Since Piggy hasn't been online for 1.5 months and Maggiordomo is offline for 2.5 days, I'll make my own notification service. If the kids allow me today, that is.

Instead of my usual, which is starting at topic for testing in Archival, I'll start one here. Feel free to join the testing and make suggestions.
Notifications are not case-sensitive ("loycev" works as well as "LoyceV").

Current plans:

I can set up something similar to LoyceV's: Follow users on Bitcointalk.org (posts and/or topics), but so far that doesn't have a lot of users.
It's less easy to follow than PMs, but doesn't give PM-spam for active users and you could use a Browser plugin such as check4change for it to get notifications.

Once I have it working, it'll be easy to expand with keywords (say: "Bitcoin") and a blacklist (we all know who I'm talking about) of users to ignore.

Limitations

• I scrape each topic title only once (it's not the post title). If the topic title changes, it won't change in the Notifications.
• Updates aren't realtime. Currently, there are 5 2 updates per hour. This may change in the future (depending on the required processing power).
• Only notifications from the past 7 days are shown. Older notifications will be removed.
• If there's a "$" in your username, I'll remove it from your name before searching for matches (this is why).

I still haven't found a reliable VPS, and my old netbook becomes more and more CPU-limited from the things I make it do I don't want to overspend on it, because I want to use it for many years, but I also don't want one that's not reliable. So basically I just need the time to sort it out.
I'd love to get a reliable VPS though, it makes my life so much easier. I'm currently uploading around 800,000 files per week.

It's on my TODO list, but indeed, "aliases" is a better word than "keywords" so I've replaced the word.

I'm using shared (cPanel) hosting, and unfortunately, it creates "normal" webbrowser logs. I don't really care about it, and I don't intent to share it with anyone, but unfortunately I don't think I can disable it until I get a VPS.
Update: images still go through Bitcointalk image proxy (preventing "tracking pixels").

Retroactive!
I'm now showing notifications for all posts starting 6 hours before Maggiordomo went offline.
I'll wipe notifications older than 7 days, so that gives you a few days to subscribe to my new bot to catch up on anything you missed the past days.
My Notification-bot is now running every 5 minutes. It's highly experimental and far from finished, but should work Enjoy!

I think a link and the name of the author would be enough.  The title of the thread would be nice as well.  I see you're planning to purge notifications older than 7 days, but if it gets a lot of subscribers it might use up more disk space and bandwidth than want.

The first few lines of the post are quite unnecessary.  You need to click the link to read the whole post anyway, so there's really no point in that.

I scrape this topic for every update. By the time the topic gets too long to quickly scrape, I'll separate the Notification update from the user list update. My To-do keeps growing.

Removing your post would end your updates.

Well, this is working quite well already

I'm just having one problem (but others generally shouldn't have it) : since I have a weird and very short pseudo, my notification page is full of posts not related to me, because they contain a crypto address or image address with "f2b" in it. TBH I don't really care but maybe you could add a fix to you To-Do list.

Also, I found the post 53343027 in my notification page, and I don't find any occurence of "f2b" in its code, that's weird.
Edit: found out. I think it is because when parsing, the "/" in the image URL became "%2F" or something like that, so "/2b" becae "%2F2b"
Edit 2: Even if I don't think that's a big problem for most users (who have normal names), it may cause your whole thing to be broken with pseudonyms with special characters. Edit 3: In fact, not. Or I don't know.

You can have your bot monitor https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm and have users send a PM with subscription requests instead of posting here. When your bot reads a message, it can add a label and remove the inbox label, so it knows which messages it has read.

It would also be much more resource efficient to store your data in a database rather than a bunch of files. This will also make it easier to locate/query information when you are looking for something. The above referenced 'cloud' providers also often offer 'always free' database hosting.

I think a workaround is on my TODO already: once I'm done, you can subscribe to quotes only, and not to mentions. Then you add "@F2b" as an alias. That means you can only be summoned by adding an @.

That's actually because it's not finished yet: I now simply search the raw post for any occurrence of the username. Interpreting quotes is more work, but once that's done, it shouldn't show 2nd (or 8th!) generation quotes anymore.

Thanks Loycev, I subscribed and is already working. Great that I can see older notifications that Maggiordomo missed already.

Finally, I can again easily find all the activities I am involved in. There are no notifications but there is no problem to check the website when needed.

If you finish your work and add all these additional options it will be a very powerful tool for the Bitcointalk forum. Great work!

Probably the first one. I'm going to visit each thread anyway to see the context that the post has been made in. It also lets me see clearly which ones I've looked at because the post number changes after I've followed the hyperlink.

The second one causes the page to become very cluttered, especially when I keep getting tagged in long posts like the DT1 trust updates, a bunch of top merit receivers and top merit senders updates, and stuff like that. I agree with DireWolfM14 that the third option is pointless - it's the worst of both options. You can't read the whole post on your site so you are going to have to click on it anyway, and it clutters up the page. Everyone copes fine with the merit page just being a link to posts, no reason yours couldn't be the same.

Oldest posts first (like the forum). I've added it to my TODO, I think I'll make it an option.

Please do. Coz when the list will be too long then users will need to keep scrolling to find the latest mention/quotes which will be not much user friendly I guess. However if you can have a button or something to toggle ascending and descending then it will be the best one. I know some user will like the way it is now.

I am still awaiting for the other questions answer: Do you keep the IP log of the visitors.

Looking great.  I must admit, I like this better than Maggiordomo's PM notifications.  Less clutter in my PM inbox is much appreciated.  I have the results being displayed as a list, newest message first, which I find to be very convenient and organized.  Thank you for including the thread title, that's adds to the convenience.

Just edited my original post. Applying the latest codes now.

The first one worked well but this one's much better. The order is much needed as it is an unnecessary hassle to scroll down a long list of old notifications just to get informed if a new one has arrived. And the codes oldestfirst and newestfirst are way much clearer than ascending and descending.

Finally, this iamagirl option is novel, although a guy member doesn't have to indicate no to have him addressed as he since the default is patriarchal. Nice addition!

It's known I now do a very dumb case insensitive search on the raw HTML from each post. I need more time to improve this.
My first priority was to get this working, that's why I published it for testing from the moment I decided to make this (just 2 days ago).
For "LoyceV", it's okay to search for anything. For "asu", it's going to have to change to ignore "asu" as part of a bigger word.

2. The full post? That's what I'm currently showing (kinda like WallObserver.tk)
3. Just a small part of each post? Maggiordomo did that, but it often showed the wrong part and it'll can mess up the layout.

Regarding the first one, a link is probably enough since we would surely be visiting the topic once the notification triggers no matter what. So, quoting the whole post will be another nightmare in that particular notification webpage as o_e_l_e_o pointed out. Regarding the second and third one, it is more than enough to show a gist of the post just like what maggiordomo has been performing for all these days if the second idea is taken into consideration. Some people would post a longer reply for our particular post and that would again make the notification webpage difficult to read.

I forgot to add it to the OP: notifications older than 7 days are removed. I might make this customizable later, but only if I can make it less resource-intensive first.

Nope, something's was broken It works for other users though.
It's fixed:
It turns out your "$" turns into "&#036;" in quotes, but not when you're mentioned. As a workaround, I now remove the "$" before searching for matches.Weird characters in usernames have always been difficult to deal with, and there are much weirder ones than "$" so this is not a permanent fix.

Just changed the preferences to publish only links. I should wait for my next notification to occur and the 7 days removal is really good thing which doesn't make the page to look cluttered.

Because there is a quote of yours in the middle of the post. I believe Loyce only checks if your name is in there somewhere. I also saw one of these on my page.

He quotes a post that has your quote. I still do only a "dumb" search, including the full quote depth. And because of my server problems I haven't had the time to improve my notifications. Getting everything back online still has priority.

I noticed there are some "empty posts" at the bottom of the Notification page. I think this is caused by incorrect timestamps after moving servers. I'm hoping this will correct itself in a few days.

I was wondering if your bot also looked for the user ID as well as the username. (I check the OP, it is seams that it is not yet the case).

Con: If a typo or missing space, it will not be included in the notifications.

When I have the time, I'll create something to classify all posts in a requested topic as "unedited", "deleted and archived", "edited within 10 minutes" or "edited after 10 minutes". But that will only be for one topic at a time, you can't easily check all posts.

I don't offer this, but why don't you use the Watchlist? I used "Show new replies to your posts" for years, until I read this post (judging by my sent Merit I read it in November 2018):

I don't understand why anyone would not use the watchlist. You can configure the watchlist to be exactly the same as "show new replies to your posts" by configuring your posts to be auto-watched and adding your posted-in topics to your watchlist. After this is done, you can unwatch topics that you don't want to see.

It is likely the trick only works correctly for thread observations, for post observations, there are something wrong or the window (I am not sure but I have an assumption that it is updated for each 7 days like what we have with merit data dumps - follow it up next 7 days so we will have an answer) to update it is too long, that leads to delay in updates and incorrect results.

Personally, the trick is good for thread observations.
I forgot that I asked the same thing months ago. Hehe.

I've finally fixed this for you. Sorry it took me this long to realize the fix was as simple as adding "-w" to my search. Your short name will no longer match longer words that include it.

Despite other alternatives, i'm still using this service since about year since first registered, right before the Pandemic 
I updated my post as well to keep using it for the future.
