Assuming PSU is fine because those AX1200is are rock solid.

1) Try and reflash the S2's SD card with a working image. Better yet, find another 4GB+ SD card to test / replace it with.
2) If you're getting exactly the same effect, as others have said buy a BBB over the counter and drop it in. After that its a lot more complicated to diagnose so lets leave it at that for now.

Let me know how you get on.
Very helpful, thanks dogie (and nice to get official confirmation that the controller is a standard BBB). I'll start troubleshooting with another SD card as suggested.

It's at a remote location (i.e. not at home) so it might take me a while to get access, but I'll report back.
I tried two additional SD Cards, and I'm getting the same symptoms, so I believe it is the BBB controller.

I found these instructions to get the BBB rev C working as an S2 controller. They look a pretty tricky, it's certainly not just a case of plugging in my working SD Card. The other downside is that the BBB rev B or C won't automatically boot to the SD Card, you have to manually push the Boot switch. This really isn't an option for me, as power outages do happen and I need it to automatically recover.

Is it possible to order the original cutdown BBB from Bitmain? Then I can just plug in my SD Card and it will work.

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.

SWEET!!! Actually have had my S2 hashing overnight and whenever we do finally get this upgrade or upgrade kit rather I'll be getting one. I'm sure most with S2's will be getting the upgrade?

it seems like its a physical upgrade and not a firmware upgrade.

Feels like estimated cost around USD300. Not sure would it be worth it for 2TH.

After having no setup issues and running great for the last couple of weeks, I woke up this morning to find my batch 1 AntMiner S2 not hashing, fans going full speed, panel dim and the red light solid. Recalling that others here have had the same issue, I went back and skimmed over the previous posts and found that the likely issue was probably a corrupt SD card. That was indeed the case, as I am now back up and running, and I figure the problem started when a brief power outage occurred here this morning. Thought I would briefly summarize what I did to recover, which may be of special interest to those folks using a Mac to write to their SD cards:

- ran to the store and bought a 4gb Sandisk microSD card. They didn't have any class 10 cards, only class 4, but it seems to work (ordered a couple class 10s from Amazon for backup).
- Downloaded onto my MacBook the latest firmware from the bitmaintech website, as well as the SD card image from https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16075357/bitmain.img.zip (thanks 1l1l11ll1l)
- put the new microSD card in the adapter, shoved it into my MacBook, read through the guide at http://elinux.org/RPi_Easy_SD_Card_Setup, and then ran these commands in Terminal:
cd Desktop (my bitmain.img was on the desktop)
diskutil list (to find the disk name of SD card, mine was disk2, so replace disk2 below with what yours is)
   diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk2
sudo dd bs=1m if=bitmain.img of=/dev/disk2 (this took 30 minutes to complete)
- once SD card was ready, I opened up the AntMiner, pulled out the BeagleBone card, swapped SD cards and reassembled
- powered up, and it started hashing again. Connected to the miner from the browser, uploaded the latest firmware, changed to point to my pool, and everything was golden.

Much thanks to all of previous posters that talked about this issue, as your help got me back up in hours as opposed to days.

I have this EXACT same problem can anyone help me, i've got the the board/sd card, heres my thread, not got a clur ]e about MAC commands only windows.

I have downloaded the image above, i also have the Beagle board with no reset buttons...HELP !!! PLEASE !!!!!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=975195.new#new

What program do i need to write the new image to the SD card ?

This is what is on it now -

HELP !!!

SWEET!!! Actually have had my S2 hashing overnight and whenever we do finally get this upgrade or upgrade kit rather I'll be getting one. I'm sure most with S2's will be getting the upgrade?

It was always going to be a physical upgrade.. between the newer chip and the new chain method it created a window where an upgrade made sense . On the down side if they are still working to squeeze efficiency out of the latest chip it makes me wonder when a new chip will hit the market… the reason I say that is if a newer chip was around the corner, this evolution to the S2 may not make sense .

Possibly removing the https:// from the URL?

I would say, power the S2 off and unplug it from the wall.

Disconnect the PSU.

Weare a protective non-conductive gloves

Then reseat each hashing PCB and the center control PCB.

Power it back on.

If that doesn't work, refresh the firmware (DO NOT CARRY ON THE PREVIOUS SETTING)
