Thanks to JIO, the internet penetration has grown so much now. Free wifi internet is available everywhere, and home broadband is still cheaper than mobile internet. I have been reading that these mobile companies will increase the tariffs once again, possibly next year. We Indians are so dependent now on the internet that we will pay those new charges too.

The cost of internet came down. I remember 1GB price of airtel pre-jio days was Rs1000 200 or something, if I recall correctly.

It did bring in digital revolution but certain things Ambani has been doing to bolster its own position and there needs to be some sort of control over the industries to make sure they dont exploit the people.

Currently TRAI is in the pockets of these companies and Voice only plans are actually a joke, minimum data recharges should exist, but it will be difficult to disrupt the current market.

Also I found the Udan yatri cafes in airports, considering the crazy pricing out airport food, these are only available where AAI/Gov is owning majority stake, not on the privately owned airports.

But now most of the phones do support 5G. Not only high end phones but even economical phones do come with 5G feature now. I still use iPhone 11 which does not come with 5G support. Apple supported 5G after iPhone 12 so I really feel bad now because I am not able to use unlimited 5G data.

Vaise 5G plans bhi kafi expensive he as compared to regular plans so it worked for me anyways. :p Now I saw that phones worth even 15k comes with 5G support so might be good for people who don't want to spend a lot but still get 5G benefits.

We can blame our government and their ruling methods but they made healthcare accessible to more people with free healthcare from state and central government but if we go to private we are still cheaper compared to most of the developed countries with best doctors, but the only problem with healthcare is crowded hospitals.

But feel still we need to bring some kind of regulations to the private hospital especially for IP where they will force us to pay like RS.1500 for specific company medicine when the same thing available even under hundred rupees.

And Indians lack about the importance of health insurance which can save us from spending our years of savings in case of emergency situation.

It's a well oiled machine and will continue to move despite regulations unless you are hanging medical fraternity for this, which would be ridiculous. Guess, slowly but surely awareness will come, we are still low income country and once we touch 7-10k middle income bracket, things will improve drastically.

Talking about that, how do you see the free health checkup camps? Which is only done to say what disease people have which I find ridiculous though because it is nothing but an attempt to create a fear like you are diabetic even if the glucose level is still is in the border level and if we get into a hospital to confirm that then it is like the end, we need to take diabetic medicine for the remaining life.

I have not yet seen Udan yatri cafes. I cannot comment on the pricing and the quality of food in that cafe. I do agree that the cost of food in the airport is excruciating to our pockets. The same problem is with flight tickets; these airlines have been making good money after dynamic ticket pricing was introduced. They are now minting money after they hiked the ticket prices during COVID on the pretext of safety, which they have not reduced since then. I recall Raghav Chaddha discussing this issue in detail in the parliament. There have been a lot of changes in this country post-2014, but some things, like the middle class, still do not get the required attention from this government too.

I remember purchasing a Uninor sim back then because outgoing was very cheap on uninor and they also offered unlimited talk-time plans so it used to help me a lot because I used to spend hours on phone with my girlfriend.

Things have totally changed now. We have unlimited data, unlimited voice calls but unfortunately, I lost my girlfriend in the process .

Dodgy Diagnoses is not restricted to just free checkup camps, big hospitals do that all the time. Guess it comes down to integrity and imo free health checkup camps do great service for under privileged section, yes some percent of diagonse will be questionable but in majority of cases it won't hurt the patient.

I'll be more concern about NGOs etc collecting all the genetic data, dna samples etc and handing over to someone and creating biological weapons and disease to target specific demography.

But, we have to accept the fact that without Jio, we might still be living in that old era where buying internet was like a luxury and we had to spend a decent amount just to get a couple of GBs. Ambani did bring a digital era and I really respect him for that. It was only after Jio that every other brand started rolling out unlimited plans. Jio also did offer free internet for a while where they spent a lot of money just to acquire customers while building a habit to spend more internet. Before jio, people used to download movies from cyber cafes and watch it multiple times but jio made it a habit to watch the movie online now.

Yes voice only plans are off table now and it has made it way difficult to keep the sim active without really paying for the data. But there's nothing we can really do because as you said TRAI now works for these companies instead of being an regulatory body.

Before jio, people used to download movies from cyber cafes and watch it multiple times but jio made it a habit to watch the movie online now.

Jio not just made the data affordable but opened doors for multi-billion-dollar companies like OTT platforms and mainly youtube which became very popular and there are influencers started making money after the Jio free data came. If it was not for Jio then watching youtube will still be a luxury for most or we should be watching in office wifi.

Vodafone (VI) is not going to be in the game for very long, because their debt is hitting the ceiling and they are just surviving on the excuses and if Ambhani wants them out then they will be out. SO there is only two player remaining and as I said they came to understanding and will keep their market share while making more money.

If we can see a change then it is from BSNL but they don't even have 5G yet while Jio is using BSNL towers for 5G coverage.

I really dont like the hiked prices at airports, maybe in future some big person will complain about it and then the government will move forward with more meal options from udan Yatri cafe and not just chai samosa.

BSNL is not going to change, in the last 20years they have been playing the catch up game. It is the poor state of the government and not in our control.
