Number gods be kind!
what was your bestshare with your rental on nicehash?

"bestshare": 593966221451.954,

Still long way out yet.

I don't rent on Nicehash I use MRR I don't like the nicehash market but then again sometimes you end up with NH rentals over at MMR not sure how people get away with listing then renting from NH and pointing it to MRR seem to be mostly the large rentals 1-50ph actually come from NH.

in my experience NICEHASH is cheaper than MRR, but I haven't compared the two in a long time.
And I feel NICEHASH is easier to trade, easier to rent. better handling.

what do you think?

Just a heads up solochance works again when you enter your CK address.

what is solochance?

It's a website that tells you the probability of finding a block when solo mining. You can either put the hashes per second you have or just paste any ckpool url and it will tell you the numbers.

Oh nice! I think I remember the math i did once. I think it was like 2 years or something lol which would still be an amazing win even paying the electric up front. I want so bad to hit a block. I think it would be one of the coolest feelings in the world. Lol

Blockparty Run 21 is in planing
6-7 seats are free at the moment

##############################

Hello all,

let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower.

As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction.

~15-18 users for each 0.01 BTC can participate. A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small.
If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited.
Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool.
The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link.
Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is.

If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants.

Lets go and let us find a block

In the past we had found 9 blocks --> 188 BTC!
Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217

Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address 3KWE8HcunSfvfNBy3CdXZdQ2HyvierBxeT and post their participation with the following template:

Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.

Again two people have sent coins although they had no space. The effort to manage this increases and increases.
FROM NOW I CONSIDER EVERY TX SENT WITHOUT HAVING A PLACE AS MY PERSONAL DONATION.
If you are unsure, ask first!

To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently.
In the new year there are reservations possible for people who pay for 2, 5, 10, ... block party runs in front.
If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place.

Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20.
If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17.
This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs.

If we should not create at the end 2022 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2022 all payments are used around longer to run.

Please send reservation amounts only when you read an OK from me!

Of course there is no guarantee that we will find a block, but it would be mega if we repeat the runs until we find one!

Lets go and let us find a block

https://i.ibb.co/pKYM15g/image.png

A full quote is not necessary  Wink

We are currently planning run 21 and if you want to reserve a spot for 5 runs, send the coins for the next 5 runs. If you want to reserve only 4 then only for 4 runs.

Please always use the copy&paste template... that's all...

What is Bestshare really?
Why does 4 numbers appear after the dot?

Within the Asic diffA and diffR appear, why does it not match the CKPOOL data?
I'm trying to understand this but I can't find the information I need to fully understand it... Please someone explain it to me in the best possible way.
I use a translator, I am Spanish.

Bestshare is the value of the highest share you found since the last block was found by someone on this pool. Bestever is the value of the highest share you found ever and never resets. Assuming you are using an antminer then the bestever of CKpool should be equal to the bestshare in the summary of the antminer miner status. As to the 4 numbers behind the dot: share values are not integers but floating point numbers* and can be rounded down any way you want. CKpool rounds it down to 4 numbers behind the dot and antminer rounds it to whole numbers.

DiffA is the value of the last share Accepted by the pool and DiffR is the value of the last share rejected by the pool and both continually change up and down. CKpool does not show that information. What you are looking for, again assuming an antminer, is the accepted stat under pools. That should correspond to the shares stat on CKpool.

Hello .

In my fathers box was a Butterfly Labs' Jalapeno. Took me a while to just identify what kinda of machine it was. Ckolivas was mentioned many many times in my fathers notes. I do not understand what most mean but finally arrived here. Was not very hard to get Cgminer going. I have some knowledge of Linux.

I Finally got an accepted share. YAY !! Grin Cheesy

Not sure if I am doing this right? Long story short my father passed away in 2016. My mother saved my fathers “crypto stuff” in a box. She decided not to give it to me tell she felt I was ready. I knew about bitcoin but not much more  than what my classmates talked about. This past week has been crazy. Trying to learn a lot in a short time. My father lived and breathed bitcoin for most his adult life.

I remember as a kid seeing him on his computer and this forum all the time. I remember him practically covered in wires with these loud machines around him. His office was always so warm in  the winter and unbearable to be in during the summer. So much of my father is still a mystery to me. This box of notes and gadgets is pretty much all I have left of him.

My mother told me a fortune might be hidden in this box or nothing at all.  He was a great dad! He would have loved to see what Bitcoin has become. I think he knew it would arrive at this point. He would have dedicated his entire life to it. His journey was cut short .

Not here to make people sad with my story. Hoping this sad story turns to something amazing. My father was eccentric to say the least. He used to tell my mother... Bitcoin would be the future. Looks like he was not wrong. Even if there is not a fortune here. This stuff is still my treasure. It is all I have of my father. If you have some information to help me get started here. Please let me know. He used to call me his little “kit kat”.That is how I arrived at my screen name  I want to do my best to know him better by getting better  familiar  with Bitcoin and this community he loved so much. Not sure his screen name here. If someone remembers a prominent member of this community that suddenly left around 2016 please let me know the screen name. Would love to find his old posts. Would mean more than anything to me. Hoping my father is watching over me and seeing me mine my first bitcoin shares with his old hardware.  Any advice anyone has please let me know. Looking dive into the Bitcoin world and continue down my fathers Bitcoin path.

Sorry to hear about your father. Sad

There is nothing wrong with trying to learn how mining works, but given the fact that your father mined bitcoin before 2016, there is a good chance that he has got some sort of a wallet in there, that would be a lot more rewarding than using his old gear which now is 'sadly' very slow and outdated.

The encouraging news is that your father's gear at that time must have mined some good amount of BTC that was worth very little at that time, so don't give up looking, before digging try to make copies of all the hard drives he has, DO NOT expose them to the internet and do not share any of files with anyone.

At some point, you might have to give out some information in regards to what kind of files you found in order to get help on how to try and extract any PKs in there, but don't rush, learn first so that you won't end up giving a wallet seed or anything that would result in losing your BTC.

Search for a wallet.dat file, bitcoin core, and anything related to Bitcoin wallets, here is a good read

Unfortunately, the discussion regards any funds and wallets won't fit here and would be removed by admins, so keep the mining-related stuff here, and the wallet stuff needs to go to a new topic in Bitcoin Technical Support

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your help and you kind words. No storage devices are in the box. The box size is around 8 inches by 12. Not all my fathers crypto stuff. He had rooms full .Not much  survived after many moves and a not so easy life after dads passing. Sure there is a lost fortune somewhere from his early days. Nothing like a wallet.dat or even seed phrases are here from my searching. I have sticky notes a torn pieces of paper.  Ckolivas name is mentioned twice first is this “look Ckolivas 7/4/11 Nividia” written in pencil on stripped paper. Second is written in orange ink plain printer paper “Ckolivas 11/24/14 Add Voltage”.

Most of his writing look like notations or reminders. His Bitcoin activity could be from the first years  of bitcoin from what I have gathered. Another notations was “AppData/Roam/Bitcoin” and the words “New .conf” on the bottom. I knew that was a reference to %appdata%  but no hardware or storage device is in the box. Unless you can store things in the butterfly labs miner or an old graphics card 7970. Does not seem hopeful of finding lost bitcon here. I have made piece with that. That is not the real treasure I am after anyways. Connection and a great purposes is what I seek. To be apart of something greater than myself. Think that is everyone's goal right. Wondering how many other people out there are second generation bitcoin miners ? Guess i cannot call myself a bitcoin miner tell i mine my first bitcoin block?

Never been more happy than the last two weeks. This lifestyle if consuming. Never been happier in my life. Feeling closer to my dad each day. I see bitcoin is in my blood. Now that I am understanding this world a little. My mind is flooded with ideas. I have learned that bitcoin can only be minded by huge farms now. Dad would have hated that. Looks like Ck pool is doing something to level the playing field right? If I somehow solo mine a bitcoin block on Ck pool. I want to get some bigger hardware to help support the solo pool.  Ckolivas concept of solo pool seems to be the only way to bring balance back to bitcoin? To give anyone a chance to power the block-chain and be rewarded? I would love to even help smaller miners gain better odds of solving blocks for themselves one day.

Oh WOW. I got merit. Smiley Thank you Thank you  Grin researching merit now.

That is so cool. So i am mining on a antique?  Cheesy  . I did some research on it . It is so outdated... with strange ties to a crazy time in bitcoin history from my research. I could never sell it. My dad would geek out knowing it is mining today. If somehow i mine a block with it. Would be beyond words.
