Nice, we'll see if things are working again on Friday. Those twitter comments are brutal, people are upset.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

It's gonna be super funny this time when Cryptsy is the one that goes belly up with everyone's BTC now that I'm being honest. You can't have three months of complete warning after warning and still deposit money into that sinking ship. Anyone that complains when they take that money and tank should be publicly flogged and laughed at, this wasn't an overnight thing. They are totally Goxxing right now.
There is no other answer. They are giving no explanations, don't give a damn about their customers, etc.

Bye Cryptsy, please pull your fucking UNO out now.

https://twitter.com/search?q=Cryptsy&src=typd

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3waq3m/beware_of_cryptsy_please_read/

There are probably 100+ posts across this forum and reddit alone about how nobody can withdraw any amount of BTC at all for how long now?

They are done. Warning signs have been there for months. They aren't fixing anything, they would have done that in a week, two weeks or so max. What the fuck could take 3-4 months to fix? Being completely insolvent amidst thousands of complaints.

Oh, apparently they just closed the chatbox.

Good night, sweet prince.

[–]luddist 6 points 1 day ago

Cryptsy has had the hallmarks of insolvency for months. If they've been hacked or otherwise lost user deposits, and have become insolvent, and lied about it by not revealing that information, all the while taking more deposits to pay for other users' withdrawals, it's a giant scam. If this is the case, I hope criminal prosecutions follow.

That's exactly what happened, either way. They either got hacked and failed to disclose this information (which is what I believe) and continued to run as a pure ponzi scheme, or they were already running insolvent due to other money issues. Either way, the real red flag is how they dealt with all of it. If you lie and lie and don't tell your users you were hacked and continue to allow more deposits in to pay for the trades and withdrawals, that's still completely illegal. I also believe all the CoinFire stuff a few months ago had some merit.

No matter what, saying nothing is totally crooked, if not full out illegal while being an MSB.

Hope you guys don't have any more UNO there at all.

Go over there and chat by logging in, you'll get trolled so hard by the Cryptsy shills.

He didn't give any sources or evidence, but someone in a peercoin forum claims that Cryptsy lost coins due to somebody finding a bug in their withdrawal system. https://www.peercointalk.org/index.php?topic=4345.msg41443#msg41443

I ain't stubborn.

Convinced me.

Just drained.  All UNO (and profits!) back home.  Once the blockchain catches up, I should be #8 or 9 on the richlist.

Big Vern just tweeted that all wallets will be closed on Friday 18/12 for equipment changes.  That doesnt sound like an exchange that is shutting down or broke to me.  Can we speculate that by Monday all will be normal again back at Cryptsy, and the price disparities will clear up?

Hmmm...

I hope upgrading hardware will solve all their problems. I would love to see Cryptsy end this latest two months of horrible customer service, lack of communication, locked accounts and withdrawals delayed by weeks. I would take no pleasure in Cryptsy closing and people losing their coins.  The problem is the long precedent of failed exchanges behaving the way Cryptsy is behaving, and then failing in the end.  MintPal only needed to upgrade software, afterall...  Coin-ex was simply investigating a "security issue." AllCrypt was in the middle of an orderly closing when hackers wiped them out.  I don't need another Uno exchange to bite the dust.

Yup, as FK said above - it all sounds too familiar doesn't it?

Glad I pulled my coins out when I did. Let's see......

FK, my hope is the same as yours, that Cryptsy recovers.

However, like I've always said, only leave as much going on the exchange as you can afford to see vanish.

If it's truly an inside job, I can't help but wonder what island paradise Big Vern will end up on St. Bart's, Mustique, or maybe IMZ will catch him hiding out somewhere in WA?

I was able to do that once with btc, withdrew double the amount.  Was just moving btc around and the server was running slow and I didnt think my withdrawal went through.  So I quickly did it again and double the amount of btc went out.  But my account went negative and all my other coins got froze.  I sent the btc back and my account went positive again.  This happened awhile ago though.

Oh ya! I forgot about that. I had a balance go negative once as well, it was just a few cents worth of Cannabiscoin though. Imagine if someone figured out how to get hundreds of bitcoin out. Their balance would go negative but they would just abandon the account, man that would be a major screw up by Cryptsy. Especially since they were aware of the problem, I messaged support about it and essentially they said, "Ya that happens sometimes, once you deposit it'll return to normal."

yeah this happend to me.  i forgot about it. months ago.

they double paid. and i had to return it to unlock my account.  lucky for Cryptsy it was a logical case of better to refund them verses loss of the account.

"Eureka!"

From Cryptsy chat

The Uno cold wallet at Crypsy is now just 9.12% of supply, way down from a year ago.
I'm glad so much Uno has been removed and is not exposed to the uncertainty there.

The irony here is unbelievable.

This same thread of tweets has occurred during the meltdowns of Gox, MP, etc.

It's the same playbook every time. One would imagine that people would finally get wise or the scammers would come up with some new material. Alas, but no...

Hope is certainly a powerful emotion...

If 9.6% of all the coins are still on Cryptsy, fuck, thats 19,000 kilos still,  some of it is Cryptsy', but jeez, a few people are still in there big.

I wussed yesterday.  Fuck that.  Paid a bit expensive reletively so quick, but fine in my overall average price.

I wussed.  Everyone should wuss the fuck out of Cryptsy.  I have seen the light.

In July, 2014, there was 56k Uno in the famous uRAN wallet, later discovered to be Cryptsy.
19K is still a lot, but its been worse.

Curious... has anyone checked coins-e.com lately? Is that one still working for deposits/withdrawals?

I was able to login.

I'm trying to send some $UNO over there. I'll report back in awhile...

Three hasn't been a trade there since July...

I got a little fanatical the other night with those posts (was drinking for the first time in a few months) but I am really glad everyone that's wanted to get coins out of Cryptsy has been able to do so. What I meant was that I'll be glad when the shills for the exchange end up complaining in the end.

Fishy things have been happening since the tier system implementation.

Have you guys noticed this on a daily basis?

 Top Traders By Volume
Place    Chat Handle    14 Day Volume
1    pqrd555768    250.67441329
2    Bugenhagen247    245.81373690

These "pqrd" and "Bugenhagen" accounts consistently are the top traders, yet I've believed them to most likely be Cryptsy using some form of trade bots or something. There are a few of the guys that have stuck around there since Cryptsy opened, and anytime someone says anything about withdrawals, they troll the people asking. (Like they're being paid, IMO)

Down to ~9%! You guys rock.
If we can successfully afford to pull a couple more % outta there before the fall, we won't have to worry about Cryptsy being able to dump 15k+ coins on a market when they are scurrying to liquidate. One of the regulars told me in chat the other night that Paul Vernon is in China working on that other fishy looking Cryptsy exchange. (Fled the country) He also thought after fleeing the country, he'd make sure to fix Cryptsy after starting one in China?? The rumor mill is rife though. Some on Reddit are saying the Department of Homeland Security seized about $5 million USD from them over laundering and other PayCoin accusations. Others are saying they were hacked for a ton of Bitcoin, others still that they are a fractional reserve because they've spent too much money. ( Big Vern's Yacht's and vacation homes)

So enough about them, let's build up the UNO markets at Cryptopia and Bittrex, and hope for more markets to naturally come our way. UNO is solid, and it's going to come out of this unscathed. Can't say that for a lot of alts that are trapped there.

If it happens, it will be the biggest altcoin extinction event since Allcrypt.

Mintpal was a big event, of course, but a lot of those coins had listings elsewhere. There are quite a few on Cryptsy that will vanish with the exchange. Uno will not be one of them.
