Agree with you that he's been beaten by age and that has to be accepted by him and by his fans it's impossible to perform as well as he did a few years ago and I don't think he will contribute to yesterday's game, can't always look at his past greatness.
In yesterday's match, although MU lost badly but in the second half they tried to perform better and that they did 3 goals to prove it, but unfortunately they should have appeared braver from the first half, having conceded 4 goals in the first half it was very difficult for them.

An interesting fact that I saw during yesterday's match was how MU fans kept cheering when MU players scored, maybe this is support for the MU squad that just scoring goals against City is already an achievement even though they already know that defeat is what they will experience.

I understand why Erik ten Hag didn't prefer Ronaldo in the starting eleven. It was because of Rashford's recent form as he made a great impression in the Arsenal game as well. But I really don't get why he insists on not choosing Casemiro for the midfield at the beginning. He entered the game in the 60th minute this time.

He does not prioritize Ronaldo in the squad but Ronaldo is responsible for hks decreasing performance too. He would have played better if he had not try to leave in summer. He was not joined pre-season training and worse his mind was not ready for the new season. When he realized that he has to stay in Manchester United, it is just too late to get back training and get his body ready.

Somehow Manchester united managed to get three goals from that game and with Ronaldo on the pitch, there's every chance you can get a goal or two from him and let say he played and got a goal then the pressure would had been on Manchester city which might result to them playing under pressure and Manchester united would had then taken advantage of that situation to counter play them as they usually do to opponent that seems to outplay them in open play and a perfect example was the arsenal game.

Well, I am a person who has always followed the trajectory of CR7, but now I would like to know what excuse Ten Hag will give to justify that they have lost by such a wide margin? He is a coach who does not have any kind of track record, however CR7 did, he did not put him in to play knowing that CR7 could have done something, but he was good in a certain part, because if he had put it in they would have blamed him for the 5th or 6th goal , now Ten Hag who is going to blame? what I still don't understand is how the managers of Manchester United still have that technical director? why don't they fire him? It is difficult to bounce back when you have already consider upto 4 goals in the first half. The bounce back would have been possible if Manchester city didn't score in the second half. I appreciate Anthony and Martial who gave in goals to tame the situation.
If Martial is fit, I prefer him to Rashford anytime because he helps the club to claim possession even when he is striking. If there was time, he would have led the come back in a big way.

This match is an important lesson for Erik Ten Hag going forward. Just imagine, there are many weaknesses that occur, especially in the first round. relying solely on Marcus Rashford, was not enough to match the strength of the home team who were ON FIRE.  as a result, Man City broke into Man United quite easily.

And MU fans must feel the same way. because Manchester United even though they are far behind. but they didn't give up. and in the second half they were able to control the game so they could get 3 goals. If only MU's game in the first half could be as good as in the second half then I don't think MU will concede many goals. even draw. or win is also possible. but sadly they got their best performance in the second half instead of since in the first half. but Manchester city is difficult to overcome. the fast attacks they do are truly extraordinary and effective. I think this is what United should learn from Manchester City.

You just pointed out this current Manchester United biggest problem "lack of spirit to fight back" I was just angry seeing players throwing there hands up anytime they concede a goal instead of fighting more for the ball. Sancho as a player was woeful yesterday with Bruno and Rashford they were just strolling on the field piling more pressure on the defence. And for Ten Hag I think he got it wrong by playing just one DM yesterday a McTomminay and Casmiro double pivot yesterday will have helped to disconnect man city's ball play in the midfield. The coach still has a lot to learn but with time he will adapt even Pep didn't had it easy on his first Premier league season

I almost forgot there is one more match for week 8 and this between Leicester vs Nottingham Forest and these teams are still fight to avoid relegated zone especially Leicester the fans still hopes they will get their first winning from this match but Nottingham Forest also had same mission because they do not want return to championship division however for this match this indeed quite risky but i would like to pick Leicester win and i wish they can playing well at their home ground and the odds for Leicester is @1.78
