I feel the same thing! Honestly, I'm getting hype in this year's world cup because each nation's winning rate is very close to each other. It could be the reigning champ US, the consistent 2nd Spain, the stronger Serbia or Greek Freak's army? Not mentioning the runner ups on the previous cups like Lithuania and France. Oh boy ! This is getting really exciting, I'm pretty sure that even bettors out there are now having a hard time where to place there bets .

The odds may not be on PH but still I'm rooting that they can get a snatch win on their bracket. You may have to take a look at Australia as well, I guess they are a candidate to have a go in this World Cup.

Right. And why be disappointed in something that's so obvious? Just because you're the president of a certain country, you're required to root for your team? If i'm a safe gambler and i'd make bets between these two, i'd have the same say as the ph president.

Guess that's what he likes to express so everyone will just enjoy watching it but will not have a high expectation, he is honest with his words and that's a good leader for me. With this statement, even if the Gilas will loss in all their games, they will not be bash by the people, because they know the real chance of the Gilas Pilipinas, normally those who bash are those who does not really know how strong the opponent of the Gilas in their bracket.

It is not a bad national team but honestly Italy is just way too good right now, after the acropolis tournament (which I guess they lost all) they became one of the favorites, now I know you may think how a nation can become one of the favorites when they lose but reality is that they played against Serbia and Greece which are the teams that is 2nd and 3rd best in this cup, and then Turkey which they lost by just few points, they looked very well coached and had a good strategy planned.

Still, having USA in these type of cups makes it not really worth the wait, if USA doesn't end up losing somehow, this cup will be another boring one, we just gonna watch USA decimate everyone and get another cup, only thing that would be really fun to see USA lose and we can finally have an entertaining cup to see who will actually win it.

However, next time USA comes, I am pretty sure they will come back with a vengeance and all their superstars.

ESPN released an interesting article earlier today, giving a small preview of all 32 teams. Pointing out key players, FIBA team rankings and prediction for each of those teams. They have USA and Spain being semifinalists, Australia playing in the finals and Serbia as a champion. Do you agree?

Honestly, I'm only expecting around @3-@5 but yes, I checked Sportsbet and the line was @13. Also checked Nitrogensports but Moneyline option isn't available right now. I always consider PH as an underdog but with the odds given, I feel it's way too much lol.

Disregarding the ranking, which is Rank 13 Italy to Rank 31 PH, I think the biggest factor why Italy seens as more of a monster now is because of most of their big men do now have a good perimeter shooting skills e.g Danilo Gallinari and Luigi Datome who are both 6'8" forwards. Basketball really changed a lot that even big men now are a threat to the outside.

However, that will not stop me to test this risky bet. As usual, I always love the risky picks and not just because I'm with PH on this match, I also do believe in "upset". It's just 4 games overall for PH on this round so I think I can gamble some with my spare funds.

I agree with you this can happen but still this world cup could be very interesting and we can expect any upset now many countries taking serious interest in this game and spending some good money outside USA we have some very good and talented teams from Europe specially Spain and Serbia these both can create problems for any one even USA.

It is just a prediction but I think it's still USA will prevail as champions for this FIBA competition. I am not counting out Serbia, but it's too hype for them to win it. Anyway, let's see how the tournament goes and any predictions could happen though.

Never mind the upset. Let's call spade a spade. The Philippines is going to lose to Italy 99.9%.

I'm worried on the absence of Lassiter and Wright because the Philippines is now lacking deadly outside gunner that could somehow keep the game close at least but anyway i'll go for +17.5 Philippines.

Spain has a great team and many Skilled players are in the squad. Marc Gasol is said to be the key player for the team.
I don't want to see Spain winning the title. They have won a lot of titles. I hope that Serbia is going to win it. They have a lot of players that deserve to win a World Cup Title.

Today we have a bunch of one-sided matches, which are not even worth betting upon. Seriously there is no chance that Angola could upset Serbia, or Philippines could beat Italy. Theoretically, there is zero chance.

BTW, for Philippines various sites are offering odds ranging from 16 to 20 against Italy. But even these odds look unattractive for me. The worst odds for today's matches belong to Tunisia (41/1), and the most competitive match is Iran vs Puerto Rico (2.2 v 1.73).

And IMO, the most attractive bet is for Russia in their game against Nigeria. As per Bet365, Russia is at 2.55 and Nigeria at 1.57. I can smell a strong chance of a win by Russia.

Philippines is currently +17.5 now against Italy at 1.90 odds, the ML might not be attractive but the plus points is always attractive.

With that line, I think there's still some respect to the Philippine team because if Italy is really a good team, they can easily dominate the Philippines in over 20 points. I can't analyze properly where the value is on this point spread, but if sportsbook offers a live betting for this event, I will surely take a risk in the Philippines + points if I see they can compete in the 1st quarter.
