giving up on crunch-hard, any coins for sale here?
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I don't believe there are any.

Here's the Block Explorer compiled from the source in the OP.

http://ngc.exploreblocks.com:2764/chain/Nigeriacoin

Just a huge block 0 and nothing afterwards.

Crunch Harder apparently put up a mock website to 'teach miners a lesson.'

Look at his home page where he posted as a 'Nigerian Prince.' He also posted up pictures of a big block of feces in this thread and attempted to sell coins he knows won't work.

I'm surprised miners aren't a bit more upset. Generally I get complaints from people if their email verification takes 30 seconds instead of 15.  Grin

Glad to see miners are becoming a forgiving group that enjoy losing money and being made fun of.

Sumpool appears to be on the correct fork at least. The one that has no blocks and no miners  Grin

I spoke to the devs, the block explorer is broken - the BC is growing normally without forks.  Crunchharder is running on the right chain and paying out.  So no lesson to be learnt here aside from:

a) Regain your sense of humour - the 1.7Bn coins for sale was clearly a joke

b) It is the very first alt forked from 0.9 and it had a far better launch than 99% of any of the recent coin launches so as amusing as the premise may be it has far better promise than anything recent!

c)I just downloaded a local wallet and sync'd the blockchain and it shows the same number of blocks as crunchharder.

The Linux source on the Github is broke?

So where did Crunch Harder get his code from? It's a simple question and I've asked it a few times.

As to the 'sense of humor' this isn't the place for it. There's only one pool 'functioning' and the guy made his page into a 'Nigerian Scam' parody. WTF is he supporting the coin for if he thinks it's a scam?

Seriously, I like 'humor' as much as the next guy, but not when 35GHZ of mining power is very likely being wasted and the Linux source is screwed up.

Additional Info:

I compiled the Linux source from here: https://github.com/nigeriacoin

./autogen.sh
./configure
make

I created an alternative Block Explorer: http://ngc.exploreblocks.com:2764/chain/Nigeriacoin

Now both Block Explorers are 'broke.'

Cool, where did they get the source code from?

It's a simple question. The source code listed in the OP and on Github does not work.

I posted this concern probably 12 hours ago and nobody has answered it.

From github!  I don't know why it isn't working for you.  I just compiled it on my miner myself and all working fine....

You just need to do the below in the directory that you cloned into (not inside the src folder)
Code:
./autogen.sh
./configure
make

If you're using the source from Github you're wasting your time.

It will compile okay, but both Block Explorers compiled from the source show this: http://ngc.exploreblocks.com:2764/chain/Nigeriacoin

That shows the pre-mine of 44,000,028,000 NGC.

Worse, you won't get a straight answer from anyone in this thread.

Oh, when you say it's fine...you actually mean there's new source code there. https://github.com/nigeriacoin/nigeriacoin/commit/97f6883ae64835a5fa4fbc812ec00eaea34acc55

So the commit from six hours ago fixed the issues I addressed in this thread? Strange nobody has been willing to mention it.

The premine of 3% dev and 47% for CDS which is going to be destroyed systematically is listed in the OP.  Yes, it seems there's some issue with bitcoin-abe working with this latest version of 0.9.0 Bitcoin Core fork.  The transactions and blocks are all being pulled into the database but the Python frontend seems to only display the first block.  We are looking into the issue.  The rest of the sources work, not sure where you're getting stuck?

This still doesn't explain why one pool had the right code from the beginning.

Imagine all those mining pool operators who keep getting wrong code on launch. They spend HOURS setting up their pools and then they're forced to look bad when things go wrong.

Plus the poor miners who waste time and hash and don't get coins! It makes everyone look bad.
