Aren't there some security flags and/or security mechanisms when you initiate 19,000 ETH withdrawal from a hot wallet on cryptopia? Anyhow that is why we desperately need some good decentralized exchanges to replace these traditional exchanges.
security flags like duh! big question. They limit withdraw amounts on many shitcoins, but for ETH and TET pull Millions and not placed in pending for review. SRSLY? How is it even possible to 'allow' draw downs that exceed even the biggest account? The scrypts would automatically ping a big red flag on such. If that was true and that's indeed if that was a real garbage exchange site and the worst team in the world. Just curious about is there a report on security of cryptopia? Let's say no to the crappy shitty low volume exhange site.

It's not the first time hackers break into this exchange. And I'm stepping on that rake a second time! Now my shitcoin has fallen into the wrong hands. I made appropriate conclusions about the team...!

Down for 48 hours.
Poof!
Why don't they sell the exchange to interested buyers instead of packing up. I never really used cryptopia that much but I knew it was a resting place for most shit tokens

very bad news for the market today, why this incident must occur. I feel sorry for those who still have assets in cryptopia. luckily i didn't use cryptopia from mid 2018. when the market was falling and there was news about the market being hacked like this. this will have a negative impact on prices.

I don't know what is up with Cryptopia and only used them a couple of times and have no coins there at all. But speaking about decentralized exchanges, I am a big fan of them and I wish they can do better but some decentralized exchanges are just bad and have a lot of problems that can lead to huge loss in money for traders there too. But there are really good decentralized exchanges that I use on a daily bases too. so ya until now there is no perfect solution for us yet.
Last year, etherdelta was "hacked" by same hackers who "hacked" now cryptopia. no sauce given

They did it in an early Q1 2014, just like today. Will history repeat its story again? a rumor about ETF, Hacked exchange, what is more?

First of all let's be frankly - cryptopia was a shitcoin exchange and the "hack" was just a matter of time. I don't believe that some hacker was able to hach cold wallets from outside. It's definitely the work of cryptopia founders.

In terms of security 2Fa, multiple check points, cryptopia was A++; in terms of customer support, they started to suck mid-2018. just a matter of time. well that by your logic applies to ALL exchanges given whatever a "shitcoin exchange" can be defined as. This was a serious exchange. was. Again A++; Very few could grade above it's level in terms of transparency. In terms of jurisdiction. In terms of functionality. ETH specifically be hacked is a giant red flag. This looks slippery deeper than non-nonchalant just a "shitcoin" exchange comments. {It's definitely the work of cryptopia founders.} Looks like that is the reasonable explanation. Founders don't know. But some one with keys.

Crypto currency exchanges have very low security levels. This arrangement will make many investors suffer. Crypto currency exchanges should now be better inspected and controlled

The exchange was small, but really high-quality and professional. I was confused only by the exchange support service. The fact that the exchange has been hacked is extremely sad, I hope that the owners of the exchange will honestly refund the funds, because it is their mistake (if it is not manipulation).

well that by your logic applies to ALL exchanges given whatever a "shitcoin exchange" can be defined as.
It's safe to say that every single exchange will eventually get hacked. Most of them already were, probably many more times than they'd report it publicly if the losses weren't that great. Very few could grade above it's level in terms of transparency.
What do you mean here? Let's be honest, no centralized, closed source exchange could ever be really transparent at all. Even some basic transparency would imply knowing how much coins were in hot and cold wallets. But exchanges don't even share that. And realistically, how could they had all those coins in hot wallets AND let the system withdraw it automatically (if that wasn't circumvented)? After all these years and so many hacks that's just either utter stupidity or a cover. Many crypto services and tools were ended in the last few months, it's not impossible this is how they wanted to get out. Though we'll never know for sure.

It's not that much (now), but anyway... Hopefully we will never see some TOP exchange hack - that would be a real disaster kinda mt.Gox. As for crAptopia - I've never traded there, but even if so I wouldn't deposit more than 0.1% of my funds, cuz it's totally crappy exchange.

Now you need to wait for announcement from the exchange. I hope that they will return all the stolen funds to their users.
