I've always wondered about the different ports for difficulty that pools have. Why is it that mining rentals do use high-difficulty ports? If there is no benefit or detriment, then why is it a thing? Also, what did you mean by feedback, ck? Thanks
Mining rentals can't control many thousands of shares constantly being blasted out at low diffs till the pool adapts since they rent out PH sized hashrates since it would overload their servers. Thus they won't even connect to a pool with a diff less than either 500K or 1M, depending on the rental service. By feedback I mean the accuracy of the hashrate reported by the pool. If you mine at a relatively high diff for your hashrate, the pool reported hashrate becomes increasingly inaccurate (It has no actual effect on the hashrate.)

Oh I almost forgot....reading about diff ports and all lol.....I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy a replacement fan for a bitcoin ASIC. My ASIC has two fans and one of them died on me the other day while I was out of town. It's already been dead for a week now and the manufacturer says it's covered under warranty but I have to pay shipping.....lol $65 and takes 15 days. I searched online but didn't see much. I found some on ebay but they are from china and would also take about 15 to 30 days. I can't have my miner down for a month lol no way. Can't find a block like that hahaha please if anyone knows a good place to source these fans, i'd be very grateful.
The fan I need is a 12V 5A fan that is 5.5" x 5.5" in dimension. Thanks guys.

Oh so are you saying that the high diffs only submit shares that are "good" enough? Meaning, they have to be past a certain number.....like at least a 12 digit number or it won't even bother submitting them? That way they don't overload their servers whereas if they didn't have a high diff, and they would submit every share even if it is only, for example, a 7 digit number, then they would be sending out way too many shares? Is that correct? Or am I way off lol

Yep that's exactly what share diff is.

I've just finished paying fees for the pool server to run for another year. Given the number of blocks solved this year, I'd feel bad having the community provide funds to support its running. Let's see where we stand in a year's time again.

Hi all, tell me please if there is a difference how to mine on this pool. Whether to split the power into several workers or just one worker with all the power?

Hey guys. Does anybody have any issue with getting the solo pool to go live when using a used Antminer with Braiins OS? I can't seem to be able to get this one to go online. It has the same pool configuration as the other one. But the pool status says dead on this one.
Thanks.

I had that problem with one of them. Try fully removing/deleting that pool connection on the bad one, and enter it again as a new one. That helped me. Also, you can open a ticket with the braiins OS company and they will trouble shoot it.

Delete the shit firmware/software called BrainOS, and go back to factory firmware..
And you won't have any issues, and probably have a higher chance of finding a block as the software/firmware has been proven to work..

Does it matter if I use a BIP84 address for solo or is there a different address type that would be better?

You can use any address type you like, but I have not validated whether taproot addresses work. I recommend native segwit (bech32 addresses) though.

Just fyi, I reached out to the Braiins guys and they were able to assist me in getting ckpool to come online. Hashing again now.

Hi all, tell me please if there is a difference how to mine on this pool. Whether to split the power into several workers or just one worker with all the power?
It has NO effect on your chances of finding a block, if you use a good monitoring software with tons of automation features, then monitoring your hashrate on the pool isn't needed, if not -- then it makes sense to use a different worker for every miner, in that case, you can check the pool status to see if worker #2 for an example isn't hashing at full speed or not hashing at all.
