A very exciting match took place in the Copa del Rey final last night between Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad. Because in this match,, both teams really showed an extraordinary performance. So that's why this match had to go to a penalty shootout, because both teams really played very well. But unfortunately, in this match, Atletico Madrid failed to get their first trophy of the season. Because in the penalty shootout,, Sociedad managed to win it and finally the trophy clearly fell to Sociedad.

So yes,, although initially I hoped Atletico Madrid would win, but I will still give very big appreciation to Sociedad. Because in this match they really fought very well. I wont talk down on Atletico Madrid because the players are yet to recover from the Champions League game against Barcelona. It is not easy playing in so many competitions at the same time, some teams play a game every 3 days. Although, my prayers was for them win but as we all know football is unpredictable. Real Sociedad fought had today and they got the victory. Once it gets to penalty any team can win. Penalty kick is a game of luck.

Playing in so many competitions is not an excuse man, because that is what all top teams are used to, so it's nothing new to this atletico madrid team, though I was actually disappointed that they lost this trophy that was on sight, because real sociedad wasn't that too formidable like Barcelona or real madrid, so it's actually going to be heartbreaking to their faithful fans home and abroad.

Diego Simeone have manage to lead the club from 2011 and what's the evidence? He lost big games and also been defeated on multiple grand finals. Football is very unfair to Diego Simeone because he has this mentality of winning but his players are the ones relenting in big games. I do read a lot of comments about Atletico De Madrid knocking out big fierce oppositions but when it's time to lift a trophy, they missed out.

On the other hand, we congratulate Real sociedad on winning the Copa del Rey cup last night and this is happening because Real sociedad players were determined and they won the trophy. The Copa del Rey finale was just amazing! I had a pity on Atletico Madrid though... They wasted some unbelievable chances which could have helped them finish it before penalties. A deserved trophy for Real Sociedad too of course. Their GK was great!

I might agree with you about the poor performance of Atletico Madrid but I don't buy it when you said they could allowed Barcelona to make their way to the finals, I think that's emotional speaking through you and that's far from what I think of football, both teams went into a match, we should expect either teams to win or draw, if any of them git lucky and win that's their luck and even though they later lose to unsuspecting team that's their business, football is like that, we should not expect that Atletico will just relax to allow Barcelona win them, even though Atletico Madrid don't cross the semi final stage, they were able ro get to that stage and I think it is their concern.

Very funny dear, they deprived Barcelona the finals and went on to lose the trophy to Real Sociedad. If Barcelona was in their position they would've taken that finals seriously and won it, that would've been Barcelona chance to win a double, it makes me wonder if Atletico Madrid were just lucky to defeat Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid use to be a mediocre team in fact even till now because a match you will expect them to win that is the one they will not... And the one you don't expect them to win that is the one they are going to win so they very mediocre. I really expected Atletico Madrid to win the match they are my favorite and I bet on them to win the match, but that did not happen, Real Sociedad played very well they were very determined to win the match and they put in more effort to make sure they win and they did, in the penalty the two first players that I was thinking and expecting them to score didn’t they missed it for Atletico Madrid and that was when I knew they have lost the trophy, i really wanted Atletico Madrid to lift the trophy because of Lookman who is my country man, I love him so much and I also want the best for him, right now the only trophy that they can expect to win is the Champions League title, which to me it is impossible for them to lift it with this kind of performance.

Same here, I expected Atletico Madrid to win the game but they failed. In the second half of the legal time they dominated the game but wasn't able to add more goals unfortunately. In the extra time, Real Sociedad didn't let them either and they stood good honestly. By penalties, Atletico Madrid was totally out... This should be a lesson for them because facing their competitors in Champions League will have a huge cost when you fail penalties that way.

If Atletico Madrid hires a coach that’s not to the standard of El Cholo and gives him the kind of backing they are giving to El Cholo, they are going to achieve more than just finishing in the top 4 every season. A club that’s the size of Atletico Madrid should be aiming for more than just finishing in the top 4 every season. They are buying players, they pay well and they currently have the highest paid coach and goal keeper in Europe in their club. They have the infrastructure, the fan base everything that the club need to become one of the driving forces in Spanish football. Finishing in top 4 for a club the size of ATM is nothing special in Spanish football. El Cholo should just resign if he doesn’t win any trophy this season.

Yes, it is very sad for Barcelona's statement because a team like Atletico Madrid defeated a strong team like Barcelona and drove them out of the Champions League. I thought Real Madrid and Barcelona have very similar total won titles in Copa del Rey but the fact is very different with 12 more titles for Barcelona. In recent seasons, Real Sociedad and Real Betis are two underdogs in La Liga, together with Villareal. These three clubs are replacing clubs like Sevilla and Valencia as challengers for top four in La Liga.
