Does this firmware support S9 Hydro?

Quote from: Jake C
I'm in the beginning stages of testing for my client using S19Pro 110's and we've had to bring in his electrician to double check that we're reading everything correctly.  On 277V, stock firmware reads 111Th @~3100W.  With Braiins tuned at 3250, we're getting 107Th @~2450W.  Currently doing a trial run on 4 machines and have bumped the power limit to 3600.  The client does have excellent ventilation though, which can have a big effect on results.  Long story short, it is absolutely worth the Dev Fee to at least try it out on your machine.  Make sure to measure at the wall though.  As good as the firmware is, the power consumption  is about useless.  They'll get it fixed at some point though.

So, 27.9 J/TH using factory firmware, vs 22.8 J/TH using Braiins OS+. Is it already reaching the "XP" (next gen) published miner efficiency like it did with the x17?

As for the (estimated) power consumption, like the release notes mentioned, it is still a work in progress. The current version is 2022-03-21 and some improvements have been made, including support for the A series.

Any plans on supporting things like the GekkoScience Compac F?

Also, is the github project (https://github.com/braiins/braiins/tree/bos-devel/open/bosminer) up to date with the latest development?, seems like it hasn't been updated for 2 years.

You can of course modify the open source bosminer and adapt it to use it the same way they did for cgminer.

Consider the S9 supported there as your base template.

Braiins also develops a closed source version which is used in Braiins OS+, the main difference is the autotuning algorithm and some features such as pre-heating, no hashing when connection is lost, etc.

We don't have any information as to what or when would the open source version get updated. I think if people starts modding it, those changes might actually make it back upstream. Isn't this the spirit of the open source community?

Feel free to add the support of the chips you want, if you distribute it publicly you are required to share back the code changes like other open source projects.

If you are a company or asic manufacturer and have some other business proposals, maybe involving the closed source version, feel free to contact Braiins directly using the form at the bottom of this page:

I have never seen it PhilipMa ...

Though it would not be past 'Slush and the Boys' to create something like it. Couldn't be difficult.

Currently though - I would remain skeptical about it unless Braiins actually publish on their WebSite or Other 'Official' Places they have.

Is it possible for Braiins to ignore a broken temperature sensor and carry on mining?
I have tried to set the fan to a fixed speed, but it didn't work.

I get a lot of I2C errors: i2c: Hashchip I2C read transaction error! Retrying...
Are they from the temp sensor?

Its just errors in communication, can be anything from bad cables, bad psu, etc.
Bad temp sensor either don't show or show crazy values like 200°C...

Yes sensors can be ignored but i doubt that's your issue.

Any tips or tricks for an S17 Pro that doesn't want to run off an SD?  It has the 2020 firmware, so it looks like the consensus is that I have to run via SD.  Originally thought it was the SD type, had tried a 16gb SDHC.  Just got 8gb SDHC and those aren't working either.  The machine isn't getting an IP and the red and green lights are solid, no matter how long I leave it plugged in.  Having a hard time finding non-HC SD cards, but hoping these 8gb cards will be ok.  Tried Braiins as well as a few others just to see if it was my methods but no difference there.

Edit add:  using linux to flash the SD.  If I can dig up a win machine I'll try etcher.

Clean the sd slot, its easy for them to get dirty and block contact.

Try using a different software for flashing, ie Balena Etcher vs Rufus or dd (non windows OSes, eg: dd if=blah.img of=/dev/whatever bs=4M && sync). When the flash finishes, wait 1 minute before taking the card out of the PC. Two solid leds means its not reading it (either sd or nand).

If you installed Braiins OS+ to the nand, you must edit the file uEnv.txt (in the first fat32 partition) while the sd card is still in the pc so this line exists:
sd_boot=yes

"We have had Braiins OS+ running on the Whatsminer M20S for a while now."

https://braiins.com/blog/bitcoin-mining-control-board-variations

My M20s had firmware 20200306.14.1 installed on h3 control board when I got it. I hope I'm able to install OS+ on my M20s when it comes out soon

I have a problem with my S9 miners on BraiinsOS+.
I had about 100 S9 running about a year ago. about 80 were running on BraiinsOS+ because I like the interface, the options and the knowledgebase.
I use them with Autotune and I had good hashrates with most of them. (branded 13,5TH - most reached 15-15,5)

Now less than half of my S9 are still alive. Most of them lost all their hashboards ("no asics found" etc.).
Maybe I`ve done something wrong? Should I not use the autotune-feature when they are supposed to run longer than a year?
Had the feeling my S9K (no BraiinsOS available) have a much longer lifespan (to be fair - they were brand new while all S9 were used ones).

Another problem I was facing: My Bonus on slushpool was way (!) too little. I guess it has something to do with me splitting the hashrate to separate slushpool-accounts, but the support wasn't able to find the reason. It makes not much of a difference - but it is still little annoying.

Thanks for your ideas.
