I always said, when I learn that Satoshi Nakamoto is Satoshi Nakamoto, I'd no longer have a good reason to own bitcoins anymore. Right? I mean, if we know who created bitcoin, what reason is there to own them? It just doesn't make sense anymore.
The price just went up $150 after a cloud shaped like a Bitcoin was seen over New Hampshire.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

I'd like to see an ECDSA signed message saying "Bitcoin, I am your father!".

I think she's just incredibly naive. She has done some good stuff in the past, bringing attention to a paedophile ring in the UK (from which she was banned for her trouble). She talked about this on the Keiser Report, too. I had a lot of time for her, for doing that. I suspect she has no idea the can of worms she has opened with this about Nakamoto.

Journalism in 2014, epic fail. Imagine if that guy is NOT satoshi, the real satoshi probably is like "cool, now everyone believe he is satoshi, no one will look for me anymore, yay!"

The story seems legit. Seems like an interesting guy. What I really want to know though is what his Bitcointalk user name is though. Then again, I guess he should still have some privacy. He needs to cash out some coins and find someplace to move to that is more remote if he wants to keep his privacy.

Which is why I'm selling all my bitcoins. Afterall, how can we trust a cryptocoin when the anonymous creator who created it under his actual name is known?

Bitcoin drops 40 dollars at the news of finding the long lost father of Bitcoin. Eh, I think this may be good for bitcoin - if it's just some hobbyist and not some shadowy cabal that created bitcoin it makes bitcoin look less sketchy in the long run. I don't think this guy is in any trouble (other then a shit-ton of unwanted attention). If it is him, he just created the software. The government isn't going to after him, they have nothing to gain.

I mean, if we know who created bitcoin, what reason is there to own them? It just doesn't make sense anymore. In case this isn't sarcasm. Satoshi's entire point was to move away from the project and allow it to grow of it's own accord. Satoshi made himself irrelevant to the well being of Bitcoin. Therefore, whilst this news is interesting, it's certainly not a cause for concern.

Does probability theory have anything to say about the likelihood that that this story is true? For example, assume that the article is not a hoax, and that the hard facts presented within are true. Now, either the creator(s) of BTC chose a random pseudonym for which a real world candidate not only exists, but matches so many other criteria: Given: Actually has the name Satoshi Nakamoto (1/millions) Necessary to create BTC: AND speaks decent English (1/15 people) AND is in the right age cohort (~1/5) AND has the required intelligence to create bitcoin (1/50 AT LEAST) AND has the required education (a further 1/30? etc) AND right motive/ ideology AND window of time, combined with lack of counter-evidence. OR This guy is the creator of BTC. Something like that. My question is this: can the article be analyzed in a quantifiable, probabilistic way, assuming the facts are true? As for why he'd use his real name as a forum ID, well, at the earliest stages, could the inventor think it with both be so huge AND that his identity would need to be fully hidden? Human error/ laps in judgement are huge. Source: RossUlbricht@gmail.comBut is there something concrete that can be educed form the structure of the knowledge/ facts in the article (assuming the FACTS in the article are true)
