Diskcoin: More Energy-saving Bitcoin

What is Diskcoin?
Diskcoin: An energy-saving and scalable peer-to-peer crypto currency system, uses the Conditioned Proof Of Capacity ( CPOC ) consensus algorithm to reduce the consumption of electricity and lower the entry barriers in the process of crypto currency production, which is more decentralized, without affecting security.

Energy saving and environmental friendly CPOC
Thanks to the Conditioned Proof Of Capacity (CPOC) consensus algorithm , Diskcoin is hundreds of times more energy efficient than most cryptocurrencies.

More decentralized
Diskcoin uses Conditioned Proof Of Capacity (CPOC) consensus algorithm,so Diskcoin is mined with low power hard drives instead of energy hungry CPUs, GPUs and ASICs. And Hard drives are cheap and easily accessible. Miners could use free space on their hard drives to mine Diskcoin.

The Dynamic Equilibrium Staking
Miners need Staking the corresponding Diskcoins to get the most benefit. And the proportion of coins that need Staking is not simply fixed or decrease progressively. Instead, an algorithm named DES( the Dynamic Equilibrium Staking ) algorithm is used to adjust the staking percentage according to the difficulty of mining.

Vision and Mission
In Diskcoin, we take pride in the fact that we strongly believe in energy-saving, decentralization and innovation and that we favor long-term strategies over short-term greed. Diskcoin has No ICO, No premine. And our vision is to lower the barriers to entry cryptocurrency and bring it into the lives of people.

Parameter of Diskcoin
Total supply: 21,000,000
Block time: 4 mins
Block size: 8 MB
Initial block reward: 20 DISC
Halving cycle: Every 4 years

What is Conditioned Proof of Capacity?
The CPOC ecosystem model includes mining pool, miner, crypto currency holder, wallet, exchanges and hardware vendor. The positive inner cycle and entrance of outside resources would bring expansion and development to this ecosystem, the rising price of Diskcoin would attract more miners; more miners coming to the system will lead to further price increase.

Advtantages of CPOC
The CPOC system, could give miners the choice to have the most of the profits, incur cost for them to be the holder of other POC coins, and avoid any malicious act. At the same time, the CPOC system attaches great importance to the release of distributional right and packaging right without barrier, which brings equity to the system.

If your PID is applicable, you are no need to replot files to mine DISC. If your PID is not applicable, you need to use the tool to generate new PID and then plot if you want to mine DISC.
Kindly note that with the PID generated by Diskcoin PID Generator, you could also mine other POC coins together. For DISC, the only function of the PID is to plot, which does not require binding.
Diskcoin PID generator has already open source, you could check the details on GitHub: https://github.com/diskcoin-apps-team/PIDGenerator

dcminer is a tool for Diskcoin mining and has been opened source. https://github.com/diskcoin-apps-team/dcminer

Updated November 8, 2019: The Node Staking Reward of the DC 20 has been issued. The Node Staking Reward Plan started from DC 16, and the incentive rate is reduced by 10% for every five DC thereafter, that is, the reward rate from the 21st DC to 25th DC is 1.8%.

Updated November 1, 2019:    Wink The Node Staking Reward of DC 19th has been issued!

Updated October 29, 2019:  Cheesy The Node Staking Reward of DC 18 has been issued! Please check it! Welcome to participate in Node Staking Reward Plan! https://www.diskcoin.org/staker

Updated October 25, 2019: Diskcoin has been open sourced on GitHub, the world's largest social programming and code hosting site. Since its inception, Diskcoin project has experienced continuous research and development work, and also received support and attention from community members. Open source is a major milestone in the development of Diskcoin, which means that Diskcoin will enter a new stage. Open source is committed to promoting ecological development, providing better services to developers and driving the industry forward.

Here is the link: https://github.com/diskcoin-apps-team/Diskcoin

Updated October 16, 2019: Diskcoin wallet updated to version-0.1.8.4 package-1016

Bugfix: some known bugs.

Note: please backup your wallet.dat before upgrading.

Download link: https://github.com/diskcoin-apps-team/wiki/releases/tag/v0.1.8.4-c4123ff

Updated October 06, 2019: From height of 27000, the Diskcoin wallet added the coinbase verification mechanism, but someone still tried to increase reward ratio via changing the coinbase data which resulting in the invalid block at 27128, and eventually the mainnet was stuck. After an emergency investigation by the dev team, the problem has been discovered and fixed, more testing is underway, and a new version will be released later, it is suggested that the miners wait patiently for the new version of the wallet. Thanks for your understanding.

Updated September 23, 2019: Diskcoin will open source on October 20, 2019, and will launch the Node Staking Reward Plan.

Participation in the Node Staking Reward Plan rules:

1. The plan is mainly for mining pools, wallets, exchanges, and other institutions. Each Staking needs at least 1000DISC. The more Diskcoin you Staked, the more rewards you will get;

2. The settlement time of the reward is after the start of the new DC;

3. The reward plan will start from block height 27001;

4. The Staking needs to last for at least 2 DC to receive a reward. The reward of the DC (N-2) will be settled at the beginning of the DC (N). For example, Staking statistics starts at block height 27001, settle after 30,600, and issue reward for the 16th DC (block height 27001~28800). Once unstaked before 30600, there is no reward;

5. Online submission of the Staked txid participating in the reward plan;

6. The reward will be issued to the stake out address;

7. The reward rate for the 16th DC is 2%. For example, if you Staked 1000 DISC in 16th DC and does not unstake until the end of 17th DC, the 16th DC reward is 1000*2% = 20 DISC.
And the incentive rate is reduced by 10% for every five DC thereafter, that is, the reward rate for 21st DC is 1.8%. For example, if you Staked 1000 DISC in 21st DC and does not unstake until the end of 22nd DC, the 21st DC reward is 18 DISC.

8. All issued Diskcoin rewards will be distributed by the Diskcoin Foundation.

For more details: https://www.diskcoin.org/staker

The Node Staking Reward of 16th DC has been issued to the account, please check it.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I cant understand how this mining works? We should have some free space on our hard disc for mining your coins? More free space - more coins rewads? Is this safe for our data and discs at all? This is something like cloud storage?

Read about Burst mining. It is the first PoC coin, maybe then you can understand PoC mining.

Can you explain simplly?
For PoW, more hashrate = stronger hardware (CPU, GPU or ASIC...)
For PoS, more hashrate = more coins.
Sor for PoC, more hashrate = ?

For POC, more hashrate=more capacity. If your hardisk has a larger capacity, you will get more hash values, then you are more likely to get coins.

There are many differences between Diskcoin and burstcoin. One of the main differences is that Diskcoin uses CPoC ( Conditioned Proof Of Capacity ), which is based on PoC2 and adds the Staking mechanism. Miners who are involved in mining need Staking the corresponding Diskcoins to get the most benefit. The proportion of coins that need Staking is not simply fixed or decrease progressively. For more details, you could check in our White Paper: https://diskcoin.org/files/diskcoin-paper/Diskcoin.pdf

How can I participate in your test network? Can I contact you? ,
Are you ready to launch discor?

We are planning to open the applications for the testnet mining later. You can follow our official website and Twitter, the latest news will be updated in time. As for Discord, it is being planned and will be launched as soon as possible.

When testnet mining is released,
Can I use the mining tool of burst?
For example: Blagominer, scavenger, pocminer?
Or can you only use your custom mining tools?

I cant understand how this mining works? We should have some free space on our hard disc for mining your coins? More free space - more coins rewads? Is this safe for our data and discs at all? This is something like cloud storage?

About how this mining works, you could click on this link to know more: https://burstwiki.org/en/
Then what the different diskcoin and burstcoin?

There are many differences between Diskcoin and burstcoin. One of the main differences is that Diskcoin uses CPoC ( Conditioned Proof Of Capacity ), which is based on PoC2 and adds the Staking mechanism. Miners who are involved in mining need Staking the corresponding Diskcoins to get the most benefit. The proportion of coins that need Staking is not simply fixed or decrease progressively. For more details, you could check in our White Paper: https://diskcoin.org/files/diskcoin-paper/Diskcoin.pdf

Sounds a little bit like the BHD mortage system.
Waiting for more details and testnet  Grin

You could participate in the testnet mining in about 2-3 weeks, and our website will update the latest news about it in time.
The plotting tools are universal, but you have to use our miner.

Understand, when testnet comes out, will the wallet and explorer and the mining tool be released at the same time?
How long will testnet take to enter the main network?

You are aiming to be more energy efficient than bitcoin, but establishing your worth in the market is another thing.
Countless projects have been trying to beat the features of BTC, yet, they are nowhere near with BTC adoption.
You can create a better, faster and stronger altcoin than BTC but you need to create your own image and build from it.
What are your comprehensive plans on how to attack your mass adoption?

Hi "DiskCoin",

I was very interested when i first saw the chance of a "NEW" hdd mineable coin. I love POC coins.....
but

Seems like a copy of BTCHD...

1)   Why make it based on POC2 plots.....that surely means that the guys who already have 100's of TB already plotted will simply have yet another coin to mine in massive amounts, completely freezing out any newbies....i mean triple mining, seriously.
2)   What is with the only 40% reward. Why so low. Why force me to stake? What's in it for me, and you? I assume that if i am not staking, that my missing 60% goes somewhere. To you perhaps?

Not the greatest way to pre-lanch a coin.

Let's see the code, and see some transparency please.

I'm ready, sat here waiting, with my single 8TB drive.

J

Just had a quick look @ BTCHD, their current network size is "Full network capacity 1434.81 PB", so you really want to triple mine against those sats?

Here's a hint as to why to keep closed source...so no one knows what sneaky things the developers are doing.

https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/c4v1yi/important_boom_coin_scam/

Crypto is about trustless systems right? Closed source does not follow this. It is just greed. Do you want greedy developers for a coin that you spend time, money, and energy on?

BHD also says they will be having open source "soon". More like "never".

Understand your concerns. When we make sure there are no fatal security issues, we will open source at the first time. After all, we want to attract developers from the POC community to participate in this project.

1.We all love the POC; 2.The POC2 mechanism is a proven mechanism, with large community base; 3.Adding the Staking mechanism is based on economic model considerations. We believe that people in the community can benefit from the Staking mechanism.; 4.Huge existing capacity is indeed a problem, we are studying the impact of this. And finally, thanks for your attention.

Sorry that forgot to reply to your question about Staking. The proportion of coins that need Staking is not simply fixed or decrease progressively. For the first 1800 blocks, the miner would get 40% block reward at a fixed proportion, the others will be contributed to the Diskcoin Foundation to cover project development costs, promotion costs, and as a fund to support related ecological projects. And from the block height of 1801, an algorithm named the DES(the Dynamic Equilibrium Staking)will be activated. The DES will automatically adjust the staking percentage according to the difficulty of mining, the amount of produced Diskcoins and the percentage of Diskcoin staking to ensure the good operation of the whole system.

Please don´t call it staking, it is the same system like the mortgagesystem at BHD.

"(...)we want to attract developers from the POC community(...)"

Perhaps you can start by being more transparent. As is, this looks like just another shady cash grab from some obscure Chinese "devs" with large PoC mining farms looking to get rich at the expense of some equally greedy miners legitimizing their scam - no different than BHD and Boom.

@ Villentretenmerth: BHD shouldnt be put on the same level as Boom, which has recently proven to be a scam.

Hahahahahahaahahahaha

We will see about that.

Update:In view of the fact that many miners are interested at the testnet mining, we launched the application for testnet mining. If you want to participate in the testnet mining, you could fill in this form. The link to form: https://forms.gle/RMDu2EHKV8pMwaC87

At the same time, we also feel that the community is very concerned about the development plan of Diskcoin, so the following is the details.
The testnet will be online around June 30th.
The mainnet will be online around July 15th.
Three months after the mainnet online, Diskcoin will open source, the time is around Oct 15th.

Can you explain this algorithm you speak off? For dynamically adjusting the mortgage.

In the absence of Staking, the miner can get 40% of the mining reward; if the staking is sufficient, the miner will receive nearly 100% of the mining reward. The DES ( the Dynamic Equilibrium Staking )  will automatically adjust the staking percentage according to the difficulty of mining, the amount of produced Diskcoins and the percentage of Diskcoin staking. Regarding the specific formula of the algorithm, we will post it after the mainnet online. Smiley

This is a good news. I like the fact, that the team also first of all cares about possible mistakes. so, they will be minimal, or not at all. then, the functionality can be used comfortably.

Another Newbi Mining Course on SOLO Digging

Official website: https://newbi.io/

Main online time:2019-06-28

Mortgage Rule: One piece of money can be dug. For example: Block height 2000 You need 2000 coins in your wallet to SOLO.

Tutorial: https://newbi.io/theme/shop/newbi-2.0/static/doc.pdf

Mine Pool Course:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10fQ4bA4GvyTW5JPOPtMtiPSyQ_TQOUMN?usp=sharing

The course is very clear. I don't need to say much.
This currency can not use bhd, burst data, need to re-P disk. P Good plate is good at present, but it does not need to dig more. You can only dig cow coins.
introduce

Newbi is an encrypted currency based on the new model of PoC + PoS mining. Newbi has lowered the mining threshold and devoted itself to creating a new mining system with green and energy saving. Using a unique PoC (Proof of Capacity) consensus algorithm, miners can use the idle space in the local computer hard disk drive to mine, while hard disk mining has the natural advantages of low purchase threshold, low power consumption, low noise, less heat dissipation, and can not be ASIC. It has changed the situation that the traditional mining machines are monopolized, the cost is high, the power consumption is high, the noise is big, and the specialized mining field tends to be centralized. It has realized the vision that everyone can dig and mine at home.

Newbi mining software generates and caches large amounts of data, called plots, which are divided into 4096 parts called scoops. Plots is generated by a common address and a specific address, and then computed, adding the generated results in advance, repeating the hash-pre-append cycle many times, and then computing the whole event, or the last calculation at the same time with the whole event. Plot only needs to be generated once, and your hardware will be idle most of the time, more friendly to CPU or GPU hardware and energy.

The total amount of Newbi is 5,396,922,800 without pre-excavation. Starting from the first block, each block will be rewarded with 10,000 Newbi, one block in about 4 minutes. The monthly reward will be reduced by about 2%, and the miners need to mortgage 0.01% of the total circulation of Newbi for mining.

The cow currency is very difficult to dig now, and the project party is not free to send coins.

Buy 3000 Newbi=0.05 ETH  0x6d28cfe3ff440f863e535677ca0c6c4528d6e926

This is just the current price.

Leave your NEWBI wallet address below the post after purchase and mark the address that was transferred to ETH to my wallet.

You are a cheek, you mount a copy of burst and to be able to mine you have to buy 3000 coins that have no value ......... You are a con man.

July 8, 2019, Update: Recently we have received a lot of questions about Plotter ID, now we provide a Diskcoin PID Generator here:  https://diskcoin.org/PidGenerator/ . You can click this link to generate a PID.

After our mainnet online, it may not be compatible with the PID of other wallets. So recommended that you use this tool to generate PID to mine DISC.

If you do not use the PID generated by this tool to plot, you will not be able to multi-mine (mine other PoC coins while mine DISC).

Outside the pow graphics card miners, when a new ETH algorithm currency appears, don't you let those people dig? Why do you need to consider small miners?
When an ETH currency comes out, all the ETHs will be switched over, and the whole network will become bigger instantly. Can you solve it?
So, POC new currency comes out You can only increase the number of hard drives, just as ETH miners increase the number of graphics cards in order to make a profit.
If you want newbi, he will die very fast, and no one is going to dig.

BHD has now experienced an overall ecological downturn. If the disc is accessed at this time, it has a very good effect on the disc. Now the boom has access to many BHD miners. They sell BHD and get BOOM's full mortgage loan mining. For disc, this is an opportunity.
It is not for the benefit of BHD, it is the use of BHD customers to network accumulation, and BHD exists in the foundation and pre-digging, and opaque centralization, has begun to die.
You can observe the voice of the BHD miners!

Q: why do YOU think you are the middle of the universe - shouldnt disk coin adapt to the other coins - instead of demanding the other way around ?

July 8, 2019, Update: Recently we have received a lot of questions about Plotter ID, now we provide a Diskcoin PID Generator here:  https://diskcoin.org/PidGenerator/ . You can click this link to generate a PID.

After our mainnet online, it may not be compatible with the PID of other wallets. So recommended that you use this tool to generate PID to mine DISC.

If you do not use the PID generated by this tool to plot, you will not be able to multi-mine (mine other PoC coins while mine DISC).

You do realise that people won't mine this if not compatible since their HDDs are already filled with plots for other coins.

Hi,

Can anyone enlighten me how to use SOLO mode on this wallet? I dd try dcminer with passPhrases.txt added, the wallet will crash immediately with nonce submission. Right now the wallet behaves like a POOL.

I cant believe it ... please have them fix their wallet-address and numerical account ID generation first - this is the first poc-coin I met that generates incompatible IDs to burstcoin

I wont replot my drives for a new vapour coin ... please FIX this ..
and while you are at it .. where does your customized version of jminer send the deadlines and stuff ?
so that I can replace it with my existing combo of multimining proxy and scavenger

Update: The testnet will be updated to the new version later, and the block height will start from 1. Only members who have applicable PID can participate in the mining. So kindly suggest that you could check your PID through this link:https://diskcoin.org/PidGenerator/index.html#btnGroup

If your PID is applicable, you are no need to replot files to mine DISC.
If your PID is not applicable, you need to use the tool to generate new PID and then plot if you want to mine DISC.

And our PID generator has already open source, you could check the details on GitHub: https://github.com/diskcoin-apps-team/PIDGenerator

Kindly note that with the PID generated by Diskcoin PID Generator, you could also mine other POC coins together. For DISC, the only function of the PID is to plot, which does not require binding.

its a JOKE .. your PID-tester declares literally ALL existing plotter_IDs as "not applicable" and enforces a rule .. smaller than 18 digits .. smaller than 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFF+4 .. I have never encountered before - why do that .. if you want to let the people multimine - then dont behave like YOU are the center of the POC world ... most of us have plots .. and especially the bigger miners dont want new wallet addresses / new plotter IDs

Any Ideas on that ?

Any Idea on changing your miner's hashing method to be compatible ? so that we need not run 2 miners stressing our drives ?

Another Joker ? .. POC#2 ... so we CAN use existing plotfiles .. you only force us to generate new address and plotter_ID - which are  probably intentional Bigger than 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFF ...

Did you sit together with the disk-coin devs over a tea and discussed how to share the new POC world ?

@Oxus:
I'm going to ignore your last content - because I'm not raging ..

Renaming plotfiles doesnt help - because of the contained data - IF you want to do it in diskcoins favor you'd need to replot unfortunately (and yes .. shitgates got their nickname not for jokes)

Instead let me tell you .. the blockchain still doesnt verify (at least they didnt do until our testpool wallet was blacklisted for the 2nd or 3rd time) your plotter_id to be lower than said 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFF+4 - so you can continue testing with your existing plotfiles - as I do^^

I find it hilarious that the blockchain keeps blacklisting our testpool's wallet ...

Maybe Diskcoin can enlighten us why?

Burst/bhd/boom use uint64 PID, the PID that Diskcoin uses is less than uint56, we all use the same POC2 file.

At present, the global POC hashrate is around 2000p, and the hashrate less than uint56 occupies 1/256, less than 10P, which means that everyone needs to replot files. Replot will take time, the advantage of this is that there will be no huge hashrate in DISC mining immediately, which can avoid huge hashrate attacks for Diskcoin, such as 51% attacks or miner-activated softfork (MASF), thus ensuring the safety and stability on the chain. And it will be fairer for everyone.

Anyone with appropriate rights online that can resync / restart the testnet explorer's wallet - its hung on blockheight 8299 while the chain is at 8353

@Diskcoin .. you seem to "forget" a few things .. Replotting is only one side of the coin ... but we get (forced) new wallet addresses ... need to rebind other pools which poses problems in case of the big BHD pools - Hdpool / Hpool co-op .. as both only accept new bindings with sufficient pledge ...  And again it rises the question why YOU and your new vapour coin demand this step from miners interested ....

I feel reminded of AMD vs Intel in the early 90's - do you know what would have happened if AMD said "fuck Intel" WE now set the rules for 80x86 processors? Exactly we wouldnt know about AMD aside from early 90's stock exchange notices

hmmmm
Whilst you may want to dual / triple mine with the other crappy POC coins, i'd much rather start from scratch with a coin that can only be singularly mined.
Gives real people with a spare 1 - 2 TB a real chance, instead of all the massive 1PB+ rigs mining Burst/BHD/etc
After all the whole point of crypto is decentralisation...you know the hands of the many, not the few....

As for you AMD/Intel argument, who knows, if AMD had said "FCUKU" then perhaps Intel would be just a vague memory....only history will tell

Must admit, I was excited to get in on a new project from the beginning however, the chance of me "replotting" is zero. I will continue following the project to see if someone can get it to support our existing poc2 plots.

How to use the Linux wallet?

extract it to a new folder - enter said folder

>bash ./start.sh

because a dumb developer put in a forwarding command that gives error with sh ^^^

>./diskcoin-cli getinfo
>./diskcoin-cli getblockcount
>./diskcoin-cli getpeerinfo

very interesting command - use data from getinfo / getblockcount and verify against getpeerinfo to see
- if you see more than 1 peer (hint that you could be blacklisted if only 1 or 0 peers)
- your height is the same as that of most peers (synced-height)
- check for hanging peers (have lower synced-height than others ....)

>./diskcoin-cli getnewaddress

once that all works without errors - copy the address-string into your miner's config - its your receiving address

then mine .. and wait for the surprises of wallet-forks, rewinds

see also https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Original_Bitcoin_client/API_calls_list for a comprehensive list of most commands ... some dont work anymore since the bitcoin cash wallet used here is younger ...

small hint to the devs ... if you "testnet" .. why set "testnet": false in your wallet ? ROFL

EDIT

from Version 0713 onward .. the wallet includes a QT-driven application .. so if you have a "klickibunti" on your linux
just run ./diskcoin-qt &  and have fun

Diskcoin (DISC) has been added to C-PatEx.com family run exchange, that is on CoinMarketCap, for voting. You can vote either through being an active member with PATS on exchange or as a guest via donating LTC to address given of LcPatexEnTpraaLor6o5ojDkMivz4AUuDg which might be the faster way since another has a head start on the active member votes. The two green highlighted ones are the ones in the win so far for votes and for LTC votes. I have used this exchange for over a year as well as many projects I am in and has been trustworthy so far. GOOD LUCK!

Voting Rules ... these were recently updated as there was a disadvantage before and this fix should make it more honest:

Coins to add to C-Patex (voting):

All active members with at least 10 PATS are able to vote once.
Users having more than 100 PATS can vote more times. No amount is deducted.
Guests (non-users) can vote depositing LTC to associated address
Each month two coin will be selected: the most voted and the coin which have the biggest LTC amount raised.
The user or guest who submitted a winner candidate will earn 25% of LTC amount raised.
Cryptocurrencies that is allowed to include:

All POW or POS open source coins derivated from well known algos and compatible with bitcoin API/RPC calls.
New Projects that provide all documentation, source in Github, and support for exchange integration scripting.
No ICOs or ERC20 tokens are allowed, unless the issuer is a registered company with public financial information with CIK number (USA) or equivalent.

NewBI is a POC project too,It’s friendly to new miners or small miners. :

I cant believe it ... please have them fix their wallet-address and numerical account ID generation first - this is the first poc-coin I met that generates incompatible IDs to burstcoin

I wont replot my drives for a new vapour coin ... please FIX this ..
and while you are at it .. where does your customized version of jminer send the deadlines and stuff ?
so that I can replace it with my existing combo of multimining proxy and scavenger

I'm sorry, this is not a bug. NEWBI can't work together with burst and bhd,It's independent with others, It means you have to make a choice. To mine NEWBI or others.

The OP says you can multi-mine. Which coins can you multi-mine with Diskcoin?

Update: Recently we have received a lot of questions about Plotter ID, now we provide a Diskcoin PID Generator here:  https://diskcoin.org/PidGenerator/ .

Theoretically, if you PID is applicable, you could mine other POC coins together.

3 days left for you to change your mind about this nonsensical plotterID limitation .. that can lead to collisions in the based hashing function  ..

burst wallet does generate 19 digits or more exactly to "fight" the possible collisions

How i gonna run this dcminer on Linux any idea or is it just for Win

yea .. unfortunately DC miner is Windows only, which is especially laughable since the wallet is still linux only

but at least together with a mining proxy like Archon or Foxy-Proxy you can use your "general" linux miner

https://github.com/BloodReaver/Archon
https://github.com/felixbrucker/foxy-proxy
https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/scavenger

cleared the wallet problem .. thought I had overwritten anything with 0714 but since the devs chose a new distribution method .. the release contained a subdirectory previously not present ..
- stop hanging wallet >./diskcoin-cli stop
overwrite all files with v0714
- start resync >bash ./start.sh

Update: Staking tutorial for solo mining
From the block height of 1801, if you want to Stake, you need to do the corresponding operation in your wallet. The more DISCs you Stake, the more reward you will get.

Staking:
Command:
Code:
./diskcoin-cli pledgeto the-wallet-address-you-Stake-to the-Stake-amount
The Staking address needs to be the address that generated blocks.

How to check the default wallet address:
Command:
Code:
 ./diskcoin-cli getaccountaddress ""
A hash will be returned after the Staking.

Check the Staking records of the address:
Command:
Code:
listpledgein (minconf maxconf  ["address",...])
Minconf: minimum confirmation
Maxconf: maximum confirmation

Cancel the Staking:
Command:
Code:
./diskcoin-cli unpledge txid

You could use the listpledgein command to get the txid that has been Staked.
After the Staking is successful, it will take effect after 900 blocks.

what’s the problem? I have nearly 50T,The full network capacity is almost 500T,But i just got three rewards in three days.

The reward for the first block is eight Diskcoins, the subsequent rewards will be calculated according to staking formula and will increase accordingly. Is the reward always only 8 Diskcoins? Or is it just the first one?

@jecsoon2

the full block reward is always 20 disk
unpledged you receive 8 as forger - and 12 go to the dev-wallet - like in bhd or boom

if you pledge you receive more ... but unfortunately there was never revealed how much per TByte must be pledged to receive full reward
we tested on 0708 an 0710 with some sheath of hand and pledged our testpool to some 100 k disk -
which made us earn even above "ceiling" of 20 disk

the actual payment seems to hint to some asymptotic graph .. with moderate pledge of ~400 we get over 10 disk

but when ever you check your earnings vs pledge keep in mind that earnings are "delayed" by 100 blocks until they are "mature" ... depending on blocktime this can take some hours

I use that PID gen page to create a PID and used that number in turboplotter to plot the disk? I wonder if I did this correct? detail instruction are non existent for this project. I have been trying for a few weeks not to even get it to run. Could someone provide so clarity for these messages?

do you have "applicable" plotter_id = plotfile names ?

also possible your mining start came right about at the time where the dev restarted / reset the testnet

Lack of communication .. Would it have hurt to inform people about testnet reset ?

My original post was a result of changing the "Port" information in the miner.conf from 63336 to 63335, looking at the listener on the diskcoind server, tcp ipv4 is listening on 63335 and ipv6 is on 63336 which is the default and I changed it because I am not routing ipv6. Since, I nage changed it back to 63336 and the logs now read differently error however the miner still performs the same. It opens but does not do anything.

Code:

wouldnt fiddle too much .. dcminer is blago .. a seriously retarded miner that cant "comprehend" URLs ....

only address:port  - this calls usually for a mining proxy

192.168.1.109 ... cannot really be the server - except this is where your proxy runs ...

@Diskcoin
Do you know the consequences of not answering everyone's questions?
Maybe we won't be paying attention to your diskcoin.
The testnet is suddenly reset and the node cannot synchronize the connection.
You still haven't given a statement.
Then when the main network, you can also do this.
That's really bad, and the centralization is too serious.

If the release is delayed.
Maybe you have no ability to operate this currency at all.
It is best to give up, otherwise it will be full of loopholes, and finally only make his value become 0!

Wow,
What a train wreck this project is.
Question for the DEV...
How come this official wallets were released only a few hours ago, yet there is already 14910 TB plotted and mining.(https://explorer.diskcoin.org/)
How come the windows wallet does nothing when i click on "generate plotter id", so i use the link, which gives me a phrase and ID, but how do i ever access that account?

hmmm, why people keep following this, i have no idea...

Update: So glad to see that Diskcoin mainnet online has attracted many miners, and the network capacity has grown to more than 20P. Joining mining pool may be a good choice for miners who are unable to solo. Now, there are several pools supporting for Diskcoin mining:

1. https://poolx.com

2. https://disc.foxypool.cf/

3. to be added...

Is there a balance in the wallet?
In this case, the block was not forged successfully.

you have to plot them once with a plot-program, after that you can mine. Within is given the number of nonces and your PID.

yup, plotting can take awful lot time, depends on the hardware you use and settings in config.

thats why many people are angry they would have to replot existing plotfiles because of incompatibility with diskcoin plotfiles.

More 1 day to plot 1 TERA hard drive ? Normal ?  Grin

No.
Is it an external USB hdd, cos if its like mine its probably using SMR technology which makes them painfully slow to write small chunks to.

For me,
Using Ryzen 1700 8c/16c plotting direct to hdd, writing @ approx 20-50MB/s took me little over 9 hours.

Same config, but using SSD (basic 120GB) and same hdd, write speeds jumped to 80-120MBs, so plotting 1 TB took around 2 hours.

I think i got around 80,000 nonces/s , you can get similar with just a low end Nvidia 1030GT

Make sure to run turboplotter as Admin thou, and have at least 8GB system ram (that will give you about 2-4GB to play with) (16GB gives about 8-12GB free, so much better)

Good luck

CPU and/or HDD aren't fast. I am preparing 3 X 1 TO disks (2.5 SATA) for mining and test...

If OK, i will make others (but not SSD, because too expensive)

I get where your coming from Smiley

The ssd, literally needs borrowing for a week to help you plot, its the 3 x 1TB you plot to, not the ssd (its just a buffer effectively)
If you can't borrow an ssd, see if you can get your hands on any small fast drive, the WD Green/blue range, that kind of drive can be used as a buffer instead of an ssd, but so long as it is quicker than the drives you are finally writing to, it can make quite a difference.
Alternatively borrow as much ram as you can.
All you are trying to improve is the collating of lots of bits of data, so they can be written in bigger chucks. The bigger the chunks, the faster they write to the final disk. (if you ever want to try an experiment. Try copying 10,000 small files totalling around 100MB, then try copying 1 x 1GB file, you'll see what i mean, its similar principle. What you need is to find the fastest drive you can with the 10,000 small files, and use that as your "buffer" drive)

In your case, if you are plotting laptop drives, probably using any "modern" desptop drive as a buffer, will speed up the plotting....well, hopefully. If its going to take 3 days + to plot the drives, might as well do some tests for an hour first, who knows what you'll find Smiley

Why does Chrome say this error when trying to download the dcminer.0727.zip???

"dcminer.0727.zip is dangerous, so Chrome has blocked it."

Does anyone have any recommended mining software to use for Diskcoin???

The current installation package is not signed, so the Chrome may say error. This issue can be solved later.
These installation package are safe, as long as these are downloaded from Github or our official website.
And lots of mining software can use for Diskcoin, such as Blago.

I think fake miner means that some users have dishonest behaviors by submitting valueless DL to get the improper reward.
So PoolX banned these miner. It's a good thing for all miners. Cheesy

PoolX sets up Diskcoin Pools Association

Recently, PoolX monitored the data on the chain and found that some dishonest miners submit the same DL to different pools to obtain improper rewards.

In order to ensure fairness and other users’ experience, we decided to set up a mining pool association and cooperate with other mining pools to take certain measures against dishonest behaviors.

Detection principle: After sharing the height, DL and PID in each mining pool, the three dimensions are used to detect whether the miners are cheating.

To join the Mining Pool Association, first you have to launch the DISC mining, and then send the following information to us by email: support@poolx.com.

1. Mining pool name (required) :
2. Mining Pool website(required) :
3. Rewarded address(required) :
4. Contact information (required) :
5. Remarks (optional):

After receiving your email, we will reply to you with the API key and interface documentation.

PoolX hopes to gather the strength of everyone and maintain a good ecological environment together.

Currently, after joining the DPA, pools can identify dishonest miners by sharing user data. https://dpa.diskcoin.io/

Glad to see the establishment of the Association and thanks for your attention to Diskcoin.

U mean how much Diskcoins you can get with 100 tb per day?
No one can tell you that.
More capacity means that the probablity to get diskcoins increased.
it's the chance. not a certain thing.
so, NO calculator.

Wow, does anyone actually read anything properly on any forum.

True, no one can actually predict your earning, but if you simply go to the main pool
https://www.poolx.com/
At the moment it guesstimates 0.05 DISC/TB

Was that info, SO hard to find.....cos if it was , i'm not sure mining is your thing Smiley

Good luck
J

Oh, and the current Network Difficulty: 68.23 PiB, so you'd have about a 1 in 682.3 chance of winning a block with 100TB

If you unstaked, and the wallet didn't show the returned amount, don't worry, the diskcoins are still in your wallet, it's a just showing bug. We will fix it in next wallet version.

If you want to find back the diskcoins, you can use this temporary method instead:

1. generate a new address with your wallet
2. send all your amount to the new address ( just the amount you can see not the real amount )
3. then the missing amount will be back

If you unstaked several transactions, you can do this again and again till you find all the amount back.

Diskcoin Foundation identifies DISC.TOP as Chinese community partner

Since we released the news that we are looking for community partners around the world, we have received some cooperation applications. We are very pleased to see that users pay attention to and interest in the Diskcoin project.
After full understanding and review, we believe that DISC.TOP meets our requirements and identifies it as our Chinese community partner.
The Chinese market is very huge and there are many Chinese miners. In the future, we hope to cooperate with the DISC.TOP community to promote Diskcoin and to better serve Chinese miners and supporters.

how many time does the 'unstaking' status need?

The unstake operation will take effect after 900 blocks. It usually takes three days.

Withdrawal usually takes 24h to arrive for manual review.
PoolX will launch automatic review for small amount later, which takes only 16 blocks confirmations.

Don't forget to vote for DISC on C-Patex ... very easy to win and a trustworthy exchange.

BHD miners need to create an account in Burst wallet, so that they can get the Signature and PubicKey to verify the PID.
Burst wallet can be activated with the operation of "sent BURST".
You can receive 0.2 burst for free in some pools, if you don't have one.

Diskcoin will open source on October 20, 2019, and will launch the Node Staking Reward Plan.

Participation in the Node Staking Reward Plan rules:

1. Each Staked amount needs at least 1000DISC;
2. The settlement time of the reward is after the start of the new DC;
3. The reward plan will start from block height 27001;
4. The reward of the DC (N-2) will be settled at the beginning of the DC (N). For example, Staking statistics start at block height 27001, settle after 30,600, and issue reward for the 16th DC (block height 27001~28800). Once unstaked before 30600, there is no reward;
5. Online submission of the Staked txid participating in the reward plan.

The Node Staking Reward Plan Rule:

1. The plan is mainly for mining pools, wallets, exchanges and other institutions. Each Staking needs at least 1000DISC. The more Diskcoin you Staked, the more rewards you will get;

2. The settlement time of the reward is after the start of the new DC;

3. The reward plan will start from block height 27001;

4. The Staking needs to last for at least 2 DC to receive a reward. The reward of the DC (N-2) will be settled at the beginning of the DC (N). For example, Staking statistics starts at block height 27001, settle after 30,600, and issue reward for the 16th DC (block height 27001~28800). Once unstaked before 30600, there is no reward;

5. Online submission of the Staked txid participating in the reward plan;

6. The reward will be issued to the stake out address;

Update: Announcement on wallet safety

Recently, users reported that the wallet was stolen.

Diskcoin reminds users that if the default password has not been modified and rpc is opened to the public, the wallet is vulnerable to risk.

Please upgrade your wallet to the latest version in time, set your password, and set rpcbind and rpcallowip carefully.

From height of 27000, the Diskcoin wallet added the coinbase verification mechanism, but someone still tried to increase reward ratio via changing the coinbase data which resulting in the invalid block at 27128, and eventually the mainnet was stuck. After an emergency investigation by the dev team, the problem has been discovered and fixed, more testing is underway, and a new version will be released later, it is suggested that the miners wait patiently for the new version of the wallet. Thanks for your understanding.

Diskcoin Wallet updated to version v0.1.8.6-8bc7b2c (64-bit)

We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused by the recent issued wallet versions! There is a certain probability of the block fluctuation, and due to the limited verification conditions during the modification, we issued several wallet versions in order to solve these bugs early. However, more unstable bugs were caused during the process, which has troubled all of us.

Version 0.1.8.6 solved the known bugs, and adopts a more conservative algorithm, which is relatively stable compared to wallet versions. Please back up wallet.dat and then update to version 0.1.8.6.

Guys, I red the mining gude: diskcoin.wiki/en/Mining and it is far from complete.

Many specific details are missing, many stuff not explained why and how.
No minimum hardware specs, no hard drive size needed, no chain file growth prediction.

I understand that people who mined previous PoC coins might be interested and are already familiar with plotting and stuff,
but others are not. Please post a normal guide and then you might attract some people.

Also, I did not see anyone in Discord channel. If it is not maintained, please remove it.

Are there any exchanges where DiskCoin is traded?

In Diskcoin mining, there is no requirement for the size of the hardisk. The larger the capacity is, the higher the chance of mining coins. If you are not familiar with POC, you can go to BHD's mining tutorial first.  Cheesy

bad things? Are you saying that PoolX confiscated the improper income of the dishonest miners? I remember that it was assigned to other users.

To further meet the needs of users, PoolX will launch Diskcoin 100-0 on November 11, 2019 (UTC+0). In order not to affect normal mining and reward, users need to prepare as follows before 100-0 goes online:

1. After 100-0 is online, all users will enter 100-0 by default. However, users below 1P are recommended to switch to 0-100. Users who need to switch to 0-100 should manually change the configuration file in advance to replace the access domain name with: 0-100.disc.poolx.com.

2. Self-checking PID. In a pool, the same height can only receive one account and a PID to submit data, otherwise the system will automatically identify it as dishonest mining, thus affecting the reward, please pay attention to it. https://www.poolx.com/

Dear Diskcoin community members,

The Node Staking Reward of the DC 30 has been issued. Since the incentive rate is reduced by 10% for every five DC thereafter, that is, the reward rate from the DC 31 to DC 35 is 14.58%.

Thanks for your support and attention! https://www.diskcoin.org/staker
