End of 2017 to January 2018 was the crypto huge moment and it was the time government and other non-investor took notice of crypto. Many people now noticed the value and potential they will have if they invest smartly in cryptocurrencies.

Yes you are right 2017 was an extra ordinary year for growth of crypto market although even then fears were there but still we saw record breaking growth, while this year uptill now has been bearish and sideways and no real signs of bull run as of yet.

It is not the end of crypto yet so we cannot say 2017 was the best year as very much is yet to be witnessed in the cryptocurrency market and the kind of growth we saw in the price was exponential in 2017 no doubt but we have seen bitcoin going parabolic in previous years too.
But yeah to conclude overall it was a great year for crypto in terms of price action but in terms of talks about bitcoin and interests of the institutions in crypto has increased from 2017 in 2018.

I agree , it was a best year of crypto till now . But who knows what the next year will be ? Maybe McAfee’s predictions will come true and soon we will see Bitcoin price of half a million dollars... Who will then remember 2017 year ?

We can say that all past years have been good for cryptos, except this one, always cryptos were in ascent and if everything goes on like this, most likely it will be the first time that bitcoin closes the year with a lower price than the one that started it, I really do not care much about that, since my goal now is mass adoption, so a stabilization can greatly benefit that long-term goal.

One year is the best to sell, while it is better to buy in others. If I am not sure what to do, I hold. Unfortunately, sometimes altcoins become very cheap.

Sure 2017 was the best year because of the bull run I guess,if that's how everyone is viewing it well my own kind of view is different ,if bull run occurs again in 2018 we will all say its the best year ,as far as bitcoin is more stable in price than last year I bet the next bull run will be huge

It was good year for crypto, yes. But I should say not the best. If we talk about Bitcoin - the price movement wasn't the highest in its history(only x20 in a year) but mass adoption was on high level.
The main success was for tokens in 2017. Any startup with any idea(even without specific vision and roadmap) could collect great amounts. I think this was the best year specifically for them, and there will be no more years like this.
But with Bitcoin there is another situation. I think it will show greater results soon, so 2017 will seem preparation only

You are all repeating like parrots after OP that it was the best year instead of taking a chart and adding the numbers. Do it and you'll see that this huge spike that took us from 5 to 20 thousand USD was nothing compared to the early years of Bitcoin. 400% or 500% gains are small for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
In 2011 you could make 2000% gains. Think about that. You could turn every dollar into 20 in 1 year! 1 million into 20 million. And people will come and say that a 10% spike is a manipulation.

 They say 2020 will also be a great year for cryptocurrency. I hope we get there. Many talk about the terrible fall by the end of the year due to fraudsters.
