Switching algos will not work as intended. look at SMC (smartcoin). Changed from scrypt to x11. worked for about a week.

Yeah switching algos is a terrible idea.
Not necessarily, CannabisCoin went scrypt to x11 and it worked out more than fine for them. It's most likely due to the fact they were in their infancy when they switched though.

Every situation should be treated as individual, but noting comparisons from other coins. And due to the age of hempcoin, switching algos is a "gimmick" at this point and could actually have negative effects if the desired results aren't found -- meaning if the coin falls right back into the slump it's in, like it kind of is now. Goes along the lines of it's had it's second chance and no one still wanted it. x11 can be classified the "same" as any other algo that doesn't have ASICS or FPGA's, aside from energy efficiency -- but that doesn't matter if the coin is worth the price of electric and more. Energy efficiency means the coin can be dumped to even lower prices.

Switching algos is pointless if there's nothing else to go along with it, like innovation or real world development or such.

I do want to note I see things are picking up, and the slump is waning, so...

Yeah I wasn't supporting the idea for Hempcoin but was simply stating it's not inherently a bad idea.

I really (been honest now) dont understand why the wallet with stake option is not released still.... what is happening? i support THC but im a bit disappointed with this problem... is so difficult to do that? Im not a programmer and have nothing to do with it but... It is perfect to have a web wallet and everything else but if the normal wallet is not working as it should why it is not a PRIORITY to fix that? Would like to have some answers about it, every time someone ask there is no answer but something about the web wallet and viral and blablabla but not answer

edit: there is not FUD here only a big concern

We are working on it, don't worry Smiley Fixing POS is #1 priority now. If it was easy, it would be already done. Different people are working on web wallet, that's why we can have both.

Just something I noted while looking through the source.
Something I saw in the source of THC I haven't seen elsewhere in PoS coins in the main.cpp is this line of code:
unsigned int nModifierInterval = 6 * 60 * 60; // time to elapse before new modifier is computed

this is usually in the kernel.h as:
static const unsigned int MODIFIER_INTERVAL = 6 * 60 * 60

I like to share what I find if it helps.

That's because we are using newer code-base (latest Novacoin). Most other coins use old code-base, and that's why it's declared differently. But you are right that problem is probably located someone in kernel.cpp. I'm working on it, but I just can't focus today :/

strange, OC used novacoin as well for some things, but I'm not exactly sure what other than some GUI. Maybe check out OC source?
I know when PoS was disabled for OC, the commits were possibly based of Mintcoin codes. I'm still learning as I go, I'm not the dev.

I'm not trying to advertise. I'm involved in many coins, as a miner first and foremost. Wink

edit: OC was derived from novacoin, it's in the docs. not sure how old though.

Most POS coins were derived from Novacoin, but usually old version, so code looks quite different. Our code should be faster (in current development version, it's up to 20x faster!).

OC is very fast with it's staking, one of the things we boast. I know the code was altered in May to enable staking and other things were modified along the way up until August. I didn't think it could get much faster. There are periods of slow blocks way back when but I assumed it was normal due to the network waiting for coins to come of age, and I believe split POS had something to do with the speed.

If you'd like to continue talking about this, let's PM so I'm not blowing up your forum with OC related stuff.
