In my opinion ethereum will replace if bitcoin runs out supplies, it's already gained popularity so no doubt ethereum will replace it. Ethereum will be the number 1 crypto in the future.

Bitcoin will still be the coin to use. We are not even sure if it will hit mass adoption or if people will leave the fiat system and solely use bitcoin. So the problem in its maximum will not be a problem. And I am sure the devs will propose an improvement on the core to supplement if the problem occurs.
as for XRP, I think it will not happen. XRP is centralized and it is manipulative.

it is very difficult to replace BTC, because BTC is the beginning of existing coins, and all coins currently still depend on the price of BTC, like in the real world BTC is gold or land, the longer the price is cheaper the more it rises, both eth and xrp I don't think it's possible to shift the btc value even though it rises, then btc will also rise

But Ripple(XRP) has banks behind and this is why the coin is now competing against Ethereum ,erc20 is now losing its popularity as many platform was created and gaining trust from the ICO now so in future maybe Ripple will take the top 2 position permanently second to bitcoin |

I do not think that ripple will be able to compete with ethereum, the winner will be ethereum, thanks to smart contracts and a new mining algorithm. But do not forget that ethereum has competitors with cheaper transactions.
There was a lot of coins from the team will be dumped to the market and this will prevent the price of ripple. It's just the matter of time and i was seeing a lot of chance for ethereum in this case. That will be a true story about that. |

In my opinion, both ETH and XRP have the potential to stabilize the crypto currency market replacing bitcoin. Competition between ETH and XRP will continue to occur to compete for the highest position. Both of these coins will be competing to create more useful innovations. ETH might be a substitute for bitcoin because ETH has technology that can be used as real as possible, providing blockchain rides and smart contact technology. While XRP has advantages in terms of transaction speed. I'm sure the more forward the two coins will be to innovate.

This discussion is quite interesting because ETH and XRP are now competing for second place. And indeed the XRP can go up in number two but it doesn't last long and Ethereum is back in number two. I don't even think any of them have the chance to beat Bitcoin. A look at XRP and ETH one can see the competition is hot, but yet ETH keeps retaining its position. So I don't think XRP can ever beat ETH on the long term let alone replacing BTC in the future.

Ethereum all the way, I mean there is no point on asking which one is better, ripple is literally a decentralized scam coin and that's just it. If you ask how they managed to get so high in market cap and how they have been around for so long, it is pump and dump scheme. They have plenty of the same coin themselves and they just buy it and sell it the way they want to. That is why they managed to play with the coin and the price however they wished to.
If the price is too low they just buy some because they sold a lot of it early on so they have shit ton of bitcoin in their account and that way they prevent the coin to drop too further down than the market and when their coin goes way too higher than it should they sell it and make that bitcoin back.

For me, Eth and XRP are both good coins, they have high volume even in coinmarketcap, but I would go for eth, I think choosing is a matter of choice based on my research. In all, they both have their different use case. I also think the value of eth will rise more because of it's demand and acceptance in the cryptospace.

Anytime and any day, I will prefer ETH to XRP. To me Ethereum is more useful and applicable than XRP and there is also controversable about the decentralization of XRP, many are still skeptical about this.
