Major Bytecoin update

Bytecoin source code has been largely updated.

1) The block chain has been moved out of RAM, which cut down the usage from 4 GB to 850 MB. In the next releases it is expected to become as low as 350 MB.
2) The block chain file is now unified across all platforms.

When you run the new binaries, the daemon will automatically convert your old block chain to the new format. Your "blockchain.bin" file will be split into 3 files: "blockindexes.dat", "blockscache.dat", "blocks.dat".

Next week there will be another significant update!

P.S. BCN devs would like to thank all the beta tester from the community that helped them launch this release.

I just received the letter from the developers. They say the issue with fresh start and "bytecoin" folder has been resolved.

There are updated binaries on the website.

Would be good to mention somewhere (eg. on first page of this forum) the current version of binaries (software). It looks that we will update it many times in this great time.  Wink

You are now synchronized with the network. You may now start simplewallet.

Please note, that the blockchain will be saved only after you quit the daemon wi
th "exit" command or if you use "save" command.
Otherwise, you will possibly need to synchronize the blockchain again.

Use "help" command to see the list of available commands.

Nice to see some development. Dunno if this is normal but i am getting the above errors.

Greetings

I have asked during betatesting on this bigbrother errors because I got a lot of red rows with it. Dev people told me that It's another problem, which currently takes place in all CryptoNote coins not only bytecoin and the most important is that this does not have impact on the deamon functions. They are going to fix the problem soon but it is not probably priority nr.1 because it does not harm the function .... It makes sense to me.

Thank you for the explanation.

Deamon works indeed oke.

Definitive proof that our devs might be the ones of a very few people in cryptoworld who really understand the technology and are willing to bring it to the whole new level.

Definitive proof that clones/forks can never match the integrity and intellect of original developers Grin

The guys at Monero have a pretty good understanding of the coin and out of all forks have the most.

Ironically, the coin was simply under conventional business radars, while Bytecoin devs were wholly obsessed by the technology they were working on and didn’t pay much attention to spreading the word about it.

IMO that's explains why we haven't heard about bytecoin before this year.

IMHO Bitcoin devs understand the code better than everyone because they've developed it.

Thats why, they are able to improve it

TBH I think Devs are the team of top notch cryptocurrency developers, who work a lot on BCN improving rather than spend time on the forums. They provide new ideas and improve BCN features while other devs can only copy their work

Significantly premined. It's not a 100 percent accurate description for BCN though since it was technically not premined before launch. It's just that the launch happened in the deep web and not out in the open as is the case with most other coins.
