LOL, someone dumped into 195 to 190 4.5 btc,

Why is the MazaCoin website saying. MazaCoin is an all new fork of the ZetaCoin project that branched from BitCoin. MazaCoin is the Official National Currency of the Traditional Lakota Nation. damnnnnnn that sucks it's now Official and still dropping wtf!!

Please tell me when it became Official? Any news about Payu's speech at the bitcoin convention which happened 2 days ago?

It has always claimed to be the official currency, and that has always been false.

This isn't the original MazaCoin thread, this was: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=494105.0
Which has, in the title: 'National Currency'

And it you read all the press puff at the time, they were claiming to be official: (Also from the first post of this thread)

Someone was putting out all that misinformation, it didn't just magically appear.

From the release announcement:
Quote
Today at 12:00 Noon ET USA MazaCoin Version 0.8.1 BETA 1.2 Treaty Edition is released publicly. MazaCoin is the first ever Crypto-Currency to also serve as the Sovereign National coinage of a people. It is rare in the extreme that the world witnesses the roll out of a new national currency. This alone makes this an historic occasion. The fact that the Oglala Lakota Nation has chosen to enforce their 1868 treaty rights by issuing their own currency is yet another historically significant aspect of today's launch as well. But the fact that they chose a Crypto Currency is truly an amazing moment in the history of this new movement. It is courageous, innovative - and will create unparalleled economic growth for their Tribe.

False statements:
- serve as the Sovereign National coinage of a people
- Oglala Lakota Nation has chosen to enforce their 1868 treaty rights by issuing their own currency

They should first make it fully adopt by the first tribe. When other tribes see how the fortunes of this tribe has changed. They will follow.

What the devs have done to this coin is a travesty.  It once had a 10 million dollar market cap. Think how that could have made a difference.  Does the new website look like a serious attempt to tackle the above problems? Have they presented a convincing argument for its adoption?  The side projects: selling paper wallets, maple coin etc., asset management etc. betray the devs ignorance of how important this coin could have been.  The Lakota would have been given a massive injection of cash, the devs themselves would have been made wealthy, but instead they decided to undermine the whole project by trying to make $10 here and there.  They should have focused on BTC adoption by merchants on the reservation, education, BTC tourism, from there the transition to MZC coin would be a small step.  This was apparently what the BTC Oyate Project was all about, but the last tweet from them was about Payu being taken to court for child support payments.  All they had to do was develop a respectable web presence and respond with positive PR, but they blew it because of their myopia.

They should first make it fully adopt by the first tribe. When other tribes see how the fortunes of this tribe has changed. They will follow.

Actually, I trust dev could pump this coin easily, but just not about time to do it maybe.

The major problem is regarding to children seized by gov, to avoid this, simply to have a lawyer team of your own, and also you guy could held a protest and lobbying to your state council to force modify laws and build a Halfway House inside your Sovereign or tribe, and they'll keep these children till their parents turned capable to be their parents, and those kids living inside halfway house still growing with your nation's own way to learning culture, tradition and education and so on, most important these kids still care by their parents and living with their people.

In modern age, money is nothing but also every thing, it is impossible to ask gov to offer more money to care people, and this is a common problem every where, but you guys are lucky to own massive natural resource, and this may will be the key to solve every problem that you encountered.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While there is a strong, well documented historical campaign of cultural extinction, and current well documented egregious examples of racism in the Dakotas, the overall current mood in Minnesota is to revitalize the language and culture of the two groups most strongly represented in the state.  Those two groups are the Anishinaabe (also known as Ojibwe or Chippewa) and the Lakota/Dakota (also called Sioux, a term viewed by some as derogatory).

One example of racism was related to me by one of my former students.  She attempted to resell textbooks at the bookstore in Crookston and was told that "they stank" and could not be re-purchased.  She found a white friend who sold them a few hours later without and difficulty.

My impression is that Anishinaabe has a stronger teaching presence in Minnesota, but nonetheless some semesters, Lakota or Dakota are taught in selected schools in Minnesota.  There is a shortage of teachers, and there is an effort to develop fluent accredited teachers through various grants funded by the state of Minnesota.

Here is a link to the status of the languages.

A copy of a recent Request For Proposal is online.

UMM did receive one of these grants recently.

I am following the Mazacoin effort with great interest.

I try to be respectful and informed.

For those keeping score at home, Payu did have approval from the Lakota tribe to peruse crypto which I still can't understand why people can't wrap their head around that. They didn't adopt it as their only currency but is it the official currency of the Lakota as he does have the signed endorsement to peruse it and see what it can bring to them.

Official != Only

By stating it was the 1st official sovereign currency, it did seem to imply more than a signed endorsement to further investigate the coin. At best, we can call it somewhat creative marketing.

But in my opinion that was the first major mistake by the creators of the coin. Rather than go for the 1st national crypto thing on the website, if they simply stated that the coin was being considered as an official currency via the signed endorsement, I think things would have went better.

Really not sure what make of this:

http://cryptominers.freeforums.org/the-official-mazacoin-tribal-compact-t85.html

Article 2 seems to suggest that Anonymous Pirate seems to see himself as head of a central bank.

Of what does the Mazacoin organisation consist?

Why not have an official organization with a charitable status?  Who is the agreement between? How could any politician justify signing such an agreement with an anonymous third party who controls the code?

An official agreement would be big news.  This is just a contrivance...more shenanigans...more vagueness.   Incompetent at best, at worst an attempt to deceive.

Amateur hour again.

As I said before , that stats Empowering posted made me wish a bit for this coin success. Not success as in a high price but success about doing something for a desperate situation.

Hope this of all nation coins may achieve it's true purpose but...it seems people focus on different things rather that what it would be best for both coin/people.

Methinks that there is a possible retest of $340 coming in BTC - unless we just witnessed a double bottom- and if so we may get a little lift in BTC here, but still nothing major I suspect for a while.. in fact chances are we will see a triple bottom (or worse) with all the China noise, this week - now to the 18th/20th could be a bumpy ride...  we may see another sell off mid week...wed thurs, and if so and $340 holds with good support then we may get a nice bump in btc, nothing major but enough for now to take the market out of the doldrums, whilst the fincen/regulators become more clear in the states...  all this is to say , as said before if there is more even temporary bloodletting from the crypto market, and without any more news from the tribe on if they are going to rise to the challenge and take advantage of their unique legal position within the states to incorporate crypto (as they have done and I think will continue to do with various other enterprises , which I tend to think that once they cover their bases they may well do, but until then ... in the current climate with BTC , until there is a bounce and fresh or returning funds return to the crypto market, then MZC is going to continue to bleed... and I dare say with the rate of newly minted coins... until either the tribe speaks up, and or BTC makes its next wave up... then we are looking at further downward movement (barring any one deciding to make a large move into MZC on some sort of inside knowledge of its official adoption)  How far down ?  hard to say ... but as I said a week ago or so... interesting times in crypto land all around for many many reasons... there is much newses , rises and falls and failures to come in the next 3-4-6 months.  I continue to support and will continue to buy, it is early days still, and it is turbulent times in crypto, huge amounts of potential risk and also reward.  In terms of Mazacoin - I hope for the tribe’s sake, that this does play out well, conceptually it is a great coin/idea/cause/project- lets hope the market agrees in the longterm.

edit if 0.00000150 gets broken which I think it might, then maybe there will not be so much support down to 100- and ditto if 100 is broken then see you sub 50
