Can Lens win the Liga 1 title again after so many years with its modest squad? Lens, who last won the Liga 1 title in the 1997-1998 season, are leading the table ahead of a strong team like PSG.
I believe this will change in the next two or three weeks.
Lens may be playing a good team game, but their squad isn't enough to win the title.
PSG is still the strongest contender.
In their last match, Lens earned three points with a 1-2 win over Nantes.

I hope I'm wrong and Lens wins the title with this modest squad.

I have to say, I haven't been following French Ligue 1 recently. I've checked the table and was a bit shocked to see Lens as the leader and PSG on the second place.
When we were at the beginning of the season, Lens were doing OK, but it seemed like the best they can hope for is the top 5, but they did improve recently with 5 league wins in a row. I don't expect them to be able to maintain the 1st place for long, I believe PSG will get back there after a short period of decline in performance.
As I'm typing this, PSG defeated Rennes 5-0 and that's a powerful statement considering Rennes is a fairly solid team.

Lens is playing well now, they use this opportunity when they are still strong and in good form to win their matches and this has taken them to the top of the table since teams like Marseille, Monaco, Lille, and Lyon that are supposed to use their opportunities as well when PSG is battling injury crises now, but they all failed even though some of them are trying; only Lens out of no where did well to overtake PSG.

The main problem is consistency and it is the only reason why PSG will have to come back to their position because fatigue and injury will also affect lens and inexperience will also play an important role in their games very soon. But they did well to be in this position for now.

This is a game of football anything can actually happen you never can tell Lens might end up winning the French ligue 1 title this season it takes nothing to achieve that, it only take consistency if Lens can be consistent with their winning ways I believe they can do it as Paris Saint Germain seem to not be serious in the league or should I say they are more focused on the UEFA Champions League as they might want to defend it, but all I can hope for is seeing lens win the league this season, it will break the Internet once again just like few seasons past when Paris Saint Germain lost the league to Lil.

The 3 teams opposing Lens were not productive in the matches they played during this current league, so it could be said that Lens was lucky and their potential for victory was quite large in these matches, with the conclusion that they would hold the top position for longer and PSG would remain in second place in the standings, but PSG also met teams that they could easily beat, such as Metz and Paris, which was difficult for them in the third match because they would face LOSC, however, Lens should not underestimate their opponents because they could be held to a draw and they lose points they should get.

Lens have taken a boldly step to push away PSG from the top, i will seriously encourage them to make a record so that PSG will not continue with what they are doing. The main issue here is that PSG have a very dangerous team because they have all the resources they need which is still my fear for Lens. Honestly, Lens have a love to do because having a point different it's still very difficult for them to maintain the top.

So what I have to say about their next three matches, I will not conclude that they are lucky until i see all the victories. Among all the three opponents only nice start a chance to defend themselves based on the pass record, which is why i still have doubt for Lens to secure the three victories.

Will Still laid the foundation for the success Lens is experiencing now. He built a strong team that went unbeaten in the club's first 17 games. When Still departed in May, many thought that the French side would begin to struggle. The appointment of Pierre Sage turned out to be the right choice. The French League has been boring because of PSG's dominance. Seeing Lens challenging them is good for the Ligue One.

Nice suffered a defeat at home against Angers. With this loss, Nice have now lost five consecutive league matches and are significantly behind their rivals in terms of points. Nice lost their chance to turn the match around when Tom Louchet was shown a red card. They did not play badly in the match but were unable to score the goal that would have earned them points against their opponents.
In a match affecting the relegation zone, Le Havre hosted Paris FC at home. The two teams drew goalless, with Le Havre failing to convert a penalty in the 79th minute. Had Le Havre scored that penalty, they would have at least had the chance to overtake their opponents in the standings.

This happens sometimes and sometimes even PSG does not become the champion and Lille, Lens, Lyon, or Marseille have previously fought until the last round, but I think this season will be different, and PSG will soon return to first place.
Rennes is a strong team and even had chances, but Safonov, who replaced Chevalier in goal, made an excellent save in the first half, and then Hvica scored on the attack, after which Rennes was unable to recover, and PSG completed the rout at the end.

Last night impressive debut for Matvei Safonov, for the first time Luis Henrique playing him in Ligue 1 match and success make clean sheet for PSG firstly replacing Chevalier position always conceded goals every Ligue 1 match. PSG won 5-0 against Rennes last night and keep giving pressure for Lens already won against Nantes lead the top position. Marseille have bad result this week defeated by Lille and now have gap 4 points remaining with PSG and 5 points with Lens.

I also think it's only a matter of time before PSG takes first place again, but it's worth noting that Lens is currently on an amazing streak of five consecutive wins, which is what propelled them to first place.
Lille has also won four of its last five matches and caught up with Marseille, which has not been playing consistently this season and, like PSG, has lost points in recent rounds.
At the same time, PSG has a much better selection of players than all of its competitors and has a replacement for almost every position who is no worse than the player in the starting lineup, and Safonov is a good example of this.

I have to admit that Lens performed amazingly at the start of this season especially in the last 5 weeks winning all the matches, but I agree with you that this achievement will not be enough for them to maintain because the quality of the squad is very different from PSG, in the end at the end of the season what we see is always the same, namely PSG as champions, but I am also happy that this season the competition is much more interesting.

Even though Lens are getting weaker opponents and it looks like an advantage for them, these are exactly the kinds of matches that often end with unexpected surprises. Against Nice and Auxerre, Lens could win because playing at home gives them a stronger mentality. But the fact is, Lens have always struggled to beat Nice in their last four meetings. And the match against Toulouse is another mystery. Because even though Toulouse only have 1 win from their last 5 games, they keep managing to hold teams to a draw, even against stronger sides like Marseille.

So even though Lens are sitting at the top of the table, I’m not expecting too much from them to win. A draw is very likely to happen in some of those matches.

Consistency is one thing that a team must have in order to make it to the finish like in the fight for the league title and that's something I don't see Lens doing although we can never tell because it's actually like this a team plays little by little until they became champions but it's going to be really hard for them especially when they face off against PSG and its going to be even more bad if PSG are on their stride at that particular period.

Clearly, Marseille has been eliminated from the strong candidates for the French league championship. They are now 5 points behind the current league leader Lens. PSG is still in second place, and Marseille is also 4 points behind PSG, who have been very consistent and difficult to beat. It will certainly be hard to surpass or compete with PSG to win the French league. Teams in the French league, if they want to compete with PSG, need to improve their consistency first; when facing weaker teams, they must be able to take full points. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to compete with PSG, who consistently secure victories.

From the start of the season, PSG have been favorites to win because of their dominance and the team's obvious strength which means no other team in Ligue 1 has been able to match consistently, especially with the depth of their squad and the individual quality of their players. Even though sometimes Marseille or Lens are able to surpass PSG's points tally, PSG are still not serious about pursuing the Ligue 1 title, they are still focused on the Champions League where they see their primary opportunity to be able to defend their title. So it's just a matter of time until they really catch up on their points gap with Lens. Meanwhile, for Marseille, they just hope that they can be in second or third place by the end of the season.

Even though there are currently 2 clubs that have managed to bring PSG to their knees in the match because they had to lose and there are 3 other clubs that managed to tackle PSG in Ligue 1 with a draw but that does not cover the fact that they are still a dominant club for now.

Currently 1 point difference with Lens is almost similar to the competition in the last few seasons but this I think will not change anything especially about the problem of who will win this season because Ligue 1 everything is still the same.

This won't change anything if other teams can't do the same, but at least we see some teams starting to show a different direction by defeating them. We hope PSG will put pressure on the Ligue 1 title race. PSG's dominance as title contenders remains quite difficult to break, as some teams lack the same quality of players as PSG. The stronger teams should consider this issue, but if financial support is lacking, it will be difficult for any team to acquire players to compete with PSG.

The power of money is decisive at the end of the day and PSG has what other clubs don't have so even though maybe the beginning of this season PSG was disturbed even now in 2nd place in the standings but for the matter of champions we will definitely still remain convinced that until now if it wasn't for PSG playing badly in the full season then the hope of becoming a champion in Ligue 1 would almost certainly not happen for other clubs.

At the moment there are some clubs whose progress feels very good but something like this will not be enough especially when the schedule starts to be busy and some clubs have difficulty rotating.
Lens are also surprising again now even they in the last 5 matches managed to win streak although the beginning of the season they were not good but now the development is very pronounced for them but it is unlikely to change anything in Ligue 1 at this time.

Winning Ligue 1 is not a big challenge for PSG, but if they play Ligue 1 seriously, they will find the top spot in a very short time. In this case, the Champions League will be uncertain for them.

Nice is really in a downward spiral right now. Even when they are gifted chances they are unable to convert them. And I'm going to be honest, being bad so consistently must take some kind of skill  . The relegation zone is still 5 points away but if they keep losing like this it is not going to be far after some more matches.
Le havre feeling to convert the penalty is actually not that shocking to me because you cannot have any expectations from these teams that are so low on the table. By the way both of the teams had created a lot of chances in this match and I have actually lost count of how many times both of them have hit the goalpost. It's a shame that we did not see any goals in this match

While I understand that 5 wins in a row is great, do not forget that they lost 3 games out of 15 games, that is why the gap is so little, if Lens started the season better and didn't had those losses then we would have seen them with bigger gap.

Just one more week and we would have seen the situation change a lot more and be different. What we are seeing here is PSG just not caring about the league at the moment and they had many injuries along the way. If they can recover and be full squad all healthy and in shape, then there are no teams in Ligue 1 that could rival them.
