This could be a fake news from my view anyway if it was real then maybe someone reported the guy to the authorities and were able to trace his IP address. Maybe the suspect sent the funds to a known exchange and got his identity revealed? My only concern there though is that he was tortured in front of his 4-year old kid which could traumatize the kid. That's not good.

This is the exact reason why I really dislike buying those bitcoin stickers and shirts. The last thing I want is to be tortured for me to give the criminals my private keys. Wearing bitcoin or cryptocurrency-related paraphernalia is pretty much like a huge "rob me" sign and is a huge unnecessary risk a person is taking.
Yeah exactly. And to me this is some sort of someone selling private informations maybe from KYC or what that resulted into brutality. I think we need to be really anonymous for our safety. Inside job is also another part of an angle to that incident. Lawless elements are lurking so I think the best thing to do is to stop posting or wearing anything that may trigger such brutal incident to happen again.

Most of you are way too paranoid.  Look at all the famous people that attend crypto conferences and this never happens to them.  I'm sure Craig Wright or John Mcafee wouldn't be hard to find and we know they are holding large amounts of crypto.  Live your life and don't worry about something that is unlikely to happen.

Do not ever disclose your assets anywhere. Keep your private keys at safe places and keep you funds in different wallet. This is really sad that a crypto trader is brutally tortured in front of his 4 years daughter, criminals never have emotions, local police must have taken care of it but always play safe.If you earn good money from cryptocurrency, never disclose it to anybody, never share information about your crypto wallet. Disclosing and exposing your money will not increase it rather it will put you on risk, stay safe.

The suspects probably got the information from Friends, family members or friends could have been the suspects.  I doubt it is from the exchange, it is a possibility though.

I wish there is a feature that helps split owners coins into many parts with different private keys to prevent thieves from stealing the whole coins if the private keys are requested from the victims by the thieves.

And this now got me worried its adviceable not to tell anyone how much cryptocurrency you have or hold presently who knows? You might be a target, let's be more extra careful
Some users treat bitcoin as if it was not money and they advertise to the world how much bitcoin they are holding, however would you tell people how much money do you have in your bank account even if you do not know them? If the answer is no, then keep the size of your bitcoin holdings private even if they are small, because there is always a chance that someone could believe that you are some sort of whale just because you use cryptocurrencies and that is no good.

I wonder how did they know that the person is a trader?
Unless the person post it on his social media or tell anyone around him there is no other way they would know,
And also if this was an inside job why would he be the target.

Those are criminals. Those people literally scanning potential victims and it's possible that the trader was in their radar and they have build a 'case' against him for months and they took sweet time to let the traders feels comfortable and then they attack. Gutless mofo, they should be really put behind bars for this crimes.

A crypto trader from the Netherlands had been brutally tortured in front of his 4-year-old daughter, by 3 suspects disguised as police.  The investigator suspected that the criminals stole some private keys, passwords that transferred the victim's fund to the suspect's wallet. How could the criminal know his a trader and identity, location? Could this be an inside job?
I have heard these sort of news in the past too, never ever reveal your identity to anyone you meet online or boost about your crypto wealth to anyone or post your trading exploits in social media, i am not sure how he was exposed to a bunch of criminals, unless they are caught and how they took him as a target it is just speculation. I have not seen any updates about the past crimes too, until they are caught you never know how they targeted him.

Shocking that they would do this in front of a child but proves that they will go to any measure to get paid. Ensure your home has an alarm system with a panic button, this and a hardware wallet will keep your bitcoins safe

it was very painful, and it made a huge loss for the victims, and I think it needs to be investigated more broadly.

This is a very unwanted news and it's not good for the cryptocurrency community.
Probably the victim had tipped himself of to the suspect that why it's paramount to keep anonymity

Knowing the name of a criminal is one thing but finding the face that carry out the crimes is another thing, before any criminal will carry out a criminal act he must work with information. The identity of the bitcoin trader might have been disclosed to the criminal by an insider.

Firstly what do you mean by an inside job ?
Do you think that the creators and other people involved with this can be that free !?
They can't !
And also contacting them would mean you are yourself searching for someone about whom you know nothing thus just let this slide this can never happen.
Sometimes people don't have any problem with sharing their personal identities online , here , like me  Grin thus this is surely that case.
He would have just left traces here and there other than that nothing else could happen.

It could be possible that it was his acquintance who did it. Guess he owned big amount of crypto coins or bitcoin on his wallet. If they got his private keys and immediately open his account infront of him, there is no other way that he can get it back. How sad, that we are not aware that the one's we are opening up about crypto infos are the one's who are thinking how to steal it.
Hope, they'll find justice to that man who got brutally tortured.

Most robbers nowadays prefer robbing people of their digital asset, they even kidnap and ask for a certain fraction of bitcoin for ransom. Everyone in the crypto-space need to be extremely careful.

Most effective way for criminals not to get compromised by the FBI while transferring money and robbing someone else's pocket.
Now, we starting to realize the darkside of cryptocurrency if we're not very careful not to expose our identity.

This could also trigger the robbers. I have seen few people
in my place who wore tshirts and jackets with the big BTC logo. There were even cars with cryptocurrency stickers. And this post above is absolutely right, its like these people are inviting robbers to rob them.

The suspect work on information because how did he know the man is a bitcoin trader or is the man doing his bitcoin trading in the open because for all I know since bitcoin is a high tech it trading is mostly carried out using computer device and very difficult to no is any one is involve in it without being told.

As for me, to give an advice regarding how a trader being brutally humiliated through cyber activities like hacking and phising. In order to be certain and have more secure storage of funds if you're a trader, don't park your asset at trading site since the market wasn't moving very fast on transactions. Based on my experience early this year, I was luckily pulling out and transfer my holdings to secured mew from exchange site which I used to choose stored my coins. Unfortunately after two weeks the site was hacked due to security breach problems. Always have a vigilant and advance thinking towards your holdings in order to prevent any bigger circumstances which might occur randomly, always be at safe side.
