I've noticed some strange activity going on poker free rolls. Normally, with 9 levels of late registration, it takes more than an hour until the registration is closed. But sometimes, and I'll show an example below, it takes only 10-20 minutes for the registration to stop. The reason for that is that it stops when only 8 players remain, and I think some people have been abusing this pattern. 10 or more co-conspirators(or just alts of the same person) lose quickly all-ins to each other, so that:
1. One of them had a lot of chips;
2. Late reg. stopped, and thus a prize or two(or even all of them) was guaranteed to take.

Look at the yesterday's free roll, late reg. for which was closed in less than 12 minutes:

I'm not saying all of the above users are cheaters. No. Most likely, there are some legit players among them. But I think something looks fishy here, and it needs investigation.

... just wanted to throw SwC out there because ... 1. supports bitcoin, 2. doesn't do KYC, and 3. doesn't ban any jurisdictions, that sounds pretty great! ...

I fully agree and have another poker room which matches all the criteria mentioned above, this is: https://blockchain.poker/

It is very easy to set up a private tournament there, is fully anonymous and supports cryptocurrencies.

I have played there already multiple times and never had any problems with withdrawals or the gameplay itself.

Literally, in a few clicks, I was able to set up a private tournament there.

https://blockchain.poker/

There is a fee of 10$ for a private tournament on this website, but really even a child would be able to set up one there.

Here the summary page with created by me tournament, of course, one can adjust any settings, how many chips, minutes, people, etc.

If this will be possible to set up this tournament somewhere else (not on Sportsbet), where I will be eligible to play, then you can count me in too, of course.

i looked into it. they force you to add a guarantee and make a deposit to cover the guarantee. in fact, it seems like the site pockets the deposit entirely.

a 0.001 BTC buy-in tournament requires a 0.01 BTC deposit (or fee!?) to create the tournament!

there's no reason to do that when we have better options like SwC. it sounds like we'll be sticking with sportsbet for the next tourney, but if we are gonna try another site, my vote is for SwC.

Of course, I am very surprised to see all these fees and additional costs because in the creation process they mention only 10$ as a total cost.

Thank you very much that you looked into it correctly and double-checked everything, I also think that SwC would be the best choice now.

As I mentioned, OP can consider me as one of the participants if this tournament takes place elsewhere, as at Sportsbet.

if we wanna play on the 16th, we should get the game set up.

@efialtis, with no new input in the last few days, maybe you should just decide and contact sportsbet. the poll options are tied and nobody said either date was impossible.....

At what stage do you exactly need KYC on Sportsbet? I registered a few weeks ago, placed some bets and played some poker. I didn't need it so far, but I also didn't cash out yet. Any information on that topic would be great. I would also prefer playing without KYC.

After reading 1miaus Thread concerning KYC I honestly don't want to share my private information with several websites anymore.  Wink

They have the right to kyc you, but it's not mandatory. From my experience, as long as you lose, you won't get kyc'ed. When you start winning and make regular big-ish withdrawals, you are likely to get kyc'ed. And if something looks suspicious with your account, then you are surely getting x-rayed Grin

there is no perfect answer for this cause when the site has it in Toc it means it can happen anytime
for poker with tiny amounts I really doubt they will apply KYC unless maybe suspecting multi accounting to cheat the freerolls
the sports part is tricky cause overall sites tend to limit and KYC winners , some people had like half a coin with sportsbet and they were never asked for KYC but it can happen anytime

I guess the best answer is to join only when you can do the KYC

I think you're on restricted area so you can't access it without using a VPN provider. I can use VPN or not on my area and no problems with it, if you can't access without using VPN then always use VPN, it's that simple.

I think you can try SwC or Acewins they are pretty easy to set an account. I am new to SwC but I am loving the simplicity of it there are active players there but on Acewins it isn't that much yet and games are only set daily or by gone consensus on their telegram group on whose gonna play any time. I think you can try them.

Try using this one https://sportsbet8.io/ or https://sportsbet6.io/tr. I also can't access the main link sportsbet.io without using vpn but i found another link which is that link and it works.

*Already asked the support about these 2 sites and it's confirmed that both link are also sportsbet.io link or you can try ask it on support.

I want to ask if any decisions regarding the place where this private tournament will take place were already made? Is Sportsbet the final place for the tournament on 16th?

If nothing is decided already, then I think it would be good to open a poll where all interested members could vote on Sportsbet, CsW or any other poker room which allows private tournaments.

If there is a poker room that is accessible to all members and without KYC, like CsW it should be no brainer, I think, but voting is also a way to go.

There is not much time left if we want to play on the 16th, so we need to hurry up.

i think the consensus = sportsbet for the next tournament. maybe another site (SwC please?) for the one after that.

i've PMed @efialtis. hopefully we can get a game set up in the lobby soon so everyone is on the same page. at this point, the 23rd is most likely.

Efialtis was banned for 7 days. Currently he cannot answer PMs here in the forum. His last post is from 02/10. Therefore I think from 02/17 or 02/18 he can answers PMs again. Unfortunately I don't know any more and can't say if the tournament will take place on 02/16 or not.  Undecided

That's sad to know for efialtis but how com he get a temp ban? How did you know about this, do you know him personally? I can't find a thread on Meta about his ban but if that's the case I think we should wait and let's get it ready by the 23rd instead since most are in consensus to that as well.

How about Acewins, have you tried the site yet? There haven't that much of players but they have daily games Las Vegas time.

Unfortunately, I don't know the reason and I don't know him personally, but tyKiwanuka knows him. He has written about efialtis in the german local board and that he is not available for 7 days, because of the ban. That's all I know.  Smiley

ouch, that's too bad.

we're obviously not playing on the 16th now. what do you guys think, should i go ahead and set up a game for the 23rd? i've been in contact with a rep at SwC. they can set something up for us. i can add a couple mBTC to the prize pool to make things a little more interesting.

or should we wait to hear back from @efialtis next week?

As mentioned by CoinEraser, efialtis is currently banned from posting in bitcointalk due to PM ad spam. He is often PMing users and companies in here to offer his services. Why he got a 7 day ban for that is a bit strange, but there were other users experiencing the same. So no reason to worry.

He told me to inform you guys, that there will be no Poker tournament this coming Sunday - if there will be a tournament on 23rd, I don't know. I think he will make a post here soon, once his ban has expired. He is sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I'd be fine with trying out SWC just to be sure we have a tourney and everyone gets more than a week to get prepped. I'll just have to see if i can access it through mobile.
This might be useful anyways for everyone who couldn't join or didn't want to kyc.
Mind you it's my last day at my current job so i could likely use the wifi and my laptop lol.
