End of third quarter mate and the score is 51-55 in favor of Australia, looks like we are on the road for another upset today though there is lot of time left. It is as close as it can be. I have a feeling that this semifinal is going to the overtime (OT). If Spain gets kicked out of the world cup by Australia, then the winner of this edition will be confirmed as a wild card (provided Argentina beats France). Spain still has 1 minute or so to catch up with Australia. Currently Australia is leading by 1 point (70-69). |

I believe Spain hasn't been able to make a big run yet, that's because of the good defense of the Australians, it's 4th quarter already and the Spain are trying to make it a close game, but let's see if they will be able to do that, the way I see it now, it looks like Australia will win this game. What a great match - overtime now. Mills - Australias best player in the tournament - lost one of two fts just before the end, otherwise the match would have ended.

Overtime. Those last call fouls are odd and that was an almost half court shoot by Rubio. Spain did well to reach the lead of Australia, another 5 more minutes of intensity is coming. |

Overtime. Rubio almost made the 3 point shot, but we are in OT now. I like this game, it's so intense, Patty Mills did the right thing to miss the free through, LOL... Spain going to win and cover the spread in this game? What do you think ? One interesting thing, they are both in penalty now as the fouls are carried in the OT. |

As I had predicted the match has gone in to OT.  The momentum seems to be with Spain and Australia has gone in to full defensive mode. Right now it is advantage Spain, and they are leading Australia 78-77. From what I have noticed, whenever the match goes in to OT, the higher ranking side is having more chances of winning. The perfect example is the United States vs Turkey match. Edit: 78-78 now. |

Yeah, most of them are. You saw that Gasol was placed at the last seconds of ball possession to Australia. He took rest for awhile. Oh well, Spain is on momentum, I think they will get it this time. |

Indeed, Gasol showed why he is a champion, he never gave up in the 4th quarter and he made some clutch shots. These 2 NBA veterans are playing with a heart, Australia have its largest lead of 11 points at some point in the regulation but Spain fought hard as they want to win the game and be back in the Finals again. Spain now is the favorite to win in the Finals whoever they will play between the 2 teams (France and Argentina) and the way they showed tonight is very inspiring, their teammates struggled but they continue to inspire them. Ricky Rubio had a double2 with 19 points and 12 assists.
Marc Gasol had 33 points from 11/19 shooting.
We can say that they carried their team to be in the Finals, this two deserve a heroes welcome when they come back home. Sergio Llull did help with the points with 17 points, but he has a very poor shooting percentage, same with Rubio, but Rubio make some good plays, and he is not known to be a good shooter also but a good play maker, that's his role in the NBA as well. |

Another upset was on the plate, but Spain somehow managed to avoid it. The second semifinal will be an interesting one as well. Argentina has been in very good form so far, and I believe that they have a really good chance of upsetting France to qualify for the finals. If that doesn't happen, then we'll be having an all European final between these two neighboring nations, with Spain having the advantage.
