I hope this works. If it does work it will be good for all crypto's Including the almighty BTC. If we want these coins to become widely accepted we need more exposure and positive exposure. I am still very sceptical about this. If the airdrop happens I think the people should hold the coins $350 is not going to make or break most people. They have $0 invested so why would you not swing for the fences. A chance the an eco system is around this coin in Iceland or even a chance the coin eventually goes higher. You are playing with the houses money so why would you not try to make it worth enough money to mean something. But I do believe the people that know about it and claim, their coins tonight will just dump it and say hey I just made $300. This is a huge gamble for any investor. All on black or all on red your choice.

I would like to hold the hands to those that bough after 70$ and never sold. But especially those that bought at 90+$ ! I would like to know what they were thinking...

I wasn't...

I had my first trial of cryptoexchange and so it happened to be the day of Aurora Hype!

I really hope they follow through with this and everything turns out well. Some main stream news outlets are starting to pick it up: http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/innovation/cryptocoin-their-own-icelands-auroracoin-experiment-n59216

If this turns out good there will finally be a positive light showing on alt coins.

Me too.

After the MT GOX mess we need some good crypto news.

With the amount of attention AUR has gotten, it would be a significant short-term blow to crypto-currencies if the airdrop is unsuccessful. Not only would it be another round of bad news, but it would add further negative traction because of the link between anonymity and how people can't trust an untraceable system like crypto-currencies.

That said, I think the outcome of a successful airdrop will be just as scary since it will inadvertently legitimize a bunch of the other "nation" coins. And that could be a wave of new investment that will burn a lot of people. That could have serious impact to crypto-currencies mid-term. I'm not gonna worry about that though since I still am not convinced that the airdrop will happen as it is slated to happen.

That's a scary prospect, even more "nation" coins.

They have one just for Icelanders and Some people on reddit have already said they have claimed their coins. These where people that where noted to be against the coin saying it would not happen. And they are now saying they received them.

This national sovereign coin thing could really be a boon to a nation (like Lakota) if it wasn't done as a scam.  A 25% premine distributed in the beginning to recognized charities with another 25% relegated for business startups, before mining began.  People tend to be altruistic given the chance.   Unfortunately many of the coins now are just scams.

That is because there are not enough miners. So far 6042 coins have been claimed. This equals 190 people have claimed coins. A few weeks ago after the first big dump it took over 24 hours for my coin transaction to complete.

The airdrop manager might as well give out the coin to any Icelander who asks for their claim.  It would do nothing but help his cause as he could always find plenty to keep for himself and sell off.  It makes no sense to "dump" them from their perspective.  The guys who get them earlier on will have a huge advantage.

I have 29.9 Aurora I purchased with some BTC. Maybe I'm a fool but it is just a little punt and maybe when the big dump doesn't happen due to the airdrop, the price'll go up.  Grin
