Certain bowlers had very effective results when they are bowling in tandem with specific bowlers and in the same way Jaddu is more effective when he bowl alongside Ashwin, but we know those days are over and even Jaddu doesn't have much left in his Test career. So what we are seeing is the fading of a legendary cricketer's career when it comes to an all-rounder.

I am not sure about Axar but Washington can be a good one to replace Jaddu's all-rounder spot, not that good in his bowling, but he can work and get better and already made some impressive performances with the bat.

It is a huge task to find a replacement for someone like Ashwin; his combo with Jadeja was India's main weapon on turning pitches and the reason they never lost a Test match at home. Let's see how long Sri Lanka can bat to avoid the inevitable.

I expect pitch to be even more assisting in the final session so India is like probability of 80% to win the game. I was expecting this duo to bat much longer than they did yesterday. If they had, then it would be a different score on the scoreboard. This match is slowly going out of the hands of SL team.

Well, it was not a good bat by Team India, but still, who cares? Still, they are in the lead with around 300 runs and have already taken four wickets of the opponent team. They need just 6 more wickets and the deal is finished. They have the entire day to perform this task by tomorrow and that's it. India will have the first lead in this Test series. On the other hand, it seems very hard or challenging for Sri Lanka to make a come back but they can go for draw.

I agree on that about Pant and overall too; India has plenty cricket talent, there should be specialist players for each format.

Big breakthrough from Ravindra Jadeja now. Last recognized pair on the crease. Indian bowlers are doing a good job with patience and calmness; it's going to be a good end for them. Sri Lanka still needed 218 runs to win while India needed only 5 wickets. It was a good contest with India still in control due to poor top-order batting from Sri Lankans in both innings. Atm hosting test match is expensive. Some relief in budgeting will come if tech become dirt cheap like hawk eye etc and tests are actually going for full 5 days.

Robinson took 2 wickets in this match and now Pakistan is in pressure because bowlers are high quality and Pak team have no strength because no batter is looking like suitable for the test cricket and most of the players are picked due to performance in PSL and ODI format which is not good measurement because there should be picking of players due to performance in test matches.

I believe, under Gambhir and Gill's leadership india always play with defensive mindset. The way they go with selecting playing XI also suggest that.

India had a good chance of SL bat out of the game in first inning itself but they lost last 6 wickets with in 120 runs. Similarly in second innings as well, sometimes it felt like they were confused if they are setting up target or biding their time despite knowing that it's a rain effected match. Maybe it was stragic decision or maybe i am dumb and reading too much into it.

Actually, the Sri Lankan team had fallen behind on the day with their poor batting performance in the first innings, and even though they bowled out the Indian team for just 193 runs in the second innings, it didn't do them any good in reducing the run margin. Very bad gameplay by Pakistan so far. When the day started, England won the toss, and they decided to bowl first and that was a great thing to do regarding the conditions and since no one knows the pitch condition better than an English player, but still skills always matter. And Pakistan lost two early 2 wickets of Azan Awais and Shan Masood.

Making only 171 runs is no effort by the Pakistan team and they are bound to lose this match. Only a miracle may save them but those don't happen when the team isn't willing to perform.

I am amazed that the PCB cannot find talent like Waqar, Wasim, or Shoaib. I also do not understand why Rizwan is always selected in the side when he hasn't been getting runs for a long time now. Day 2: If Pakistani bowlers can get quick wickets in the first session, then only there is hope; otherwise, we know the outcome.
