maybe we should change the ticker to HEMP. every time i see THC in the news they get the ticker wrong.

it is listed on comkort (voting list) as 420. i created a ticket about that months ago (and refreshed it a week or so ago) but there it is
-edit- i got that wrong they had it: THC Cannabiscoin ... oh well

we were in the news today - is this as huge as i think?

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-enthusiasts-invited-join-decentralized-anonymous-state/

and it points to this

http://www.otcmarkets.com/edgar/GetFilingHtml?FilingID=10396341

I remember seeing that hempcoin awhile ago. Someone made a new cryptocoin and called it hempcoin on 07-27-14 02:11:18 but never announced a release.

The person who started it has secretly mined 99% of all coins.
http://hmp.cryptocoinexplorer.com/rich

It looks like a scam... but who knows.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I agree with change of ticker to HEMP. Only person who was opposed to that was Tim, but he's not active anymore, so it doesn't matter.

Hobonickels is a very stable wallet, the dev (Tranz) is also very knowledgeable and postivie.  always willing to help.

no clue why I didn't think of this coin before, it is one of the 4 coins I follow these days.

PS:  hard drive on the server is not completely toast, mobo recognizes it, but it wont boot.  might be a bad superblock, but I keep getting I/O errors when trying to mount it using backup superblocks.  I am nearing an area beyond my skill-set, but I haven't thrown in the towel yet.  Going to plug it into my Windows PC and see if Gparted can grab some stuff off it.  Anyone  know of any other good hard drive/partition repair tools ?

HoboNickles worked well for me when I used it over a year ago.

I have never had to recover a hard drive.

I was working on this:

It allows for the wallet to be folded with the private key inside.

If you're interested you can have access to the github.

I also had an idea for the paperwallet creator to produce code like "sendtoaddress <hempcoinaddress> <amount>" with <hempcoinaddress> and <amount> pre filled out with the proper values. This way you could print out 100 wallets then copy n paste the code to send coins to all the wallets.

It would be cool if there was a button that let you select between background styles. There should be at least two styles. One thats pretty and one thats low on ink usage. The ink and paper usage is a thing for me. I want to minimize the ink and paper I use. For me, smaller is better. For others big and pretty will be what they want.

great idea and message sent.

rest assured this will not delay the recovery of the hempfield pool.  I have always wanted to have more than one pool for Hempcoin.  If anything this has encouraged me to get moving on it.

Hoping to have some time this weekend to get cracking on it.

It's hard to maintain these cryptocoin wallet and server things when its not a full time job. As you can see with hemp.cash and hempchain.info, both of them break sometimes and need to be fixed too.

I hope you can get warranty on replacing your SSD after you recover the files on it.

Yeah its true! hemp.cash hot wallet breaks lots because the wallet.dat file gets too big... I think that is why it breaks

@bocyaj, Do you know how to reduce the wallet.dat files size. Like remove all the transactions stored in it? Or like do something magical to it?

When hemp.cash went viral in Indonesia, the wallet became 25MB in 18 hours and crashed hempcoind. hempcoind could not start again with that wallet.dat file.

even if wallet.dat is many terabytes, that shouldn't really crash the wallet should it? Once the information is downloaded to the server, it is available to use. I don't know why that would make it crash, do you?

i recently moved to a fresh wallet (some other coin) because the .dat was ~30 mB, and had thousands of txs. couldn't send more than a few k, slow ...

i'd used coin control to consolidate the many small blocks into a few large ones, but when all done it was still 30+mB, and no better than before, except i could send large amounts again. moved it to a new wallet =d all better

Aye. I remember from last time we spoke about it you had concerns about ink usage.

I plan to do a smaller, less ink-consuming version but figured I'd make a polished nice one before abstracting so we had a consistent look across them.
I'll put some nice info on the smaller version, where it folds, about how to redeem and such. The current style is nice but has too many leaves on it since we've moved away from that sort of branding. I think having the plants in the background isn't too bad but leaves are so iconic.

Any input on the one I posted? I'm not done it, but have kind of hit a wall.

Also those are great ideas.

THC reached 57 satoshi today.

I have put together The 420 Alliance Joint Force ICO to be released on April 15th:

It's a way to support THC and get THC for your investment.

420 store = BTC -> Crypto X -> Goods -> Sell goods at a markup -> THC (or other weed niche coins)

is should be obviously better then

bittrex = BTC -> THC

It's been a while since we've this high but I know we can go further. HEMP (forget THC, Tim seemed to be the only one resistant to the ticker change) still needs someone spearheading the project. I've reached out to Tim about opening up the project, much like the website

Glad to see you're still here Lemons, I wasn't accusing you of anything but you did see to be quite absent. My apologies if you misread it in anyway that was not my intention.

@fartbags: Instead of launching a new CC ("Crypto-X"), what about relaunching HEMP with a coin swap to a working POW/POS? This coin needs someone leading it and you're clearly quite invested. Or open it up to the community and get killsig and others involved.

It definitely looks relevant. Since this coin is going to have a long life span, upgrades like this should always be considered after tests have been done and the upgrades have proven they work.

@with the lemons! should keep an eye on that progress over the next year.

I'm more interested in doing a diverse banding campaign. THC in general is quite popular among a certain crowd. HEMP is probably way more popular, but with a different crowd.

I would want someone to create a wallet called HEMP with all HEMP stuff that uses the same blockchain as THC.
Then once that is complete, someone could get HEMP on poloniex.

bittrex would have THC, poloniex would have HEMP. Both the same coin. No confusion involved.

This would extend the audience reach. It's an innovative idea that no coin has done yet.

About The crypto-x thing, THC by itself is not popular enough to achieve any sort of fund raising. All the weed/hemp niche coins together are needed to create a big enough buzz about the idea.

I can ask @Joint Force to refer to this coin as HEMP The Hemp Coin. It might be confusing without a HEMP wallet, [HEMP] not displayed in this thread and HEMP not on poloniex though.

I can change all the THC to HEMP on https://hemp.cash

I could help out with a coin swap to improve the coin and re-branding to HEMP at some point if everyone wants that. Right now I see no rush into that. I'm hoping @with the lemons! can figure all this out over the new few months.

News:

I'm talking with CDT Cassubian DETK. They have located a hemp farmer in Poland for me. We are looking at options for getting $5,000 USD to produce a shipment to Canada of a 1% THC Hemp Vodka with a hemp stalk instead the bottle.

@Joint Force is going to run a Crypto X for this once he is finished with that stuff.

20 BTC -> Ethereum (If it ever gets released) -> Crypto X -> THC Hemp Coin

We have come up with a pretty nice idea to convert BTC to other cryptocoins without using bittrex while also providing jobs for people!

Looking forward to this!  Grin

Fartbags, has been on the cutting edge of cool stuff!

Would it look a little something like this? Imagine if you could pull off the bottom hempcoin nub and then stick in a glass bowl with a rubber connector into that place! It would convert into a bong. woohoo.

STRAIGHT PIMPIN. I would actually buy that with my THC just so I had it. Maybe get a nice strain high in CBD for the tincture. Get a fresh new bong every time you buy one. This is brilliant!
