I saw the note, but it doesn't say anything about active account which never/almost never receive merit. But i trust you'll ignore vote from obvious abuser.
This can be easily avoided if people don't give merit only to those that give them vote and ignore the rest. I know that some people like to use merit as a "thank you", but IMHO in these situations it's best to avoid that practice as some will vote only to scoop couple of merits. I remember last time we had some members who were so lazy that they just copy/pasted other people's votes.

I also haven't idea about some categories and leave them blank. I guess it's more OK than nominating some random members.
I am having the same issue. For now I just left some categories blank and will eventually fill them up when/if I figure out who is the most deserving. Or maybe I am taking this too seriously. Cheesy

I remember this heated discussion... so I'm of the opinion that only people who are not on my ignore list deserve ratings (in the context of how I feel when a person has spent 5-10 minutes making a conscious choice). Btw, there is nothing wrong with leaving a couple of empty graphs, to me it just means that the person has a slightly narrower range of interests than others ... after all you have a month or so to edit your post.  Wink

I absolutely would like to nominate EZ0010 for something, as it was pretty crazy at the time. The whole event really, proves that experienced users can make mistakes which we knew anyway, but new users especially seem to build up certain users as gods for a lack of a better term, and therefore can't make any mistakes. However, it didn't just show that, it showed even mistakes don't always spell disaster. I actually think, the fact that EZ0010 wasn't a massively established user, made it even more impressive. It would have been easily to disappear with that Bitcoin.

So, I would definitely like to give recognition for that, but it's fitting it into the current criteria I'm struggling with a little. Dare I say its one of the events of the year, which I'll term "When theymos lost the plot, and Ez0010 returned the lot". Obviously, tongue in cheek I including others have probably made sillier mistakes than that.

Btw, there is nothing wrong with leaving a couple of empty graphs, to me it just means that the person has a slightly narrower range of interests than others ... after all you have a month or so to edit your post.  Wink
Sweet, it just didn't feel right voting for a moderator even though I know this isn't a massively serious award ceremony. I just want to get my Annual invite to the Christmas party, and my Christmas cards, and therefore would avoid making enemies Cheesy.

I'm having the same issue, therefore I'm wondering if there's any way someone might skip some categories because I have no idea who or what to place as event of the year/fail event of the year. Is it necessary to fill up all of the categories?

icopress will correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that it's mandatory to nominate members in all categories. Simply fill those that you are comofrtable with and that's about it. I might even leave some categories empty too, if I won't be able to find adequate candidates.

If this is the case, it makes a lot of sense. I'll cast a few votes and that'll be the end of it. I'm weary of folks nominating Satoshi and Lauda; shouldn't this award go to active users only? Since there are prizes in each category

@icopress, how will you choose the three VIP winners?

You probably meant to say "one winner + 1 (for example, you and your wife). [Just hover your mouse over "note"]

To be honest, it's their right, and if the user read the entire description before voting, they should know that unclaimed collectibles will be put up for auction and the proceeds will go to support the BitcoinTalkShow. In addition, if Satoshi wins in any category, the number of winners between whom the prize fund will be divided will also be reduced, (everything is provided ... as they say).  Wink

One of the requirements to submit a vote is to be a Full Member or have 50 merits. Are you making any distinctions between airdropped and earned merits? I think earned merits should be considered but maybe a lower minimum. I would take a lower-ranked member with 50 earned merits over an active Legendary who hasn't earned any since the merit system got implemented any day of the week.

Since I am using the BPIP extension, I can see how much merit one or another user has earned, including those that were received by default, so when counting votes, all these aspects will be taken into account. However, I will try to be very flexible and make a few exceptions to the rules (for example, if the user gets 50 merit after they voted). And at the same time, it is more strict with the votes of those who formally have the right to vote (for example, users involved in 1xBit or those who have been seen in slanderous plots, ardent spammers, etc). I hope I was able to satisfy your curiosity.  Tongue

I need clarification, does that mean full member or higher with 0 merit eligible to vote?
True ... but I added a note saying that the OP has the discretion to ignore the votes of newly awakened accounts and inactive posters.

Quote from: Update:
We are glad to announce that a new sponsor has joined this event, and we are very pleased that ChipMixer still supports and appreciates public initiatives!

Thus, the total prize fund has expanded to 100 mBTC! Moreover, ChipMixer expressed a desire to reward ordinary users, those whose names will not appear in any of the nominations, therefore, 10 vouchers of 2 mBTC each will be raffled among all voters!

Should the encouragement of this post by icopress "merit" be regarded as a positive answer to the question?

I would also like to leave some categories empty, because at the moment I don't know who I can suggest. For example, I was not interested in the topic of scams, so I don’t know who to choose for Best ScamBuster. I do not want to propose candidates just to fill the slot.

I believe that it is necessary to propose only those candidates who fit into the framework of the competition conditions and categories. And not so that just to name someone who has nothing to do with the nomination.

Perhaps, before the end of the voting, I will have time to study a little the topics in which I have gaps and will be able to fill in all the fields.

I agree, that it is not mandatory for everyone to have to choose users in all categories.
In fact, selection should be made by users who are most actively involved in each category.
Otherwise, the choices can be made in a random way, and not in a more coherent way.

And where are users suggested and where are the votes cast?

@m2017, @igehhh, @Rikafip

@icopress said that it is definitely alright to skip some of the categories that you are not sure which member is fit to that specific area, in fact, skipping is way better than blindy nominating people with the majority of the votes.

I don't want to influence people's votes too much, but I was wondering how many users would nominate EZ0010 for one of the awards
I was thinking more or less the opposite: theymos deserves the Fail of the Year award for sending Bitcoin to the wrong address Tongue Even though obviously it can happen to the best, it can still serve as a warning to thoroughly check each transaction before sending. Usually that warning is for Newbies, but it turns out experienced users need to be reminded once in a while too.

I looked at the names of the nominations in this contest, but did not see the important title for almost every forum participant. I'm talking about "Best Bounty Manager". Maybe add another title? Bounty managers have been an integral part of bitcointalk for many years, and it would not be superfluous to nominate and encourage them too. Why not.

It is now too late to add a nomination when the competition is already underway. But there will be a lot of time before the 2022 vote and this can be discussed later.

Like that:

Custom title
Description of the Nomination

Best Bounty Manager
The award is presented to the enemy  of bounty cheaters and the best friend of responsible and honest participants, who sends rewards on time and keeps up to date with changes about projects.

This outstanding man holds the project team and shakes them for the sake of his faithful bounty members. Extremely dislikes when the project dissolves into the sunset without paying a reward and leaving everyone in tears.

Despite the comic design, I make a proposal about which I would like a serious discussion.

If you think the idea I proposed is worthy of being included in the contest, you can vote for it with merit to attract the attention of the community.

I'm talking about "Best Bounty Manager". Maybe add another title?
As I wrote last year:
Quote
that's the problem with Voting like this: it's more of a Recognition award than an award for actual accomplishments.
When it comes to "bounty managers", I expect the most active one to get most votes, while the campaign manager who rejects spammers won't be loved. Then again, bounty spammers usually don't have Merit so they can't vote.

I would have expected the opposite to avoid abuse. I'm just thinking I have enough sMerit to send 50 Merit to at least 30 users who vote in my favour Lips sealed
LoyceV, unlike you, I'm not a robot, since I'll be counting the votes after the thread is blocked. Yes, I can filter, but honestly I don't want to keep track of who and when got a couple of merit, and even if I didn't think that all the nominated candidates are pretty honest ... then I would agree with ETFbitcoin's opinion that such frauds are easy to track, therefore, a few merit received in the voting thread is unlikely to affect the barrier of 50 merit.

[...] I'm talking about "Best Bounty Manager".
Even if you do not take into account that there is already a Craft Master category, do not forget that there are not so many managers on the forum, so the category you actually proposed would exist for one or two people, [just read the description and you will understand that there is no need for an additional category].

Similar situation with the moderators. There's plenty of moderators which are putting one hell of a shift in consistently behind the scenes, but aren't publicly participating in discussions with the community, at least not as much as others which means they miss out on the votes. So, naturally users gravitate towards the more vocal moderators. It would be a better measurement if theymos released the amount of actions moderators have taken in x amount of days, though I doubt that'll happen.

Technically, I'd probably argue the same for the "Miss Bitcointalk" since most users will likely be secretive of this gender or could be faking it since it seems the internet age has encouraged that sort of behaviour. I'll probably be leaving that one blank when it comes to voting.

Why not.
This is already included in a Craft Master category as you can see in explanation below.
It's not only limited to managers but also to escrow, designers, etc, and you can see that most people voted for managers.

We tend to think that this award is best suited to the most significant figure among collectors, managers, escrows, designer or users who are so passionate about sports and p2p that they motivate others to bets solely in BTC.

LoyceV, unlike you, I'm not a robot, since I'll be counting the votes after the thread is blocked.
He is a female robot gang leader (some say sexy...but I don't agree), so please keep that in mind., and be respectful  Cheesy
