hopefully CTC will now maximize them and not just those old veterans who already been checked by their opponents.

We will see, but I am pretty sure CTC has already learned from what happened in the past, if they still fail then maybe the fans will start looking for a new head coach for the PH team who can help them improve. The last campaign was not really good, so there is a doubt that CTC is not really as great as we expected him to be.

If we decide to bet on this game, we will certainly get high odds since Gilas will surely be a heavy underdog.

He needs to utilize everyone though I'm not questioning his skills and capabilities knowing that he scout those players, but sticking with his usual tactics which already been read by the opponent's coaches, he needs to create new system that may center with those young superstars, their experiences abroad can be utilized here, personally the level of competition that they are into are much harder than PBA allowing them to perform with much better minutes might help them to showcase their skills and talents, let see if CTC will bring the best out from them.

I agree to that kabayan as long as JBL will play the way he always does fans will continue to support the PH nationals, though we might not have that big chance but we never know just like what Pilipino always say "Bilog ang bola" out young guns for me are already ripe KQ, Ramos, Tamayo,  Edu and now Philips was added let see how they'll going to perform playing again with JBL, hopefully CTC will now maximize them and not just those old veterans who already been checked by their opponents.

I am with that, CTC should utilize and make the most use of the young ones. They've got experience already as well and with the veterans, they're just reserves and can still help somehow by giving some help if there's a need for them to take a rest. But I like CTC than Chot when he was the coach of the Gilas, he's only favoring a few of them and not maximizing the usage all of them. I hope that JB will have that kind of play that we've seen with how they've beaten China because it's not always a good day for him as well.

New Zealand and Australia, that's a very tough opponents, let's just hope that Guam will not win as well.

I will trust Gilas to upset the favorite, they may struggle against Australia but I think they have a good shot at winning against New Zealand. This team is good, but I believe they already beat this team before, so it has already happened and I think it can happen again. According to the schedule, Gilas will only face these 2 teams, it would actually be easier for them if they played Guam instead of Australia, along with New Zealand, because most likely they would win at least one of them.

I just don't know for sure if that was in a qualifier match that Gilas beat the Tall Blacks but i know that when they beat them Kai Sotto was playing for Gilas and now in this qualifying matches against New Zealand and Australia, Kai Sotto opted out so i believe that they will be having a hard time dealing against New Zealand as their chance of defeating them is just too low while against Australia i think they have no chance of winning that game at the Boomer's homecourt. If i were to bet for Gilas, i will take the handicap as there is a chance that the favorites won't cover the spread, low risk low return but at least there is a chance that my money will go back to me rather than betting for the ML where there is no chance of winning.

yes they are not part of Asia. as per my research NZ and Australia is part of Oceania, but there are not many good teams in the area, so they are move to the Asian cup..
That's alright at least Gilas will improve as they have the beat they want to beat.

What Yeshkel said there is quite interesting. I thought Gilas stood no chance against NZ, but with his breakdown and the new players on the roster, it changed my mind. Now I think they can beat NZ.. Why? Because we focused on the height and we have added more players who are tall, so now we can compete with the height of other teams that used to dominate us. I cannot wait, I want to see if his prediction is correct.

I trust him by the way, as I always watch his breakdown videos on NBA games.

Nice analysis, if height is the problem then CTC has solved it with the current lineup. But I hope they will not still fully rely on Brownlee, they need to move the ball well and their points should be coming from inside and outside so their opponents will put more effort on defense.

At the same time, Gilas has to guard the outside shooting of these teams because both NZ and Australia are good outside shooters, and they get better when they are more confident. So we have to play physical and bring the PBA style, but avoid committing too many fouls.

We are no longer have that disadvantage our young superstars are all have decent height that also can move with the ball, unlike before which being abused by those taller opponents, now, we have mostly got 6'5 who can play with the ball that height can cater defense just looking to see how they'll gonna execute all those plays that they've made during the practice, there's some video clips showing JDGL playing with Phillips on their practice game, they've got good chemistries hopefully CTC will give them decent minutes and not rely everything with JBL.

Yup, we may have the height now but just like what Yeshkel said, the chemistry and the skills of the Gilas players is a bit inferior to that of New Zealand though i could say that we could compete and make the game as close as possible. The rotation will help him a lot if there are players who can create space for him, I mean, players that will play with him inside the court should create impact or pressure for the defense not just to focus alone with JBL, with everyone threatening the offense opponents will be having a hard time and JBL can penetrate whenever the defense collapse, let see if how the PH nationals will play their system good luck in advance mga kabayan!
