 actually pos seems to be a bit tricky. I was looking at the shacoin threads and at the moment they loose more coins than they mint. 
So it is certainly better to make sure everything works as designed before launch...

It is different.  I am biased toward using YACMiner (see my signature) - and it can do scrypt, nscrypt(vertcoin), and scrypt-chacha (graphene).
