Fakhar is leading the scoreboard and Imam following the "anchoring the inning" thingy. Pakistan looking strong against the Sri Lankan bowlers, nothing surprising TBH.

Both Fakhar and Imam gave Pakistan a great opening score and I am expecting Azam and Sohail to continue piling on the runs. They will probably reach 300 and Sri Lanka might get bowled out within 250(Wild prediction).

Without Malinga in the squad, I don't see any bowler capable of dismantling the Pakistan squad rapidly. Hasaranga and Udana might pack them up, but they will still probably lose. Lets see what happens.

I didn't expect this kind of performance from New SL bowlers. They are doing a tremendous job in restricting Pakistan's scoreboard under 5.75 runs per over. And this new guy Wanindu Hasaranga took both openers wicket, above 6 runs P/O economy rate but it's still terrific as far as Sri Lankans are concerned.

Looks like Pakistan will end up somewhere in the vicinity of 300. To put it honestly, the inexperienced Sri Lankan bowlers had performed better than what was expected from them. Babar Azam looked good and scored at a good pace, but the other batsmen (including both Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail) looked very rusty. But the total should be enough for a win, as the Sri Lankan batting lineup is much more inexperienced when compared to their bowlers. They will find life really tough under the raw pace of Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz. I don't know much about Usman Shinwari, but this will be a good opportunity for him to cement a place in the playing XI.

Speaking of ODI Format, Came across ODI Fab 4 on the Interweb. it gives ans to your question too - Total run during chase- he's beast when chasing the target and crossing Sachin's record is easy peasy as far as Kohli concern.

Guess we need to update our list of Modern Greats in the Shorter format. Never doubted Babar's potential when it comes to Shorter format because he's damn good to watch in the ODI and T-20 but i really want him to succeed in Test Cricket also, otherwise he's another Rohit Sharma in my eyes.

Usman Shinwari destroyed the Sri Lankans and out of the seven batsmen who has come out to bat so far, none has managed double digits. This is going to be a very humiliating defeat for Sri Lanka. Given the presence of less experienced players, no one expected them to stage an upset. But most of their fans would have hoped for a honorable performance. Pakistani fans may be feeling ecstatic right now. They are getting to watch an ODI match after a wait for many years... and what a performance by their team... I just hope that the match gets completed and does not get interrupted by rain. Just five more wickets... and I don't think that SL will get to three digits.

It will be interesting to see the odds for Sri Lanka, for the third ODI. Looks risky to bet for them, but Sri Lanka is a team that has made so many comebacks in the past.

They are struggling on 49/5 . If this is a trend, then Sri Lankans are going to get out under 100 runs.

136/5 looks like Jayasuriya and Shanaka have decided to atleast play 50 overs. But even if they play 50 overs it's certainly impossible to score 170 remaining runs in just a matter of 18 overs without Power hitting and Sri lanka with 5 Wickets down doesn't has that power hitting left. This is the last proper batting pair and if a wicket falls the tail is exposed and rest of the team would fall like a domino

Sri Lanka is turning out to be the most disappointing team in world. Even Bangladesh and Afghanistan and even Nepal have given us some great young talents and hopes for an aspiring future in cricket but sri lanka is turning out to be the worst team in Indian subcontinent.

And Shanaka got out two balls later. Sri Lanka may lose this match to Pakistan, but they can be proud about the performance from these two young players.

Now they need 96 runs from 46 balls, which looks very difficult. Wanindu Hasaranga and Isuru Udana are at the crease, and I don't expect much from these tail end batsmen. Despite the possible win today, Pakistan needs to look in to the spin department. Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan leaked a lot of runs and at no point they looked threatening to the Lankan batsmen.

Really a great fight given by Sri Lanka but in the end Pakistan was a better team. If we leave aside Jayasuria's & Shehan's performance team was really poor in their approach even the bowlers really failed to deliver anything special. It could have been a shameful defeat for Sri Lanka if Shehan & Dhasun wouldn't have gone with that good partnership. Even though it's too early to say but Shehan looks really good batsmen for Sri Lanka got to feel bad for him for missing the century.

IPL is generating a lot of revenue for the BCCI, but I don't think that it is being beneficial for the game of cricket. On the other hand, it is negatively affecting the smaller nations (especially teams such as West Indies) by making their best players unavailable for the national duty. Individual players are benefitting a lot from IPL.

I disagree. Its advantages outweigh its disadvantages. More fame, popularity, entertainment value etc is what IPL provides which is why every cricketer wants to be a part of it these days. For example, Bumrah was discovered through IPL and he is the top ranked bowler today.

For example, players such as Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell make from IPL more than 10 times the salary they receive from the WICB. This is good for them. But at the same time, it requires them to put the IPL duty at a higher preference when compared to the national duty. 

Almost any player would choose to do so and I don't blame them. Do you blame Ronaldo for moving to Juventus or Neymar for moving to PSG? Its the players choice at the end of the day and he/she is free to do as they please.

Actually these two things can't be compared, football has never really been a popular international sport we merely see the world cup and a handful of friendlies when it comes to international matches. Essence of Football lies in club football while Cricket has always been an international sport except for England county cricket world had never heard of country cricket before IPL. I don't feel there is anything wrong in playing for clubs but national duty as a sportsman must come first no matter what.

Pakistan did win but this performance is not acceptable. We have world class bowling attack and when we took them 50-5, there is no way we can let them make 200+. If we had a better opponent like India or Australia, we would have lost this match.

I don't think that you watched the entire match. Sri Lanka got a respectable total because Shehan Jayasuriya and Dasun Shanaka batted extremely well under testing conditions. It is quite demeaning towards the Lankans if you argue that Pakistan allowed them to build a good total. At one stage, Sri Lanka was struggling at 28/5. But then, Usman Shinwari finished his spell and he was replaced by the spinners (Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan). These bowlers were not able to apply the pressure and the Lankan batsmen could build a partnership.

Going from 28 to 205 for the loss of 5 wickets is far from fine. Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan were never great spinners to begin and they clearly need a world class spinner in order to improve their team performance.

From the beginning of the first innings Pakistan was quite strong making good partnership between wickets. When we look at the starting performance of Sri Lanka it wasn't that good as Pakistan. After five wickets Sri Lankan played good making partnership. This happened very late, and by that time the match has almost gone into the hands of Pakistan. I believe there is chance for Sri Lanka, because even with players without much experience it has failed at 67 run difference and three overs left.

What is there to criticize the PCB, the Srilankan board sent a second string team because of fear of any terrorist act because their main players were not interested to take that much risk once again and hence there is nothing wrong with the PCB here and no one will criticize them, if Srilanka is able to defeat Pakistan then it will be a different story.
