Maybe 99% of basketball fans and bettors didn't see this one coming. Let's all go back to the drawing board 
My wild guess is either Spain or Australia to be the champ.

During FIBA WC everyone is expecting to see USA on the finals and take the trophy but this time around is different. Their line up should get a boost next WC and I think they really have to take those superstars there and ask them to play for their country.

I'm not sure everyone is expecting that the US will win, we've seen a lot of criticism on the USA team they sent because they are not the best, so I'm sure the smart bettors are betting on the France to win last night.

Now, we are expecting that either Spain or Australia will be champ, this one might be another good example of "not see this coming",...lol.
Why? because I believe it's gonna be the France who will be champ as they beat the favorite team in this tournament.

This is going to be very interesting if France is going to be new World Champion as its not going to happen first time we have many events like this in history where teams came from very low to become champions but I am feeling we are going to have new champion from other Semi Final mean Spain or Australia for me Spain is hot for this year's title race.

No wonder they their odds is not that high because they are one of the best team.
But look what France did to the USA, they beat them, so I don't think they can't do the same to the other teams which are not better than the USA.

Australia won against the USA in an exhibition game but that was not so convincing as it's just a 4 points win and the game was really close, further, if we talk about the Spain, they lost against the US in another exhibition match, so its only France who convincingly beat USA here, that's my thoughts.

After seeing France convincingly beating the US team, I am convinced that they have a big chance to win the Championship, but of course, Argentina will always become a heavy favorite, they have been the next favorite, in the past it's expected that bettors will go for Argentina, but France has some composure and championship-caliber too.

I think this is a very good thing for world basketball because it has been proven that Americans are not untouchable and from other planet.
It is very funny that instead of playing in the grand finale, as everyone announced, we will watch America and Serbia fight for fifth place  
Sometimes it is better to talk less and work harder and fight, as France and Argentina have beautifully shown.

Yeahhh!! I was able to slightly watch their match. I'm just glad that France beat team USA. I mean, they usually win this kind of games because why not? They're from the NBA and it's like the collection of great basketball players all across the globe.

It's expected, it only happens because the US team cannot get the best players in the NBA, this team selection does not have one single superstar here, I hope this is a wake-up call and they should send their best team in the next Olympic.

The US team should realize that other countries have their own basketball program and they need strong players but let's see the NBA superstars seems noncommital anymore on their participation in this kind of events.

We could say that. Maybe they were confident that they could win this or just didn't expect such to happen. Maybe next year, they will provide their strongest players. Who knows, right?

I understand that France is given better odds because they were able to kick the United States out of the tournament. But even then, France with better odds than Spain? That is quite surprising. Remember that Spain is the same team that beat the tournament favorites Serbia. I am OK with the odds for the other two teams, although I think that given their current form Argentina deserves better. IMO, Spain is still miles ahead of the other three teams and I would rate Australia, France and Argentina at the same level.

The only instance when Spain won the world cup was back in 2006 and if they win this time, then it will be their second title. For France, the best performance was the 3rd place finish last time. Australia has never got in to the top 4 and this is the first time. Argentina has one title to their name (the first ever tournament in 1950) and a few 2rd and 4th places recently. BTW, today we have the United States vs Serbia match. None would have expected these two teams to play the 5th-8th placed playoffs.

I agree. Do tell really expect the team that they assembled this year will bring them the trophy? The first lost against Aussies is already a sign that they are not going to win this year.

They also have to realized that most of the FIBA players specially from Europe are playing in the same ground or league as the US team. So they don't have any advantage here and I'm sure finger pointing will start as to who is to blame with the US dismal performance here.

After that outcome, everything will be different for team US this coming Olympics. For sure, pride will be there. It will be enforced by those Superstars who'll be willing to play representing their respective countries. FIBA teams already send their national teams while team US send experimental players. But kidding aside, it should be more seriously taken when Olympics is already at stake. We will expect much stronger players that will lead this tournament.

I guessed we have to blame the NBA teams for USA's defeat against France. Only sending two notable players for their team which is Kemba Walker and Donnovan Mitchell won't be enough against Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier. I know they fought toe-to-toe against this much and only the 4th quarter was the determining factor but that was enough for France to get the job done. Now France has a chance to take home another World Cup trophy, they already proven that they are a dominant team in Football now they can prove that they have a fantastic basketball team as well. This would have a different outcome if the USA only sent their best players but its their mistake thinking that what they have is enough.

The nba nor the US did not "not send their best players".  Players on their own accord decline to play in the tournament to focus on training for the upcoming season

They didn't and now they are paying the price because maybe they are underestimating their opponent, I don't know the team USA management will react on this, maybe next time they will be forcing king James and other stars to represent to get back the title as a champion, it's a lesson learned for them.

No blaming please, because if we will do that, we will not be giving the credit to the France which actually played well against the USA.
As usual, eve in the NBA, Gobert is really impressive defensively and they go own by this man.

I dont think you understand how it works in the US, the management cant make anyone play, many players declined to play in this tournament.  Funny thing is, if US fielded it's best team James wouldn't even start for the team he would come off the bench, imagine that.  This tournament u fortunately is not a priority for these players, winning an nba championship is what they are after, so for the most part it's a bunch of c and d type players.  France is solid but frankie nik, Fournier and the likes are subpar players in the nba at best.  Frankie nik isnt even the best, 2nd best or 3rd best guard on the knicks which is the pits of the nba (I'm a knick fan too)...rudy that dude can play though

I think the Olympic is much more important than the FIBA world, it's a qualifier for the Olympic, The US team organizer will definitely go for quality players as they did in the past, but they cannot obliged these NBA superstars to play, it's still their decision to play or not to play.

It's going to be excited if we see many great NBA players playing in the Olympic will see if this is going to happen.

It has changed because they beat the USA, the attention of the people now are in France, so they are the team to beat now.
Argentina is good as well, both teams are really good team but it's up to us now on what odds we will choose, if we want a bigger odds, we would surely choose the Argentina to win, but my personal view on this, I think France will win and they will take the championship against AUS or ESP.

I like that there are also a lot of fans for Argentina here, Argentina and France are the underrated in this tournament, but they have proven they can beat the favorite teams to win in this competition and one of them deserves to be in the Finals.

Regardless of which team, all I can say is that they are both good teams, so they can give a good fight against Spain.
Australia is also good with but IMO Spain will beat them, and we will see a battle of bigs between Gasol and Gobert in case France will advance.

Before the start of the tournament I checked the team composition, and reviews coming from the experts, and they are in one in saying that this team has little chance to make it to the finals, they have a good start but against the best team they have a hard time, as expected Argentina and Spain is in the spotlight because of the US team lack of real talents to play in this level.

It was impossible but it actually happened! What's going on!? Honestly, I am still having a hard time to sink in my mind that the invincible Dream Team lost. *sigh Well, the good side of this is that we can see a close match between the remaining contenders, there is a thrilling factor unlike the previous world cups where US was automatically expected as a champion lol.

I won my bet on France when they defeated the USA, so I think they can also beat Argentina in the Semi Finals match.
France defeated USA by 10 points, and they are only -5.5 against Argentina, I think this line is a gift, I could take -6.5 for France as I know they can beat Argentina over 10 points.

Right, France has the momentum going into the semis. They were up by ten against the defending champion and I think they can pull through their next opponent in this semis.

My prediction for semi-final matches is victory of Argentina and Australia. 
I watched both Argentina vs Serbia and United States vs France. However France did a great job and defeated the defending champions, United States, I expect they lose to Argentina.
Argentina has won all the previous matches by at least 10 points and I think they will remain undefeated and will qualify for the Final.
Also, Australia will overcome Spain. Spain performance has not been as good as I expected. They had some difficult wins even in the first group stage. Australia will win Spain and will face Argentina at the final.
