IIRC, SHA wasn't too bad for that. TEK, Sync, and a few others I've been involved with were TERRIBLE. Like seriously couldn't leave them for more than an hour or the sync would stick. Newer code seems to recover better when whatever sticks the import of the chain, but it still happens.
