Yes, Atletico Madrid has great potential to interfere with Real Madrid's chances of defending the title.  My prediction this season is that the La Liga title race will be competitive again, even though many people still favor El Real.

It's still too early to say who can compete with Real Madrid in La Liga. Atlético start the last season also not bad, but then even Barcelona, which had a very difficult season, managed to get ahead them. So far, Real Madrid looks like the favorite for me, and in order not to get too far ahead, let's look at Saturday's match against Celta. I think, Real Madrid coach is working on that to ensure they have potential extra players that can handle any position in case any of their players have injury that will not allow them to play next match. With time, Real Madrid will have many players that can demonstrate like Benzema in the team soon, because Benzema can go for injury at anytime or decide to leave the team at anytime so that it will not reduce the team performance. I don't think, Real Madrid will loose their next match without Benzema, because their coach has prepared some players that can handle his position very well until he recover from the injury in case such happy.

Lewandowski is a goal machine for the Barcelona squad, he has extraordinary talent and instinct when compared to other strikers in La Liga. he has the potential to score a lot of goals in the next matches, so it's no wonder if Lewandowski is predicted to be the top scorer this season in La Liga.
Currently Lewandowski's performance has improved quite well, in his last two matches he scored four goals and made it the top scorer, competing with Borja Iglesias who plays for Real Betis.
As for other candidates who can follow Lewan and Borja's scores, none other than Karim Benzema, although he only scored three goals, but in the next match he can score even more goals, the competition between Lewandowski and Benzema has just begun.

@Sterbens both Halland and Mbappe were unavailable and buying an unknown player didn’t make sense to them, further I wouldn’t be surprised if they spend heavily in the next summer transfer window because I’m sure that they’re saving their funds to target quality player’s next season.

Agree with what you are saying at the moment because it is true that Betis' chances at the moment even though in the previous few games they were good but facing Madrid is definitely one of the different things and they draw indeed still have a chance but it is small because indeed the biggest chance at the moment is Madrid winning.
It's hard to get rid of the fact that Madrid are far superior to Betis at the moment.

They both have won the last three games in Spanish La Liga. Also last two games at home between this sides has seen them ending a full time draw. It's a fifty/ fifty chance, games like this don't really produce much goals, I also think Real Madrid will rest some top players with the Champions League kicking off next week, they will have them first game at Scotland playing Celtic.
 
They're are likely to bench some of their starters cause they will want to defend the Champions League by winning thier first game in the group stage. My prediction would be 20minutes to 30minutes draw as no goal will be scored within that interval.
