You must be very careful while trading on exchanges as some exchanges are created only to scam traders and investors. It is better to trade on reputed exchanges like binance, kucoin, coinbase, bittrex etc. You must research before trading on any exchange.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Hey.
Is it safe to exchange big amounts on non-custodial exchangers like changelly or shapeshift, or are they designed for small transactions?
I'm a newbie and I want to know if it's safe. Also, I want to know if it's safe to exchange crypto on classical exchanges like binance.
Reading reviews about the particular exchange can help you to decide whether its safe or not.

I dont have experience with the exchanges you mention but If I were you its better to entrust your funds in reputed exchanges to make sure your money is safe.

if you want to make large exchanges, I suggest you use trusted exchanges such as Binance or KuCoin, they have security stability, some of the functions they offer are very convenient and easy to use. I don't think the cost is too expensive, because the most important thing is security and comfort in large exchange transactions.

Honestly it is not safe. And nothing is safe here in crypto, we already knew that from the start. But it's up to you, you already know what you are doing and you already have a reseach, why not? There is no harm in trying. But if you are asking my opinion it is safe you are going to exchange small amount only and make another transactions if needed.

You should do the transaction in stages. Quite risky if you directly trade in large numbers on an exchange that is not compatible. For better and safer service, my advice is to use another, more trusted exchange, like the advice of other members.
Good advice, you can never know what could go wrong (hack, human error).

Binance was hacked recently, so much for security. Better do more smaller transfers and exchanges than one big.

So many answers.
But it depends on the country of residence, respectively, the size of the "big amounts" is different, the crypto infrastructure is different. In my country, I would not be afraid to use exchangers worth up to 50K$ in equivalent. I can use the exchange, but it is an automatic transparency for government agencies. But I do not have such a problem due to the lack of large amounts Grin

I do not know because I have never exchanged on a large scale, the largest exchange I have ever done was around $ 900 and that too I did in binance, maybe if you want to exchange large amounts it is highly recommended to use a third party.

Depends on what exchange you will using. We should not using not reliable exchange for huge amount.
I think you will be ok if you using binance because they already have many crypto users on their exchange.

Just like most people have suggested, exchanging on top or bigger exchanges like Binance is good not just for big amounts but also for smaller amounts. The good thing is, you will be sure your funds are secured while the customer service is at your disposal should any issue arise. Furthermore, although KYC exists, you can still exchange and withdraw about 2btc daily on exhanges like Binance. So you can give it a shot while being relaxed.

maybe it's safe if the exchange you use is a trusted exchange, I mean like binance, bittmex or Kucoin. but you also have to always be careful before doing that especially if you want to make exchanges in large amounts because scamers always target large assets

Although the exchange you mention is the trusted exchanges, I think it is not good if you use big amounts to trade because it is too risky. You don't want to see if your account or the exchanges get hacked, and that is why I think you should use the money you can afford. But that will be different if you have a very large amount of money and you can accept the risk.

It's better to use binance for exchange a big amount of crypto. Binance now top one exchange, and safer to use it instead of others.

For large amount of money, you should use the exchanges with higher trading volume, so Binance or other top exchanges is the right choice. Changelly or Shapeshift, can instant convert your coins, but with the limit amount because of their liquidity.

It is very okay to exchange a very big amount to a good and legit exchange.
All you need to do is to make sure that you are on a link which is real.
Your account is safe and no one has access on it except you.

Well, any large transaction may not be reliable. I prefer to make several transactions so as not to make a mistake. And we know how people lose $ 300,000 on transaction errors.

if you want to trade on a large scale, never do that on only one exchange and you better do it on several other exchanges. to avoid the risk I always use 2 exchanges when I want to make transactions with large scale.
#Binance - 50%
and
#Bitmex - 50%

this is my way when I want to make transactions on a large scale.

Depending on where to exchange a large amount of money, personally I would recommend exchanging cryptocurrency parts and preferably for different bank cards, so much safer

For big amounts you need big volumes and liquidity too otherwise you will not get the price you want as you will be filling up smaller and cheaper buy orders as well, so either you should exchange at top volume exchange or find a direct customer who purchase all your portfolio at one decided price.

I don't use shapeshift so can't tell anything about them. I use Changelly regularly and it seems to be good for me every time I used it. However, my maximum trade value in one single transaction was 16 ETH, and it went fine. I hear some questions about this exchange too but I think it is safe for medium amount. If you need to trade a large amount like over 50 ETH, better use Binance or Huobi.
