sure that it is able to handle the over 2kW power continuous load.

The miner has network settings set to the DHCP mode as a default
and the miner will acquire an IP address automatically from the router.
You can find out the IP address fairly easy by accessing your router
configuration page IP address list or by using a suitable software for it.

There is also an official IP found program called "WhatsMinerTool".
This program makes it possible for you to use the miner IP found function
and figure out the miner IP address.

WhatsMinerTool User Guide & Software:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XthbZPFc0S-FvMi9MqpLOJlUaFAc4auW

As soon as we know the miner IP address, we can move to the next chapter, Configuration.

There are also some tutorial videos,  which you can use for more help.
Note: the tutorial video below is for the M3X, but most of the instructions also apply with the new M10 model.

5) Configuration (top)
First thing you need to do, is to access the miner web configuration page
by filling the miner IP address in to your web browser's address field.

Then you must fill the credentials to login.
The username is root and the password is root by default.

Login screen. Click to show a high resolution image.

Now it is time to setup the mining pool settings.
You need to go through menus and find the Cgminer configuration page.
Click the drop down list and click 'custom'.

Now you are able to setup any pool address of your own choice.
You can set this miner to mine any SHA-256d algorithm based cryptocurrency in any mining pool of your choice.
This miner is not using the AsicBoost.

You can insert settings for three different pools, the pools have a following priority order: Pool 1> Pool 2 > Pool 3.
So if the first pool dies for some reason, the miner will automatically continue mining with the second pool.

Cgminer configuration page. Click to show a high resolution image.

Miner hash board frequency and cooling fan settings are automatic, there is no possibility to have your custom settings.

When you have all the settings ready, you can press 'Save & Apply'.

Then you can go through menus and click 'Reboot' to reboot the miner.

The startup process for the miner takes some time as it goes through the hash board frequency settings,
much like the S9 miner does, for example.

So you need patience when you start up this machine and
there is no need to be worried even though the numbers may look weird at first

After the startup process is ready, the miner automatically restarts the Cgminer
and after that the miner really starts to do the mining work.
You should now see the miner working at about 33 Th/s hash rate.

Miner status page. Click to show a high resolution image.

There are also pages for the system log and Cgminer API log.

By reading the log texts you are able to see specific details about the miner operation
and this kind of information is really helpful in case you need to do some troubleshooting.

These following screenshot images will demonstrate rest of the pages available in the miner web configuration
and this image set should provide you a good overview on the miner web configuration page.

System status and System properties. Click to show a high resolution image.

Administration page and Interfaces page. Click to show a high resolution image.

Processes page and Reboot page. Click to show a high resolution image.

6) Performance test (top)
After all the settings were set properly, it was of course time to test the miner.
When the miner was ready with the startup process, the hash rate rose to 33 - 34 Th/s area.
The average hash rate with my unit after one day was close to 34.2 Th/s.

Here is the miner status page view after one day of mining.

Miner status page. Click to show a high resolution image.

As usual, the power measurement was done with Perel E305EM6-G energy meter.

Technical specs data sheet (.pdf document):
https://www.perel.eu/downloads/22/e305em6e305em6ggbnlfresdptpl.pdf

Perel E305EM6-G. Click to show a high resolution image. Picture taken by HagssFIN.

Power measurement. Click to show a high resolution image. Picture taken by HagssFIN.

A stable result for the power consumption at wall was 2280 W,
and the average hash rate after one day of mining was 34.18 Th/s.

With these results we can calculate the power efficiency at wall.

2280 / 34180 = 0.0667 J  per  Gh/s.

7) Conclusion (top)
WhatsMiner M10 is a very efficient piece of gear in the currect Bitcoin ASIC miner hardware market
and they did it with 16nm process node tech, where as the competition is having trouble to achieve the same with smaller process node.

The power consumption is quite high as with the previous models,
but the cooling design is good and I haven't had any heat issues with my unit so far.
There are big sized heat sinks with high rev cooling fans
and the miner doesn't get too hot unless you have some crazy hot environment.
This is a very loud miner as most of the modern ASIC miners are,
and you don't want to have this with you in the bed room.

The miner price per hash rate could be a little more competitive at the moment,
when you consider the current situation in the bitcoin mining.

This machine performed just as advertised and a little better,
I got an average hash rate of 34.18 Th/s and the nominal rate is 33.0 Th/s (+-5%).

All in all I think that this miner is a great improvement in the WhatsMiner series.

I would like to thank Team Pangolinminer and Laurent, for giving this miner as a sample unit
and for the chance for me to do another WhatsMiner review here at the forum.

If you got any questions you'd like to ask, feel free to drop them in this thread.
I will try to give my best answer.

I am trying to get on this bandwagon too. My friend that is a bulk buyer got his hands on 1 today but bulk seems to be the best route to get them fast and at a good price.

I am really impressed by the M10 being on the 16nm process node.  Ever since they released the specifications been waiting for a review.  For myself it really reinforces the idea that being first to market on 7nm is not the right move.  If there is this much efficiency to be wringed out of 16nm then it would be best to take the time to optimize a full custom ASIC on 7nm.

Well the M10  I have does 68 to 70 watts a th  34500 at 2350 watts = 68.1 watts a th or damn!

And they now are talking about a 44th and a 55th m10s  all 16nm  truly impressive engineering.

My temps are really good in a 86f room fans are  5000-5100 rpm  boards are 73-73-75

I would like a lessor speed just for the ability to have  safety from a hot room  like 95f

Do they give any info on the firmware or a github. If so I can probably make it happen like I did for the S9/i/j

Great review and write up. They are definitely a company to watch. As it is I could put 3 of these in to replace everything I'm running and and just about double my TH/s

Crazy doing this on 16nm. Hopefully sales go well and they can get their hands on some 7nm.

To bad market isn't dictating the pricing their retailers, sorry "distributors" are sell these at. Fun to see them in action and the asic competition is fierce to. Great work HF, I sent links to both yours and philips thread to a few manufacturers in hope to draw some new units your way.

Whatsminer.net says this "Dimension: 13.38″ x 7.87″ x 6.69″ / 34cm x 20cm x 17cm"
Microbt says this "390 mm (L): 130 mm (L): 220 mm (A)"

HaggsFIN or anyone that have it could please measure the total height of this gear? Including the psu.

Thanks

Ebang is known for over-promising and under delivering. I got a long email chain with them from before but they seem more true to their word on this one. Time will tell and I think my email chain is getting my a front row seat to maybe getting my hands on on early since they know me on the forums. I might have to join this review bandwagon boys haha.

Hi!

MicroBT has it right.

Please see the technical specifications in my opening post.

I have checked and confirmed it,
those are the right dimensions.

Seems like a great unit. I am though waiting to see what Bitmain will come out with. 7nm, should be impressive.

or not..

many of their chips are not the leaders in efficiency .

They sell cheap gear cheap prices  been this way for a while in btc miners.

The thing is  if they put out a 30th at 2400 watts and sell it at  800-1000 it kills off everyone.

MicroBT is the manufacturer.

They say that the M10S can do 55 Th/s hash rate with 65 W per Th/s power efficiency
or 44 Th/s hash rate with 60 W per Th/s power efficiency.

So I suppose there are two different modes you can choose.

thanks for the clarification, so it would be a potential firmware modification or something. I was getting ready to order one since I'm not feeling the Antminer s15.

That's a great result Smiley

Btw I can see in the graphic user interface this thing --> Work Mode - Normal

Is there a way to choose a performance mode in this new firmware version?

Like for example Eco, Normal, Turbo etc.

Those numbers are great for a real world application.

Done waiting around to see what Canaan puts out for an 941 type model. I've been holding off on pulling the trigger, but I might grab 1 or 2 of these bad boys. Try to get them in the house and ROI quickly.

Yea, any db read on these phil or fanatic?

low power is manageable s-9 at mid speed mode.

high power is loud. s-9 when it was running in loud mode.

Don't have any t15 or s15.

So far the m10 31th is good.

 I had 1  m10 33th liked it order a second one

I had 2 m10 33 th like the two ordered a 31th

I now run 2 m10 33th and 1 m10 31th.  I like these 3 so much I ordered a fourth m10 the 31th

So I will soon have 34+34+31.5+31.5 = 131 th with 4 machines

799-10=789+91 = 880

10 dollar discount = HAPPY2019

My four units = ten s-9 miners.

Power is 2350+2350+2250+2250 = 9400 watts for 131th

If USA based buy 1 use dhl.

We'll i'll bring up researching duties for again for Canadian buyers. I think we had started to but with the tariffs here in the US that hit this summer we've focused on that. Specifically trying to get sidehacks new chips exempted.

I think our Canadian buyers have double though in the last month, I know a Canadian footprint is part of our five year plan (thanks to gcnelson here) but still dependent on continued activity and interest.

Back to the M10 though no db read? If it's relatively similar to the 100% fan speed s9 it might be my first upgrade in almost a year.

I have the 31th give me an hour.

just did a video of it on low power 20.4 th about 1280 watts

Your video will be live at: https://youtu.be/efLTk8BG7i8

give it a few minutes to upload

71 db at 1 meter pitch is okay
53 db at 6 meters hard to know it is running.

yeah high speed is louder but not terrible.

video should be loaded very soon.

it is ready to view

61 watt per TH thats not bad at all. I like the fans running at 3k instead of the typical 6k...

Why don't you build a wooden box with two 6" holes to put the miner inside, and use that insulating fabric to cover the inside of it, and add a bit of insulating 6" ducts to the holes? (It resembles a car muffler), something like this:

It is moving to a different spot and will run at 31 th.

my deal in new spot is 50 50 coin spilt and the hoster pays power.

noise is not an issue.

it you see that silver 5 foot board to the right in the video it ia a sound proof box that does wonders but I won't need to use it. as the hosting site is a large loud warehouse we will be installing a 300k-watt solar array on the roof which will create about 40k-watts 24/7/365 in a grid tie setup.

we will have a mix of:

s9 s9i s9j
m10
l3+

and a few pieces of odd ball gear.

once we get this done we will have a 120kwatt array and a 300 kwatt array.  plan is to do 1 or 2 a year in the 100 to 400 kwatt size.

divide by 6 or 7 to get your 24/7/365 number.

Box is decent, I wouldn't want to do that though. Then I've sound proofed my home interior wall, door and frame. All I'm worried about is when the wife is new the machines. That's a bigger headache for me than fan noise.

Thanks for the reads philip.

Well I'm pumped. I have 2 of the 31 TH models confirmed on order, I guess shipping out early next week.

I'm hoping I have these before I leave town for a bit, anyone know how long their shipping was from Pangolin to North America?

Side note while asking questions about the 2 models I was told this was the reason for the different hashrate. It was just the different chip batches they had ordered that resulted in the improvements.

DHL is always 3 days express, you'll know more obviously when tracking is sent. Watch for duties with a unit count of 2 since the package will be above de minimus value.

I think he is Canada and is subject to 5% but I talk to so many people in pm's I am not sure if I have him placed correctly.

It is cold in NJ today about -1C or 31f

So I cranked it up to full power it is doing 31.3 th at 2275 watts  which is 72 watts

I don't mind that it is less efficient as the place in the new solar array will let us do 50-50 on coins.

This should be a good setup for us.

A mix of new gear and old gear.

4 M10's =  130th   =   9200 watts
15 s9's =   200th   = 19125 watts
1 A921 =    20th    =   1900 watts
2 A721 =    10th    =   2100 watts
4 S7ln  =    10th    =   2400 watts
1 t2turbo = 20th    =   1600 watts

10 L3+  = 5gh       =    11200 watts

total of 47525 watts

the way New Jersey Works  we need establish   a 40kwatts 24/7/365 power draw
so we will pull 50kwatts for 4-6 months
get the solar in and drop to 40kwatts

the A721
the s7ln  do 4kwatts and will be dropped first
then we will drop s9's 5 s9s' is 6.5 kwatts

that is 10.5 so  we would be under 40   as 47.5-10.5 = 37kwatts

we will be adding m10's 1 at a time for months to come.
so the current 390 th will grow even thou we drop our watts from 47kwatt to 37kwatt

what is nice is the warehouse is so big we can provide 90kwatts 18x 30 amp 240 volt circuits

only 40kwatt would be solar but if we get a runup in coins we can fire up the old gear.

the plan is to go all m10  as 16 x 2300 = 36800 watts on high speed

and just have the old gear do nothing.  we could even go to 30 m10's at low speed  as 30 x 1280 = 38400 watts

and 30 x 21 th = 630th  all solar and if we have a runup we could do

30 x 2300 = 69kwatts
30 x 31.3 = 939 th

When I go to the new spot I will do some photos I need be careful to not expose building location etc.

Yes Canada here. They are subject to 5% GST. Depending on the shipment and whether its commercial or personal there is also generally the provincial sales tax.

Apart from that as long as I stay below 2500 CAD they can expedite it through customs.

I might be 4 days with my delivery location being rural. I'm going to have to keep an eye on them as the last time they handed the package of to a courier they pretty much tossed it into my lawn, yeah it was a miner. Lol

Either way I'll have to get on wiring in a new 30 amp circuit so these 2 can hit the ground running. Just remembered I have to do a cable count, as I might need to order 1 or 2. That or take my limpy t9+ offline.

You make them sound pretty great. I’d order some but I’m hesitant to spend the BTC right now. Might need to break down and get one while the low price model is still available.

OG

Don't spend the BTC then. This is assuming you just mean the coin at current value, and not funds in general. IIRC you operate a business, that is one fast way to be able to pay by wire with Pangolin. I can't say for sure but it seems they were going to try and work with me to send a wire as an individual but in the end I didn't need the special arrangement.

The review so far were enough for me to bite the bullet on these, I'm to wishy washy at times. Judging by what may or may not be a power issue with other gear I'm glad I went this route. I am getting excited, it's funny I was thinking back to my first new from manufacturer purchases in 2017, and I paid the same then for my 14.6 TH/S from the 2 741's.

Glad to hear they are close Phil, might even see it tomorrow. These haven't been shipping with a power cord have they? Was re-reading the OP and it looked as though one came in the box.

yeah I think a cord that does not work for a usa socket comes with it.

Been too lazy to rewire them.

To OG  they are only okay due to the new solar array  deal I got into with buysolar.

I would not do these with out that deal.

Just looked at our power cost. It's $0.13 per kw/h...so even this miner is unprofitable for me, at least at current prices. I won't even be able to break even in a short enough period.

We source from Pango ourselves, they always have a coupon in cart which is used unless bulk. A line to Whatsminer has been tiresome for a while.

Did I complain about my power cost in this thread either? I'll spare everyone.

Received my shipping details from Pangolin yesterday, should have them in hand Friday. Just gotta figure out what I'm keeping online and where over the weekend.

Anyone not buying these from Pangolin isn't doing their research. They were 125$ cheaper than whatsminer to begin with and the discount code just made it better. Not sure if there's some benefit for other countries that I don't see but it was clear cut for me.

I can't complain about electricity prices, that's what made these 2 an easy buy. I want to get them up and running and am considering a 3rd or 4th. This would essentially leave me all in on Whatsminer, decisions decisions.

Well, y'all convinced me and I have my 1st M10 on order from Pangolin. It will be nice having something other than my very healthy herd of Avalons and the few remaining s9's I have left which are slowly dying board-by-board.

Yea, hoping to get something soon. My link clicks ----> purchases are sparse now in this market. So lots put off. I'll probably be looking at cooling prep for summer or just get one efficient unit or two if I'm able. Just a tough time after holiday and car issues.

M10 is top of the list, since the db's are pretty low on LPM/efficiency setting from philipma's reads.

I am going to the Clifton solar build out on Thurs or Fri this week.

when we are done we should be at 400-425th  btc and 6gh ltc

All the s9's will be at the 1250 watt setting
the 4 m10's top speed
the t2t 24th turbo at balanced speed
the l3+ at stock speed low volts setting
the a921 at -2
the a721's at -1

I think we will pull about 46kwatts
we need to do 56Kwatts for 4 months
we will then do the solar and drop to 40 kwatts

I most  likely need 10-12kwatts of gear

say 5 more m10's

it will be nice to have  40kwatt free and up to 90kwatts if mining takes off

I had an issue with the shipping address with Pangolin.

I Opened a ticket 20 mins after my order to confirm what was my Billing address and shipping address.

They told me they would use the shipping address and did not. As soon as I received my tracking notice. I told them they didn't do it correctly.

Saturday(2.5-3 days after the order date): "Wait until Monday", On Monday, "can you re-confirm your shipping address ?" (Which i did) (It was already too late to changes it, all the shipping folks at my job told me so), Tuesday i got the delivery.

This is answer I had Tuesday when I told them I had to re-ship the unit myself to the correct address and it cost me like the double of the original shipping.

"Hello xxx,

DHL informed that the package has been signed for the delivery.

The delivery address can not be changed here."

I'm quite pissed off. I sent an email to Sales, Invoice and Logistic telling them this was quite an unprofessional way to go around an issue I flagged 3 days before they shipped the units and as soon as they did.

Now they gave me a compensation ticket 50$

Total lost 212$ us. (and 5 days of mining)

At least they answer to email.

I had an issue with the shipping address with Pangolin...

So you gave them an address say 123 Main Street.

You then said make the address 333 Broadway .

The first address you gave
The second address you gave.

I am asking because almost every seller won’t change addresses.
At least bitmain would not change
And Avalon would not change.

I think he was saying that he provided both a shipping and a billing address but, out of fear they would ship to his billing address, opened a ticket 20 minutes after placing his order to confirm they were shipping to his shipping address and not his billing address. Pangolin confirmed they would ship to the shipping address. Tracking number is provided by Pangolin upon shipment which showed the package was going to the billing address instead of the shipping address.

I've had this problem before with large and small retailers, especially when the shipping/billing are in the same state or even zip code (my billing address is only 3 miles from my shipping address and something like 5 miles from my office haha).

Exactly,

They had 3 days to fix it (3 days after my order, and 3 days after they shipped) and they didn't do it.

I don't know.

It's not cool in my opinion.

EDIT: Most poeple have the same billing address and shipping address but I had not. Billing at my address but shipping elsewhere.
EDIT2: Anyway not much can be done anymore, i will take the shipping lost but don't trust them about changing address .... even before they ship. Either they have a bad comminication or i don't know ...
EDIT3: All 4 are working great

Yeah
My gear is :
131 th are m10s
 40 th  are Avalon
 20 th are innosilicon
230 th are used s9s most purchased from bitcointalk members some from eBay and just 3 from bitmain.

We will let it sit for a week and then tweak it. I think we need to add 4 more m10s . Slowly but surely.

All the s9s I have are set to middle speed at 1280 watts.  If I drop them to ultralow
They would take 780 watts I have 18 of them so that is a 9000 watt drop. Or 500 x 18.

That means that 4 m10s added net   9200-9000 = 200 watts

I lose 18x3.5 = 63 th dropping the s9 power
I gain. 4x 31 = 124 th adding the four m10s

A 61 th gain and power cap goes up 200 watts.

So in two months we will be near 480th

Then
Drop the 2 a721s   Add one more  m10  a gain of 20th. 31th-11th = 20th maybe 100 more watch.

We would then be at 500th.  That brings us to April which is when the solar gets installed.

Yay. So definitely loving these machines.

They arrived Friday, in the worst possible way. Left on my porch for minimum 6 hours on a good old -30C day. Good times. Even better I had to show up at their location to find out.
I lay a lot of blame on DHL for this, as I knew I'd be near their local hub and requested a hold at location, instead they gave it to the local courier, who instead of holding delivered ... without signature.

So Friday night was just an unboxing and warm up/dryout in case. Tested 1 Saturday in the garage, then hooked both up Sunday.

1 unit was delivering 31.6 TH/S  The other was doing 30.5 TH/S pretty nice.

I am currently running the lesser in Low power mode, at approximately 15.8  up over 17 TH/S .

Hoping this continues nearing the 24 hour mark im hoping to get closer to the 20.

Yeah definitely not picnic weather, hence the attempt to get 8kw pumping in the basement. Just need to build soundproofing and I can get both back up to normal power mode.
Much closer to the 9f weather today, to my great relief on the way to work.

I'm reaching out to Pangolin and Whatsminer today to see if there are any support documents out. Anything in the way of troubleshooting or tweaking as the one unit just doesn't seem right, I'd also like to see a published spec for what to expect from low power mode.

I'm back to only getting 15.7 TH/S on that unit - haven't had a chance to test power draw, like won't before my trip this week. I gave it a reboot last night and will leave it for another 24 hours and see. Tonight I'm going to swap power modes on my 2 units to compare and see how my other unit (31.7 TH/S on normal power mode) runs.

Here's what my low power mode unit shows in the status - All devices show 105 effective chips

that is what mine do on low power setting.

I also do 20.5 th and about 1280 watts on low which is 1280/20500 = 62 watts a th

if you have 2 weak boards and total  15763  you should pull 978 watts

978/15763 = 62 watts a th

which is not a disaster efficiency wise

I wonder if DHL's 6 hours of  cold  hurt it.

all four of mine are good to go.

I wonder if the room is too cold for it.

Yeah your numbers are what I was using as a benchmark, as I can't find published low power mode numbers. Yours have been up and running for a while, do they stay with the Freq they lock in at startup or does it cchange on an auto update type feature.

if you have 2 weak boards and total  15763  you should pull 978 watts

[...]

I wonder if DHL's 6 hours of  cold  hurt it...

That's what my guess was on this, the room ambient is about 20C average these are running in my basement. On Normal mode it's within spec for (TH/S), but at low power it seems to compound the issue. I am hoping they have some troubleshooting info to pass along, as I browsed the tabs I didn't see anything I could really dig into, even the API log data is pretty foreign for now; especially when it's not as simple as 100/105 chips or something.

I've fired off an email to see what I hear back. In the one to Pangolin I was sure to mention the issues I had with the delivery just to have everything covered and documented with them. Either way tonight I'll switch between the 2, this should net me 3-4 extra TH/S.

31.7 -> 20 hopefully
15.7 -> 30.5
47.4 -> 50.5

I'd have to check, Pangolin handled all shipping details. I would be surprised if they didn't insure shipments considering everything they send is a high value package.

It was delivered by a 3rd party carrier as I'd be considered a rural community off the beaten delivery path. I specifically did not want them delivering this package if I wasn't going to be home (bad experience when they delivered my T9+). It was just annoying that they still processed the hand off to them. They said it was something to do with requests being submitted before it enter the country.

I'll see what Pangolin has to say on the matter. Either way it's still working, and it wouldn't hurt to get some troubleshooting guidelines from them to disseminate.

now you are the second guy in Canada with a shipping issue.
it seems  they have a language barrier/cultural issue with shipping.

I think Herb Pean   had a billing address and a shipping address
they shipped to the billing address in his case.

In your case  the hold did not get put in.
To be fair bitmain did it with the t-9 if I read you correctly.

For my shipping issue at least Pangolin is in the clear. It was entirely a DHL boondoggle. They are who I communicated with for the Hold. The explanation was that their system for international deliveries for my location has them hand the package off to the 3rd party carrier right out of customs; and any request such as a H.A.L for the DHL facility doesn't register on the system until after the package scans in Canada.

Beyond that it's the local shipper that without authorization both times left the package without signature. The first delivery is why I wanted it held at DHL in the first place, once I realized delivery would be scheduled when I wasn't home.

The communication with Pangolin was easy and flawless as I had to contact them about payment, their countdown timer is super quick. I'm interested to see what they are able to come back with to help my current situation. I'm headed out of town for in a few days for the mountains, so I don't know how many fixes I'll be able to try. Either way they will both be in low power mode while I'm gone, so either I get a fix in before or I can take a crack at it when I get back.

Herb's would have definitely been an annoyance and out of pocket expense; and from what I gathered falls on Pangolin. I'm not sure what was wrong when it was placed originally or how it happened, but something must not have looked right to reach out to them right away. If the error was on their end right from the start I would have expected a full refund of shipping costs, but you take what you can get. And know I can add a tally to my known Canadians lol.

DHL is horrible.  Mine came from China to NY in 2 days...  Then took 6 days to get to my house.  Due to being lost.. then found and shipped to amazon warehouse by accident.. then dropped off at my house and DHL was still even looking for it.  lmao.

Weird. DHL has always delivered my personal stuff without issues. Wonder if the tariffs are reducing imports and they've scaled back on labor?

So it is working as I type.

Just a 1 day delay  it arrived 40 minutes ago. We had a monster rainstorm  maybe that is why.

see below it did a side trip to Miami and  it really got stuck in NYC Grin

Did they contact you for duties was the hold up? 4 days isn't the worst, anything we have to prep for customs the paperwork is filed asap for smoother sailing.

If you're getting hit with duties on shipments under $800 I would pay them and file the correct paperwork later to recoup the funds.

So far I order 1 at a time  and things are good.

We now have six at the new solar array.

2x 34th m10
4x 31th m10

My one complaint is I don't know how to upgrade firmware on the 2x 34th models so they only have 1 speed

Awesome, m10 is probably the best upgrade $/th for units shipping now factoring de minimus. We've had decent success with throttling shipments out for clients without too much back end work. Also looks like the trade war might be looking to close up in a few months.

Nice to see your units arrived Phil.

It's weird I have reached out to Pangolin a few times, and so far nothing in the way of answers or troubleshooting.

Either way between the 2 units I am on spec. I really can't complain to much. The nice thing is while I was gone there were to power outages in my area, both times the units fired back up when the power was restored.

Agreed minefarmbuy, that's what my conclusion was when I ordered these.

Odd price increase by pangolin. Well done on those who ordered prior.

Even with coupon this is over de minimis, wonder if pango got greedy with the influx of added sales.

My guess for the price jump is that they weren't moving any of the 33 TH models.

I know i wasn't about to pay 125$ per TH, for the extra 2.

I'd say still a good deal, just not as good.

it is terrible for usa

799 1 item 0% tax

850 1 item 27.6% tax

I am glad I got mine when I did.

850 x 1.276 = 1084   vs 799

that is fucked up

The funny thing is that the 31th model for the $750 does 33th for me usually 24/7, sometimes falls into a 32.8th range but still.  Lol so... yea

They should have left the m10 31th at 799 and killed the coupon it would have kept USA buyer under 800 and no trump tax.

The 33th should be dropped to 949 with a 25 dollar coupon. Or 924.

USA buyers would get the 31th  model.

Now

the s15 is a tax job 27.6% for USA
The m10 is a tax job 27.6% for USA
The t15 is no tax  and may be the best deal. 0% since it is under 800.

Yea, sad to see the demand hit a cliff for these. T15 in LPM is the best purchase now imo. So I agree with philip, per usual.

Only bulk will bring the cost of these down substantially enough to make tariffs worth it.

Yeah it is tough for me.  I did the build out with a mix of gear.

530th   btc
   7mh  ltc

1  s15          top speed   57 watts a th
19 s9's  set these at mid speed90 watts a th
6  m10's set these at top speed 70 watts a th
1 t2turbo24 eco speed 82 watts a th
1 a921        -1 speed 95 watts a th
2 a721        -1 speed 140 watts a th     so this is 2000 watts
4 s7ln           reg speed 250 watts a th  this is 2800 watts

14 L3+   these are on a low watt program

so replacement of the bold gear will happen and 2 m10's would do the trick

some power  but th would go from 20th to 63th

No argument there, about $2.2k for two w/duties. $51/th for the added 43th for about the same draw.

799 1 item 0% tax
850 1 item 27.6% tax

For me it doesn't change much. Just the added price. I have to pay PST + GST on everything I receive so 13%, if I had a registered business it would only be GST at 5%. It also varies by province, Alberta for instance only has the GST. Usually only gets worse when  CAD takes a dip, makes me long for that shortlived time at Par.

The funny thing is that the 31th model for the $750 does 33th for me usually 24/7, sometimes falls into a 32.8th range but still.  Lol so... yea

Nice, I had some Avalon gear that showed up and was well over spec. I love winning the hardware lottery. After the last reset and increase to normal mode - I am getting 30.8 and 31.7 TH/s from my units.

I was kicking around the idea of ordering another 1 maybe 2, but haven't decided on pulling the trigger yet. The price increase hasn't helped the decision either.

T15 is best the best option under de minimis right now. At least on the m10 31T the tariff is "marginal" compared to other units. Looks like about 1.2k with duties/shipping is about right.

ja. As I said yesterday in Kano's Discord room, my take is that Pangolin took notice of the M10 31T's outselling the 33T's and correctly realized that for us in the US, the reason we loved the 31T was no Tariff (assuming you get/receive them 1  per-day or less often). The 33T is over de minimis and sales took a hit from it. Putting them both over de minimis removes that difference.

and they lose  sales to the USA

Since  they  are effectively now at :

31th    850 x 1.276 + 91= 1175   too much to  pay I paid   875 10 days ago  so it is a 34% jump in price
33th  1020 x 1.276 + 91 =  too much to  pay

daily hash rate jumped real hard last 2 days
42,000,000,000 gh to 48,000,000,000
so that  make the gear worth 5 to 10%  less then the 799 it was listed for  not   34%  more.

based on this new jump the 875 I paid including the shipping for the 31th unit should now be 800 to 830
not 1175

I feel a rant about shitting business decisions coming on. Mostly with MicroBT bobblenecking supply through poor vendors.

From what I've seen there's hardly a difference in the 33T and 31T models. Maybe an issue with poor product planning or a large batch of chips under spec?

Well  if they were to sell

the 31th model for 749 + 150 shipping and handling  they would get 899

if they were to sell

the 33th model for 799 + 175 shipping and handling they would get 974

no coupons and in both cases under the 800 number

I did ask about this a while back. They said it was just a variance between different batches of chips being produced.

It is weird the US tariffs play a big change for the manufacturers pricing. They have to balance out a price to still be viable in the American market, but not be giving it away to the rest of the world.

yeah the 27.6% tax is a brutal number to overcome

old 31th was 875 with no tax + coupon + shipping   roi is in 700 days with 4 cent power.  this is bad enough

new 31th  is   1111 with tax + coupon + shipping    roi is never  with same 4 cent power.

so at 200 days you would owe 416 on the lower price
and at 200 days in you would owe 652 on the higher price    that extra 222 cost is a killer for me.

Some one was talking about selling me one at 799 + 101 shipping = 900  but that may fall through.

So no purchase for now

have to have volume though, currently there are zero signs for a group on 31T. Only thing to work out is shipping to stay under deminis once we get to 200 units.

I know this is not the place for group buy, but I checked the group buy section and didn't find anything recent. However, sign me up for 1 or 2 31Ts.

I've been waiting to pull the plug on these for a month and reading of yours guys' positive experience tipped me over the edge... Until they raised their prices last week.

Interesting, just ordered my 3rd 31T and while on Pangolin's site there is now no mention of the 33T model - not even an out-of-stock notice. Think Pangolin has just settled on the 1 model for now? They raised the 31T specs to now be 31-33THs which is fully in line with what I see from the 2 that I have.

Might do one, but essentially we'd just ask people to use our website.

Yea, what I was saying a few posts back, no reason to have multiple models so close in spec.

I was contacted about getting a m10 31th  for 850-51 = 799  under the de minus(sp)

I was able to order one for 850 -51 = 799  + shipping

It is yet to ship and it is yet to be determined if I am going to avoid the trump tax legally if it was written up correctly I would avoid it.

I am simply not sure that pangolin has correctly  written the invoice to pass usa customs.

I should know if it was done correctly by Monday the 18th of feb

worse comes to worse I am out the trump tax of 27.6%

best case  I legally avoid it.

I am waiting for shipping number from pangolinminer.com

if this works  you order from your account and use the 51 dollar coupon  to go to 799

this would be for 1 at a time  for each order spaced at least 1 week apart and is for usa buyers.

I am willing to give this a try  because  I order directly from pangolin  using the same account I have always used.

I am willing to be the test subject for USA buyers.

please wait just a while for updates.

I am not giving out the forum members name at the moment that approached me on this
Since I do not know this will work yet.

Thanks for the update Phil

What $51 coupon is this?

Apparently dj here is associated with pango. I'd DM them.

Still invoicing has to be correct to be under de minimis. Would be much easier for consumers if pango just dropped the pricing back to 799USD.

this would be for 1 at a time  for each order spaced at least 1 week apart and is for usa buyers.

De minimis is one import under $800 per day. Any other imports on the same day would put you over this limit and duties would be due for all imports.

We'll be happy to apply dj's code for buyers but cannot guarantee invoicing is correct for de minimis status.

Waiting with bated breath here as well. Despite being over de minimis I finally broke down 2 days ago and have another 31T ordered that should ship tomorrow.

I take it DHL will want a check upon delivery to pay the tariff?

Nice, if your contact details are included on your shipping label they will typically notify for customs/delivery to a consumer without this process when signature is already required. Still a good practice.

Yeah  so far dhl has not told me I owe more for trump tax. So I would guess  it is okay to get a coupon and use it.  Still not perfectly sure.

I was able to use my account with pangolinminer  so it is nice in that you should not be at any extra risk  then an order  without the coupon.

As you use your own account.

edit :

update my gear is on the truck and no one has asked for tax.

so sending a pm to dj_wldwst

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1163591

mention this thread  and ask for coupon details  seems to be okay.

I was able to use my pangolinminer account to place order.

Same account I used for the other orders.

I space my orders by a week or at least until I get one.

Ie: I ordered Fri. I get it Monday  next order of 1 would be on tuesday.

I initially ran into that as well with my 2nd one but like yours, after a good warmup all 3 boards came to life and have been doing just fine for over 5 days now.

The autotune does set different speeds as needed for the boards and interestingly, the board that initially did not show up runs at a lower speed than the other 2 boards do: Hmm, just looked and checking the 2, my 1st one all three boards are centered around 500MHz +/- 4, number-2 oth are all over the map! 499, 468 and 562MHz... Definitely some variation in chips there... Wink Still, considering it holds a steady 31.6THs - werks fer me! Cheesy

That's what I had noticed when my first 2 arrived. I'm not near them at the moment but over the last 3 weeks (Since my back to back power outage days) the underperformer has risen to 30.9 TH/S. Well within the specs when I ordered. That unit is very similar to your NotFuzzyWarm, Something like a 90 spread between the lowest and highest. The unit pulling 31.7 TH/S has a spread of 50-60 IIRC. I'll double check tomorrow.

I'm not about to open mine up but it would be interesting to see if there is a noticeable difference between the boards. I say this because when I was talking to them about the 2 models previously being offered they said it was due to chip batches. So I wondered if maybe they were mixing and matching boards to level out the performance stats, instead of having lame duck batch. Something like 2 great boards and an underperformer.

Well waddayaknow -- my 3rd M10 31T that I ordered last week just came in and despite being over $800 de minimis no bill from DHL re tariff due! Got a feeling one will show up later...

Yeah didn't that happen to a bunch of people last year when the tarrifs were rolling out, good old bills in the mail. I know DHL hits me with anything incoming before it arrives, I get an email but that's for the provincial and federal sales taxes.

Aaaaand it seems my #3 M10-31 that came in today needed a few restarts before it came fully alive. Despite a nice warmup for an hour in front of the exhaust from its 2 other brothers, on the new miner board SM2 would not go above 368MHz whereas the other 2 boards hit around 500. Letting it run at least 10 min each time to see how it came up, after1 hard boot and 3 'restart CGminer's' all three boards came up and now report 469, 510 and 526Mhz for 31.7 THs.

Seems that once you get the reported chip temps above 45-50C things will kick in properly. Hmm, like the ol' Spondoolies maybe a pre-heat with a heat gun/hair dryer would do the trick Wink

I wonder if this variance was their need to sell a different model to begin with with the 31T version.

I have 2 33th models
I have 5 31th models

Everyone does more then  the number it is rated to do. Except this one it is a fraction low.

I just received my 31T unit today which I ordered last Friday, so very quick shipment. I live in Canada.

FYI, my total customs+duties on the unit (with the USD51 discount code) came up to CAD68. So all in all, very positive experience so far. I'll post an update once the unit has run for a few hours on wintery Canadian sunshine electricity.

Thanks to everyone here for tips and advice!

This unit seems to have an issue with one board.

It simply does not fire up. It did work for three days and I switch pools.

Now it does not want to fire up.

I am going to contact pangolin to see about support.

That sucks. I'm interested to see how they respond, seeing as your issue is actually something failing, I imagine it will be rather quick. I never did hear back when I was trying to troubleshoot the lame board, but it may have been low to no priority as it was in spec.

Reading through Pangolin's support info, you may get away with only having to ship back the hashboard, but they might not have updated the information lately. Definitely better than sending the whole unit in for repair.

FYI, my total customs+duties on the unit (with the USD51 discount code) came up to CAD68. So all in all, very positive experience so far. I'll post an update once the unit has run for a few hours on wintery Canadian sunshine electricity.

Nice one of those low tax provinces, I get hit pretty hard on everything I bring in. Enjoy, so far my 2 have been pumping the heat nicely to fight the ridiculous cold.

I found they have spare parts for the m10.

the psu https://pangolinminer.com/product/power-supply-unit-for-m10d1/

the fans https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-fan-set-m10/

the control board https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-control-board-shipout-before-3-31/

since we have 7 of these I will be needing to order 1 of each of the above.

I also want to mention weather is good here in NJ we have had a pretty warm winter. Grin

ps I will post back on  the repair service.

If you look at the quote here you can guess it is board SM1 the fastest one that died.

this one is a bit funky

Sorry to hear philip, not a lot of reports on whatsminers failing. I suppose the only caveat would be it's with someone who will keep us updated.

Pricing on the fan seems pretty high unless shipping is cheap. The I/O board as well. I'd look at other fan myself but I hate having to figure out cable length.

I'm sure you can handle everything but if you want some help philip let me know.

it is 2 fans not one so it is not that crazy high price.  but not cheap either.

I am waiting on info on the hash board replacement.

When you open it up to pull the hash board, please take pics of how the PSU is connected to them. Curious to know if they use bus bars from the PSU and BM-style clips on the boards or something better like actual screw-down connections to the boards.

Nice one of those low tax provinces, I get hit pretty hard on everything I bring in. Enjoy, so far my 2 have been pumping the heat nicely to fight the ridiculous cold.

Yeah, it’s been ludicrous cold here in Alberta this past month too. Each miner is displacing about 3.5GJ of natural gas per month while keeping the house and garage warm. Still a bit of a work in progress to keep them quiet, but I’m getting there Wink

So far, after one day, my 31T averaged 31.5TH. Looks like I got a decent one.

I just turned it off for 30 minutes.

I will power it up now  to see it that dead board fires up.

Phil did the hard reset help?

No  on second screen shot you can see it has done 1331 attempts to fire the dead board up.

So it is most likely a board issue. It also has the issue on low power.

here are the  good six at clifton  as you can see one is a bit under  at 24th the rest are good

Phil did they  contact you about the bad board?

No , But to be fair I asked them at 4pm USA Friday  which I about 4 AM China Saturday>

There is good here to be learned.

1) I am going to buy a set of parts using minefarmbuy.
2) If you want a quiet miner running 2 boards on low power will be really quiet.
3) We will get to learn how well they respond to busted gear.

edit @ HagssFin:

Here are the details:

a. Please contact us to help troubleshooting the issue with Online consultation.

d. If customer disassembly/replaces any parts especially hashboards without permission from PangolinMiner, for technical reasons the miner/PSU would not be repaired.
e. Please only ship the defective part (Whatsminer/PSU/hash board/control board) to our repair center, do not include the accessory.

2.      Shipping.
a. Pack the parts carefully better with foam to avoid shipment damage, the warranty will not cover the faulty part caused by shipping.
b. Please print two copies of the Repair Ticket, stick one outside the package, and put one inside. The package will be rejected if there are not two copies of Repair Ticket.
c. Please be noticed all the custom clearance fee would be billed to clients and inform your transport company to deal with the custom issue with you first to avoid the delay. PangolinMiner will not be respond to any custom issue. (Better declare the low value “within 50$” as the “Warranty Item”).
d. Please make sure that the delivery made on work days only, and “MiniServer” (or your “Power supply”) described on the waybill item description.
e. We will not accept any form of "Freight Collect", and the packages will be sent back to the sender. Per our clause of warranty, you need to take over all the expense of shipment.
f. Please DON’T ship any product of the company that PangolinMiner is not responsible to. Packages containing other products will be returned to the sender or discarded.
g. The warranty will not cover the products have been repaired by other association or people.

d. We will firstly make Online consultation with your problem. Then send you a Repair ticket form to fill up if your problem need warranty.e. Print two copies of Repair ticket as mentioned above, stick one outside your package and put one inside.f. Add new message with the tracking number at the ticket you submit the request.

4.      Instructions for out of warranty repair

I am waiting for the answer to the bold.

If you look at 1)
Board sm1 is dead
They do not sell a board

I did not open the unit since they have not replied to No.3 in bold.

I just ordered

the board
Pair of fans
psu

from you (minefarmbuy) for spare parts

order # 10001352

I have enough gear  that having these parts is worthwhile.

If they could pack the replacement hashboard in with that order they would save money. ( one can hope Grin )

Hmm, and now we see that Pangolin is only selling the 33T version on their site, same $850 as the 31T was....
Wonder if this is why Pangolin has not not yet confirmed the order for a 31T that I placed last Monday. Zero emails from them about it and since last Tues the order status is 'Processing'.

So much for '2 days' eh?

well that sucks a whole week and no shipping.

I stayed up till late last night 1:20 am
I have an instructional video on remounting the 3 way data bridge to the 3 boards.  The tech thinks it could be loose from shipping.
I just woke up got to have my  8 hours sleep  so I will  get to the repair in an hour.
I will post photos of it.  Hoping it works out.

Yeah no news and it arriving is way better than no news and it staying in Limbo.

Looking forward to the video Phil. Did they think it was that part due to it being kinda a weak board then dropping off completely?

well that is cool.

I just did the newest firmware up grade.

upgrade-whatsminer-h6-20190220.15.bin

gear booted waiting for a result.

if issues still abound I will need to open machine up.

edit at steam

the controller connects to a bridge  which   connects to all 3 boards
__ __ __ __
    l    l    l

so if the bridge is tilted and not plugged into all 3 boards flush  you could have this issue.

new firmware screen shot

@ yankees maybe

This screen shot shows  3 boards working

I took about 30 photos of the reseating of the board will post later if this stays working.

Note the screen shot mentions  a communication error with all three boards.

I think when this  was assembled at the factory  the bridge was correctly mounted  to the 2 boards  but once done the two screws that keep it in place were over tightened.  Thus causing an issue with the bridge board working correctly.

That makes sense it is why  it would work sometimes and not others.

So if you need a new part  it may just be the bridge  not the hashboards.

@ yankees yes I think that is the issue.

It was hard to remove one of the screws that hold the bridge in place.
I needed a dewalt impact drill/driver with a small philips screw head to remove the screw. No way it needs to be that tight.

https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCD791D2-Li-Ion-Brushless-Compact/dp/B0183RLVSQ/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?

no way does a pcb board need to be removed with the tool above.

Unless it was put in too tight.

looks good 32th

here are links photos of taking the unit apart.

fan power/control

https://i.imgur.com/9evPmWs.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/uhVrafK.jpg

once you do that remove fan

https://i.imgur.com/dm1CYYX.jpg

then unscrew housing that holds controller 4 screws two on each side

https://i.imgur.com/N3VfUm5.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/I8xVfp0.jpg

lift housing gentle as it has wires

https://i.imgur.com/fYKnW7e.jpg

the bridge has the overtightened screw marked
note cables one near the screw goes from controller to bridge to 3 hash board
one goes from controller to psu

To mods I double posted to make it more clear.

controller still attached to bridge and psu

detached controller from psu

view behind fan looking up to dashboard connection to the controller

this is the money shot
the bottom side of the over tightened screw on the bridge
my middle board just did not work and board to left on end was iffy .

I think the tight screw was grounding pcb board and dropping one or 2 hash boards off

You can see the mm or two difference there in torque. So everything is hash well again?

Yeah  a nice photo of the problem. Got lucky with it. I took the photo before I removed the tight screw.  Did not even see the difference when I took the shot.
Did feel the difference as I could not unscrew it til I used the dewalt impact driver.

and yes it works fine   still a bit under 31 at 30.2 or 30.3

here it is below:

the beauty of digital cameras take 40 to 50 photos

pick the ones you want.

Back in the day those 37 photos would have cost 20 dollars to develop plus 10 dollars for the film purchase.

Then a few hours on a scanner to upload to the primitive pre digital camera internet. Grin

Better yet minefarmbuy found the difference in screw depth visually.
I truly posted that not realizing it was easy to see it.

I only knew it was too tight due to me having to use the drill/impact DeWalt to unscrew it. Grin

And nice to see that they are using bus bars from PSU to the hash boards vs the clips that BM uses. Should be far more reliable Cheesy

Well you did circle it but still visible even as focus is on the center of the picture. Looks like just under your screwdriver a heat sink is bent in the same pic? Maybe it's just the angle.

heat sink is good

last three shots

now that the board is not smashed tight to the plate we are good to go

this may mean I need a pcb bridge board since it could have a tiny crack in it.

edit talked on telegram will get a free  pcb  bridge with other parts ordered

Phil have you tested to determine the pcb board is at fault and not a combination of hash board and pcb board?

Yeah no news and it arriving is way better than no news and it staying in Limbo.

Looking forward to the video Phil. Did they think it was that part due to it being kinda a weak board then dropping off completely?

I decided to try to tease out an answer to this question by moving  hashboards.

slot one  would sometimes be bad
slot two  would be bad almost all the time.
slot three works great.

I moved  the board in slot 2 to slot 3  this board was the higher speed board  if the  slot2 has the problem  the high speed board  should work every time in slot 3

and the board in slot 2 should  not work at all.

This is exactly what happens.
I am also pretty sure the putting a piece of insulation on the square below should prevent the pcb from ground out.

So  have a piece of electrical tape on that square.  While I wait for the new pcb board from pangolinminer.com

Hmm, I might try that with the #4 M10-31 I got on Monday.
In full speed mode all boards fire up fine and the miner is doing 31.3TH. However, low-power mode is another story: SM2 (board 3) is fine but SM0 and SM1 do not like to startup at all and after a few reboots to get them started for warmup SM0 gets barely above 200MHz. Once the miner finishes testing and does its final startup reboot only board 3 remains alive and the other 2 do not restart. The 3 M10's I have at home run perfect in either normal or low-power modes.

Naturally this miner is the first one I wanted to use in my main farm to replace the few s9's I'm still running. Figured that the M10 doing 19-20TH @1,250w was going to be a perfect drop-in replacement for these old s9's (that are batch 5 & 11 so the BM LPM firmware does not work).

On the tape fix, careful! It is very easy for high spots on the board to push their way through it. A better choice would be a fiber washer like you get when you purchase MoBo's for building a PC. I know I've accumulated a gazillion of them over the years.

yeah when the new pcb comes  I will use a nylon washer.

it will lift the board at the screw in point.

edit i went back to normal power looks nice so far:

got board went to telegram and found some others with same problem.

So I linked this thread and I decided to further test my theory since these people had issue on slot  sm2

I found some nylon washers placed them onto the metal mount holes.

attached them with some electrical tape.

so both sides of the pcb do not touch mount plate.

and gear now starts up fully in well under 3 minutes

so the base of the pcb board is fully isolated from the mount plate other then by the screw.

the pcb board looks to be designed to grounded to the mount plates only at the screw holes and no where else.

with the nylon washers in place the pcb board is about 1/16 or 1.5mm  off the mount plates.

follow up it still works poorly I do suspect the board is cracked and the temp fix is just that temporary.

I have tracking for a replacement part.

hoping it fixes issue

Okay I received this part today

https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-adapter-board-m10-m10s-d1/

along with these parts

https://pangolinminer.com/product/power-supply-unit-for-m10d1/
https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-control-board-m10-m10s-d1/
https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-fan-set-m10/

the 1 board m10 is running like shit up in clifton

it did do 10th for a bit but is now closer to 1.5th

Edit fixed it with the three slot bridge

Well that was the quickest decision I've ever made pretty sure this is a recent price drop by Pangolin. Just ordered my 3rd M10 31TH. This was a no brainer as described below, considering teh risk for me is to high on the 15 series from Bitmain. This bad boy won't be making it into the house though, straight to the garage, I'll have to take my 841 offline.

Right now on Pangolin they are listed for 785 USD, I was able to use the 51$ coupon as well so that brought it down to 734 USD, plus shipping.

Long time no post. I've been quietly mining for the last several years on a pair of S9s and an L3+, powered by a pair of IBM 2880 PSUs.

Things are changing at our data center and we need some space. I figured I might as well upgrade at the same time. So I ordered an M10 and will be retiring the ancient miners.

I'm planning on running the M10 on 208 volts. I verified with the manufacturer that it's supposed to handle 200 - 240, so it should be fine.

Based on the original post, it looks like the PSU takes a C13 connector. I want to connect this to a C19 socket on our PDU. So I'm thinking about getting a 15 amp rated C13 to C20 cable.

That should be hefty enough right?

Shouldn't be too much in cost from 14 to 12 gauge anyway unless someone is soaking you for it.

nice     yeah at  734  it is a good deal.  they handled my 1 wire to 3 slot rma nicely

and I got a good look inside the gear these are better made hash boards with better heat sinks then the s9's ever were.

truly better made items.

Yeah it was weird I really just stumbled upon the price drop updating the competitive hardware thread, then thought I might as well try the coupon code. Best thing about it is they just sent me my tracking info.

I was happy with how they handled the RMA for you Phil. Any company that works with you to troubleshoot and is willing to send out parts if you are comfortable making the repair is Grade A in my books

I ordered on Sunday and had the miner in hand by noon on Wednesday. I installed it Wednesday afternoon. It all went well and the miner has been running with stable temps and a hash rate of 31.2 TH/s.

Very impressed with both pangolinminer.com and the M10!

Looks like they've cleared out their stock of the M10, because it's not visible on their shop any more. Now they're offering the M20, which is 48 or 58 Th/s, shipping by May 15.

One thing I noticed about the M10 is it runs really hot. I expected that because all those watts have to go somewhere. But it pumps out hot air like crazy, and the metal sides towards the exhaust end are very hot to the touch. Too bad I didn't have my Raytek with me to take a measurement.

Originally I was thinking about 3d printing a 120mm to 4 inch hose adaptor so that I can direct the heat out of the rack more effectively. But now I'm worried that the amount of heat might warp the PLA plastic. I guess I could try PETG, which can handle higher temps.

One question: how do you change the default password on the M10?

I tried to download the manual from microbt.com, but it seems to be corrupted or it can't be downloaded correctly and won't open. The manuals on pangolinminer.com are for an older model.

You can do it at the Administration page.

Thanks. I did look there first.

I feel like an idiot, but I can't find a link or button on any page that leads to the admin page. I've tried two different browsers (Safari and Firefox).

Note that your instructions say that the login credentials are root/root. When I got my M10, it defaults to a user name of admin. I ended up guessing that the password was also admin. That was the only way that I could get in.

When I try entering root/root, it gives me an "Invalid username and/or password" error. I can only log in via admin/admin.

If there are separate root and admin users, then perhaps the fact that I can only login as admin means that I have reduced privileges. That might explain why I can't see the admin page. This assumes that the web GUI is different for different privileges, which is just a guess on my part.

Anyway, this machine is behind a firewall in a locked rack in a secure data center with no WiFi access. While I prefer to change the default password, it's unlikely to be a real security issue. So maybe I shouldn't stress over the password.

Thanks. I did look there first.

I feel like an idiot, but I can't find a link or button on any page that leads to the admin page. I've tried two different browsers (Safari and Firefox).

I am getting an m10 on Monday. I will look for the page for you.

m10's have different firmware yours may not work.

Just thought I'd say I looked for an admin page and couldn't find it either. My firmware version on all 3 is 20181127.17.1
Up until now, I hadn't bothered trying to change the password. My login details were also Admin/Admin by default, never even noticed I always just assume password is username.

Side note my 3rd showed up yesterday and is now set up. So far it looks to be 31.7 TH, and by far my tightest cluster on frequency, 499 - 507 - 498 .
That may be due to the cooler garage environment.

Thanks for looking. I've got the same firmware version. Nice to know that I'm not crazy.

Sorry.
There might be differences between different firmware versions and I have not collected data to take that into account in my guide.

Just got Number 8 today it uses admin/admin to log in.

and no access to the admin page to change password.

Seems to be working well in fact runs a bit cooler then any of my other machines.

I will be adding this to the Clifton,NJ setup. Along with 1 s9 and 1 l3+

This will bring us to 586th for btc and 8.2gh for ltc

My first arrived today. Running quiet (was worried by how heinously loud it was at start up) so far and mining at 31.1 TH/s. admin/admin for login. No page to change these details, nor can I find any method by which I would update FW. Does anyone know how? I tried downloading the manual but its in chinese...

Edit: also, my FW version is 20190301.16.1

Does anyone know where I can find the latest firmware for my M10? A link to some guide on how to do the upgrade would also be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Unless there is a problem it is best to NEVER fiddle with it. If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it. That said, AFAIK you have to go directly through MicroBT support to get updates.

That's always good advice! It is working well but I was hoping to see if a newer version provides better fan control, but I won't tempt my luck!
