[TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+)

Hey. I tried to set up a telegram bot (to receive notifications when someone posts a post in this thread, but I see that the posts are published but the notifications do not come). I don't know what's the matter. I checked and see that I did everything correctly (when I used the bot menu)

Should be working. I get notified for new replies on this topic and I see you’re tracking the topic on the database. A reminder that you don’t get notified for your own posts.

Debugging on the phone is hard and very annoying, so I couldn’t look much further.

Today I got multiple notifications of the same reply post. Previously there were no problems whatsoever. it only happened this time.



Is this caused by a bug or is it possible that the user edited the post and it was detected as a new mention and the bot sent the notification again?

If to look at the numbers of these answers you'll see that they are different. So it looks like this user made several accidental duplicate posts, and that's why you got several notifications, for each of them. Later he found duplicated posts and deleted them.

So notification bot worked correctly in this case.

I've been using this Telegram BOT since May 2021, and it has truly been the best tool for keeping me updated on Bitcointalk forum activities.

I have a minor question.. Is it possible, at some point in the future, for us to respond with posts in threads through this Telegram BOT?

Maybe it's a bug. I haven't faced such an incident but sometimes I noticed that if someone replies to my post, the notification comes a bit late for some posts. I consider it a network problem. However, the same notification multiple times can be considered as a bugIf it occurs several times.  Then you can stop and restart the bot.  I think this will solve the problem. And TryNinja will solve it quickly

This has been asked many times. Even if you'd be willing to give your account credentials to the bot, you still risk posting something that has been said before (like you did in this post!) because you didn't read the other posts in the topic (again: take the hint!). So I guess it would be great for you, but terrible for the rest of the forum.

Once again, I received a notification of merit that I received yesterday. This happened exactly 5:59 AM Local time here, which is 11:59 PM UTC. I checked the notification twice and then checked the forum. Then I realized it was a glitch notification that I had received twice, and my merit count was also affected.

Today I received a similar notification. It was for the merit that I received yesterday and received it again today with an increased merit count which is not there when I visited the forum.



Used /setmerit command to manually adjust it to the correct merit count on the bot but I wonder am I the only one in this situation or anyone else?

Yeah, I saw a similar report on the Portuguese board today. I arrived home last week and just got my new PC parts (my graphic card was broken). Will finally try to find a fix ASAP.

Okay, That's a good news. I had similar issues several times but chose not to report since I know you were on an extended vacation without a laptop. So we have used our famous /setmerit command for the last couple of weeks. I have noticed another glitch a few weeks ago. I had set a tracked topic. I got ten notifications for one post in two or three seconds. I thought many people posted in that thread, and there might be an issue with my internet which is why the bot did not notify, and now my internet is back. Then I saw I got ten notifications for the same post 

Nevermind. Sometimes we need some entertainment. Either from DdmrDdmr or from TryNinja's bot. Sometimes Merit bots make me happy for a couple of minutes.

i had the same problem on the day in question and again tonight (at exactly the same time as on september 22nd). various merits notifications popped up that had already been sent the day before...

Sorry to hear that. 

On the software part, I had the same issue at some point - I think also in 22th (maybe it helps).
Of course, with such a great program, this kind of rare problems are no biggie.
One thing that I've noticed though is that /setmerit seems to be missing from the menu and I had to come here to find it. Maybe some day (no rush) when you push other changes too, you'll add this there too

I doubt that it was a removed post, because the interval between both notifcations is less than a minute.

It is a removed post. One had 62923965 number and the one you linked has 62923970 number. Sometimes users tap the send button several times and there appears some occasional double posting. They can delete undesired copy by themselves immediately or such post can be deleted by mods by someone's report. It happens rather often.

Starting from NOW, the duplicated merit notifications issue should be fixed. If anyone still get a duplicated notification from now on, let me know!

If your merit count is wrong, use the /setmerit command one last time!

received merits on sep 28 but didn't seem there's a duplicated merit notifications at that time. Well, I did receive the similar merit notifications before though the merit count is the same but I didn't mind that's why I didn't reported it because I thought the problem is on telegram. It was like this, You have received 1 merit from xxxx 12:24 (merits: 646), You have received 1 merit from xxxx 12:25 (merits: 646) and also receiving merit notifications that is late and when I checked the forum I received merit.
