Announcing CryptoEscudo [CESC]

Launched on March 25, 2014 20:00H UTC

A Portuguese cryptocoin for the 21st century.

As some of you may know, Portugal has been struggling with a serious debt crisis over the last years. Portugal is one of the European countries still under international financial assistance.

Our idea is not political. Our idea is simply a technical solution emerged from the world of the cryptoeconomy. Considering the financial problems we nowadays face in our country, we propose this: "Let's make our new money. Created by everyone and for everyone."

CryptoEscudo goals are:

1 - Create an international community of CryptoEscudo users.
With everyone's interest and participation, using CryptoEscudo as a payment form, the coin will become more and more valuable.

2 - Distribute part of the premined CESC by the Portuguese people (about 15 000 000) living in the country or aboard.
15 CESC will be given to each Portuguese person who can prove his/her nationality and has not received them yet according to our records. This is expected to be a long and complex process that shall begin on April 25, 2014, a symbolic date and a national holiday known as the "Freedom Day".

3 - Achieve within 5 to 25 years a growing nominal value for CESC until it reaches, at least, 1000€. Appreciation of CESC shall be enough to pay our national public debt, which is about 220 000 000 000 Euros at the moment we are launching CryptoEscudo.
Part of the premined CESC will be kept long term and reserved for this purpose only.

"In 2001, Portugal became the first European country to abolish all criminal penalties for personal drug possession. In addition, drug users were to be provided with therapy rather than prison sentences. Research commissioned by the Cato Institute and led by Glenn Greenwald found that in the five years after the start of decriminalisation, illegal drug use by teenagers had declined, the rate of HIV infections among drug users had dropped, deaths related to heroin and similar drugs had been cut by more than half, and the number of people seeking treatment for drug addiction had doubled.[38] However, Peter Reuter, a professor of criminology and public policy at the University of Maryland, College Park, suggests that the heroin usage rates and related deaths may have been due to the cyclical nature of drug epidemics, but conceded that "decriminalization in Portugal has met its central goal. Drug use did not rise.""

Because of this reason alone I will mine this coin.

Any minor scrypt based coin will be dead within 6 months, top.
I'm Portuguese, and would love to see anything like this succeed, but if you really have a long term view for this coin, you should consider change the algo to something ASIC resistant. Until there, only Vertcoin has the potential to keep alive.

Got my account back! It was hacked. Sorry about it :|

where are the password zips with the wallets before launch?

That idea must have gone out of style. None of today's launches have them.

the first sign of a scam coin = no password zips with wallets before launch

a sure sign of some instamine scam about to take place by the devs and friends.

Avoid coins that do not provide wallets beforehand in password zips or rars.

Indeed. Without the wallets what chance is there of a fair launch?

It also puts a ton of pressure on the pools and the launch - with much of it ending in criticism. Add in the 'huge Pre-Mine' and you have quite a few issues worth considering.
