Not just you, everyone thought the same. I think your description is on point here. Ancelotti already announced that Real Madrid would be his last club. When we take that into consideration it also seems less likely that he wants to revolutionize many things and integrate a ton of new players in a short amount of time. He understands the current squad, knows their strengths and weaknesses and makes slight changes here and there. Ultimately he is still working with what has proven to be successful in the past: Kroos and Modric, then Benzema and Vinicius Junior is getting better and better. He integrated a couple of new names during the last season, but it's not like the whole squad was substituted because Ancelotti thought they were all too old.
