that i know but at least an offer for the upgrade should be given. It is up to the buyer to upgrade or not.

I posted this in a different discussion but I noticed that this one is labeled active, please excuse my forum faux pas. I'm hoping someone here can help me since I am a relatively new to using antminers. I have three s1's and two s3's and I just bought my first s2. I have successfully ssh into the s1's and s3's and have overclocked/underclocked without any problems, but for some reason I cannot edit the /etc/config in the s2. I open putty and enter root/admin and instead of seeing the normal welcome screen all I see is a line "root@antminer:~#", then I enter "/etc/config" and it says "-sh: /etc/config: not found". I have updated to the latest firmware from Bitmain and have rebooted several times. Any ideas what might be wrong?
Did you got any answer to this I would like also to know the answer.

You can overclock the S2 from the web UI with the new firmware in the advanced tab. I wouldn't recommend doing so with the standard PSU though  Wink

So have you overclocked it? What is your result?

I have one s2 amongst all my other mining gear.

my bestshare value rarely moves increases compared to my s1's and s3's.

It does have the most recent firmware too.

any ideas why it doesn't move and should I be concerned?

Marginal - not worth it.

Your best share value will only increase when you find a share that was bigger than the last best share.

No.

Is there a forum to discuss selling of hardware?  I hope I'm not breaking rules here, but I have 2x S2's I'd like to sell.  They work great, but I have no electricity available to run them, as I've been upgrading to S4's.  I'd rather not ship them.  I'm willing to drive a certain distance from St. Louis to meet someone halfway.  The distance is negotiable.

If you have a power limit you might want to try what I have done; you can't use the newest firmware as it changes all the directories.  Instead start with 1l1l11ll1ls img:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16075357/bitmain.img.zip

then:

Download Putty if you don't already have it:  http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Default for S2 is:
SSH LOGIN is root
SSH PASSWORD is admin

Step 1 Open Putty and SSH into your Miner by entering its ip and clicking open

Step 2 Click "YES" on the "Security Alert" that pops up

Step 3 Login with

User: root
Password: admin

Step 4 Type "cd /config" without the quotes

Step 5 Type "vi asic-freq.config" without the quotes

Step 6 Hit the i key to edit the file

Step 7 Scroll the the bottom (with the arrow keys)
You should see many different configurations with #before them.  Placing # before a line makes it a comment and not a configuration.  Find the configuration without the #'s.
change it to the following

option 'freq_value'    '0e06'
option 'chip_freq'     '90.62'
option 'timeout'       '50'

Step 8 Hit "esc"

then

while holding the shift key type "zz"

Step 9 (IMPORTANT) type "cp asic-freq.config /etc/asic-freq.config"
IF YOU SKIP THIS STEP ALL SETTINGS WILL BE LOST WHEN YOU POWER CYCLE THE MINER

Step 10
Login to the web interface of your miner and go to the miner config tab;

click "save and apply" this will restart cgminer with the new settings

If you have a Kill-a-watt you can confirm power use.
http://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415641355&sr=8-1&keywords=kill+a+watt

There are many different settings you can use but I have tested this configuration and it is stable.
I would mine normally as long as possible before underclocking as it only offers approx 0.18 watt/GH efficiency gain for approx 500 GH loss.
