I don't think so. Fundamentally ripple and btc are very much different from each other. Bitcoin is the first crypto currency. It's fully decentralised. Its normally use as a payment options and it has the largest marketcap. Almost half of the wholes markets marketcap. In other hand ripple is not a fully decentralised token. Cause it's mainly backed by institutionnal investors and banks. It's also big. Its use case in bank sectors. It's also very popular and has a big marketcap. But some people don't like it. Because it's not decentralised. It's hard for ripple to replace or compete bitcoin atleast at this moment of time.

As we all have seen ripple has been quite strong these past few days and with all that it has done over the past months compared to most other currencies and the launch of xrapid is actually starting to show in its price.
There is so much talk about ripple taking over bitcoin and being 10$ what are your thoughts on this?
Did you mean that Ripple will take the position of Bitcoin as the #1 cryptocurrency in the crypto market?  Ripple currently costs less than $1 and even reaching its ATH ($3.8 on Jan 04, 2018) is impossible.  It takes a very large adoption for Ripple to be able to shift the position of Ethereum and Bitcoin, and the problem at the moment is that not many people like Ripple even though the fees for each transaction are cheap..

Ripple cannot be compared to Bitcoin, as it is not decentralized. And I don't think it will rise to $ 10, at least in the next few years. But it can grow to $ 2 next year. Ripple is in a very good situation now and it should grow until the end of the year.

Bitcoin is always Bitcoin. Ripple might grow high in its marketcap, and for that specific reason we can't state XRP to be the next bitcoin. More cryptocurrencies have promoted on their own, they're the next bitcoin. If we search those projects they aren't available on the coinmarketcap. This means those cryptocurrencies have gone out of usage. Every cryptocurrency have got its value and usage. In such a way XRP is good for transactions, through which we can expect massive progress and the same won't give it the position of bitcoin.

If you look at the current total XRP supply, $2 would be a huge asset. I'm not talking about Ath Libra hitting $3 a few years ago, but if you think about the large total supply of XRP, you must be thinking about how they reached that price level

I can't say that to you OP. Ripple is still different from bitcoin. It could not become next to bitcoin even in position in CMC. Ripple is a centralized coin while bitcoin is decentralised coin. They are both have good developments but bitcoin dominates more the market. Ripple or xrp is good at transaction. It only reduces you small amount of fees while bitcoin charges high amount of fees. Therefore, ripple cannot become bitcoin because they are both different cryptocurrencies with different ideas and system.

It is very unlikely that Ripple will become the next Bitcoin, because when compared properly it is very different between Bitcoin and Ripple.
Even Ethereum, which is much better than Ripple, is unlikely to be the next Bitcoin, let alone Ripple which is clearly centralized. So Ripple
was not created to replace Bitcoin, until whenever Ripple will not be the next Bitcoin.

Ripple has a pretty good investment track record, but I have never seen it even close to the bitcoin level, besides that it is also centralized which makes people including me not really like it.

indeed the ripple ROI is still positive, and the increase has been 30x,
but the fate of people who buy at the price of $ 1 - $ 2 is of course very different,
and recently Ripple's price has also gone up, that's good, even though it hasn't reached the target I think it's good,
if you expect ripple to replace bitcoin, don't expect it

Agree, it is too far to imagine Ripple next Bitcoin. From the total supply and investor confidence, I think there is a difference. Investors will certainly choose Bitcoin because institutional investors have started investing while this has not happened in Ripple

And add the fact that Ripple is a centralized digital currency while Bitcoin is decentralized, the characteristic why most people patronized cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin. If we will be considering the stability of XRP to be the next money of the next century then I might consider but then again we have to consider that crypto must be free of the control of any government while all people can acquire that one if they want to.

I don't think so XRP will be the next bitcoin, because there are many types of crypto leading in the crypto market and all are fighting for the best position. If you are talking about stability I think XRP is the best stable coin in future, but I am sure XRP will not the next bitcoin because BTC, ETH, much more strong compared of XRP.

XRP isn't a decentralized crypto project, that's where things are marginally different, XRP can never be the next bitcoin and moreover XRP is in trouble with SEC presently and many holders are already exiting XRP market, price have been down since the announcement

As per the latest figures from Coinmarketcap, only $0.5 billion separates the 4th ranked Ripple from Litecoin (which is at no.5 in terms of market capitalization). Now remember that XRP had a market cap of $30 billion until last month, which has been reduced to $9 billion in less than five weeks. That is $21 billion, vanished almost overnight. I was expecting this for quite some time, as I always thought that XRP was overpriced. But never thought that this shitcoin would die out so soon.

Dream too high if Bitcoin will be replaced by XRP. how good the XRP token is to beat Bitcoin to a great extent. not so sure about words like that.
Ethereum is, of course, a stable coin that is very difficult to replace bitcoin, especially ripple, which at this time might have fallen in price, of course it is impossible to replace bitcoin,
I think discussions like this are a waste of time

With the problem at the moment that they are facing it now, I fully doubt in it mate. Don't you know a lot community who support Ripple recently are now double thinking about their Ripple holdings. Because of the issues that they need to fix it first. That's one of the reason why the price of XRP dumped in the market, maybe some of the holders are got panic, what do you think?

This thread was created a few months ago when there were no issues regarding XRP, so I think the question on this thread is still possible,
But after the rumors about XRP a few days ago and many exchanges delisting XRP, that question becomes impossible, without investor support and big exchanges it will be difficult for altcoins to stay on top of Coinmarketcap.

One month back, XRP was trading at 4,200 Satoshis per token and now the exchange rate has gone below 700 Satoshis. This means that those who invested in this shitcoin got a ROI of -85% in just one month. This is meltdown of historic proportions. And hopefully this incident will teach the investors to stay away from the other overpriced shitcoins, which are still available in the market.

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) lawsuit against Ripple Labs which is considered to have violated the regulations on securities has caused panic sell and even several exchanges have made announcements about the possibility of delisting Ripple from their exchanges, one of which is Indodax.

This is next to impossible! With what Ripple (XRP) is facing right now being next to Bitcoin is very impossible to happen. Big exchanges already removed or delisted Ripple (XRP) on their platform. Bitwise, Coinbase, OKcoin, and recent news was from Bittrex. So it's very difficult to hope for Ripple (XRP) now.

a dream like this is very sad, especially since the SEC has announced that XRP is being investigated,
many people have said that XRP is not a desentalization, and that is my pity. Think for the next Bitcoin? impossible!

This is honestly something that people are talking about in the past few years but they were pertaining to Ethereum and now people/users are skipping past Ethereum and talks about Ripple as the next Bitcoin. I can say that Ripple is really useful even its value is just next to Ethereum. Ethereum though really proved itself by producing another feature or something that Developers created called DeFi. If Ripple can create something like that or something new, it might be next to Ethereum but not Bitcoin.

Ripple is a great cryptocurrency and they have made a lot of achievements so far. I also like the fact that they can achieve their goal of working with several banks around the world, but I don't think that ripple is the next bitcoin. Bitcoin deserves its current position as number one. Bitcoin came first and when people talk about cryptocurrencies and decentralized payments, it's always Bitcoin because it was the first to make that name for itself.

Even if Ripple manages to maintain at least some influence on the market and maintain the value of its coins, this will not happen very soon. There is more than one court session ahead. It remains only to sympathize with the holders of XRP tokens, who had the hope of making a profit in the future.
